2017-04-13: After about three years plus of dreaming about the possibility of us becoming a BMW dealer, then going through all that it took to get to the point we are today, I’ve had dreams of demoing one bike, and one bike only! The R1200GS Adventure! All the planning of taking one to Yellowstone last year, but not being far enough along with BMW to allow that to happen. Finally, on December 28th, 2016 I bring the beloved dream adventure bike home! Even though the weather has been really bad for riding, I’ve loved every moment that I was in possession of this epic ADV bike from BMW! The dreams, the plans and the bike all come to an end tomorrow when I return her to be sold to a very lucky customer…
Not that all the other BMW ADV bikes aren’t amazing, and they are, there’s simply no replacement for an R1200GS Adventure! So, for now, the dream comes to an end...

Shawn, I picked up my Rallye about two weeks ago, and when I ordered it I started waiting to see how long until it'd show up in your videos, I'm glad it's your ride now.
I owned 9 motorcycles (worth way too many 10's of thousands of dollars) as of last February. Now...I have ONE. A mint FZ-1. Nothing special but very nice. Words cannot express how good it feels to reduce to the point where 1 bike satisfies me. One bike to clean, insure and ride (I would add "repair" but FZ1's don't really break down lol). Fast, nimble, comfortable, practical, reliable and inexpensive.
BMW has a LOT of amazing options, not the least of which is that carefully computer designed windshield!
both really nice bikes, i'd be happy with either. you're a lucky guy!
I really thought You were going to take the R 19 as the demo, but You really thought it out, more practical by taking the GS. Both are great bikes, but I like the GSA a little better, the looks of it, and what You said about the way it rode. But I'm sure You're going to enjoy the GS, but You enjoy every ride, no matter who manufacturer is.
Best you get ordering some new off road tyres! Can't wait to see it off the tarmac! Looking forward to trying one out myself. 🏍👍🏻
Awe! the decisions you have to make... must be terrible have seven bikes in the garage. Hey not only is it Friday, it's Good Friday... Easter yaah!! A 4 day weekend well still 6 days off for me. Good to hear Kelly's dad is doing well. Didn't think he'd bounce back so quick.
thanks for keeping with the adventure theme. When the rally first came out I said WHATTTT. But I get it now. I don't like the color and graphics but that goes for all of BMW. My 1981 Subaru DL had that hill start.

I didn't know you could get the Rallye in the low suspension. That's awesome, thanks for sharing! I like the low suspension high seat combo nation as well. I've tried it on the showroom floor, need to take one out soon!
Well......I get wanting to bond with your own Racer....just excited to hear your extended ride experience. You DO seeeem awfully smitten with that GSA....my wife would say I've got the same type of problem...good problems to have! Looking forward to the continuing adventures.
Was going to wait until this autumn and trade for a GS; now you got me convinced to purchase a GSA instead - this summer....

Nice bike. What is that you feel is better about the Rallye vs the ADV? How would you describe the difference in riding characteristics? With the lower suspension, how much less ground clearance do you have over the Adventure? What is the seat hight? Thanks
I was hoping you would take the RnineT Racer, but I know why you love the GSA/GS so much, as I have worked with BMW Motorrad for 7 years ;) I'm waiting for spring to come to Norway, so I can take my Racer out :)
As nice as the new GS Rallye is, I vote GSA. Pardon my ignorance here, but what is the importance the "bell" and why do you place it on the bike? Loving the VLogs.

Nothing to apologize for with the ride video, it was as enjoyable as always. That GS is a beauty, hopefully you'll be able to add a GSA to your stable in a permanent fashion. :) Hopefully Kelly's dad had a good birthday and her parents had a good anniversary. How many years have they been married?
sometimes you find the motorcycle that yours fit you perfect it's hard to let them go just try and find a way to buy the GSA

I was heartbroken when you said the GSA rides better than the Rallye. I want one of those Rallye's so bad it makes my head spin. I like the slimmer look over the GSA. Would the lowered one fit a 5'9" middle aged dude?
I must have missed an episode or something. Why is it the dealer keeps giving you new bikes to take out and play in the mud? Is this something like the fad of buying a "relic'd" guitar? Is he making more money on scratch and dent models or what?
BTW, love the blue. Best looking GS yet IMHO. Bike like that makes a lot of sense out where you're at.

+TheSmoaksVlogs ; I don't get it why are you even considering replacing your GSA ? - the new Rallye is basically the same bike minus the huge fuel tank - crash bars - pannier racks .., and prices accordingly - the newer bits (ie; levelling suspension and 20mm extra ground clearance) certainly don't warrant you to consider switching bikes ? ., and the new Rallye colour (all though nice) definitely does not warrant the thousands of $$$ LOSS from selling the GSA . Also you will need to spend a lot more to buy all the crash guards / panniers racks etc all over again on the Rallye ???
I am considering the exact same both motorcycles, r1200gsa or the r1200Gs Rallye, May i ask you which one you prefer and or pros and cons for both? Thank you!

Shawn, is the GSA a low or standard suspension bike? How much suspension travel do you lose with the low? Ground clearance ever an issue on the low? I'm 5'10" with a 32" inseam and trying to figure out the best choice for me. Thanks for all the great content that you do.
The GSA demo I had was a standard. I'm 5'8" with 29" inseam and it was very rideable, but the lowered model is way more comfortable for me... With your 32" inseam, you should be totally comfortable on a standard GSA but sit on, or better yet, ride them both to see what you think.
The suspension on the lowered model is 50mm less front and rear... All the geometries are different as well to make the bikes handle the same. Simply lowering the suspension would make the bikes handle differently, that's why this is a factory option only, and can not be altered or added at a later time.

You think you have a problem, I have 3 Urals, one with a BMW engine! Remember what Jay Leno says, the right number of bikes to have is simply, "Just one more". I agree with the others, should have sprung for a GSA...wow hill holder, like a Studebaker...
IMO the nose on the racer is out of proportion and not true to a cafe style. Glade you like it but so not my cup of tea.
Those bells are nothing more than silly superstition - I've been riding 46 yrs and never even heard of them until I bought a Harley
