One thing they did was nerf the fishing eco a bit. You can't get fish nets or whatever in the classical age like in the original, you have to wait for heroic. Also they buffed land a bit by having more hunt in general.
Avoiding the water will - obviously - generally not be a good idea. The thing is that you can go to the classical age very fast too with a water build and if your enemy who avoided the water is rushing you, there's an answer fast enough. I think it's good this way, would suck if winning water doesn't give an advantage. This being said, there is probably still space for some "faking water" action or just annoy the enemy on water while pushing on land.
Would be cool if all the final tier water myth units were amphibious but less effective on land. It makes sense that a turtle a crab and a snake would be able to.
I would like to see in the future when the stress test comes or when the game is out that we can get a twtich/youtube chat on the screen for you. I like the chats on screen
Yes, they do 50 crush damage, which is meant for destroying buildings and such. 2.5x vs boats. But you dont have access to them in classical age, which is when the water fighting is going on. You might lose the game before you can age up to get them :/ Not 100% sure if the numbers are the same in retold, but as far as I have seen, very much is the same. And maybe some boats are too fast to hit with catapults? So perhaps ballista is better vs boats if thats a problem, idk.
In the old games at least guard towers get a huge damage bonus vs ships but the best way to get back into the water is often to attack hard on land so they delete their ships to free up pop to build a land army to defend.
Playin against matty boi is like disgusting dude!!! 38 fishing ships for food 43 dwarves for gold and 28 gatherer for wood ??? And he didnt event click balder for ragnarok :D
Well... if you want to avoid the water... you could play on a map without it? But like... if you just aren't exploiting a resource and the other guy is... ummmmm... yeah no you're behind.
@@Yodesla Should there be a build that counters having 10-20 unraidable food villagers when you decide to not be able to interact with them? Honestly, if there's a problem I have with this game in particular it's that it seems like the Siege Ship is probably OP as an opener because it hard counters Arrow Ships and it's counter has to actually get into melee with it... and for good players in AoE2 the Galley is better than the Fire Galley for fighting military because the Fire Galley has to catch it and with good micro the Galley player can win that matchup, so I wonder if the same will apply to the Siege Ship vs Hammer Ship... and Arrow Ships pretty clearly can't dodge terribly well. And... it really didn't seem like Magic had a good way to recover... maybe if he'd tried to keep contesting water but done so more lightly and put vills on food to get Heroic Age faster? But like... how does he deal with the fact that then Matreus effectively has more villagers than he does to make that work? And like... is the Scylla as immediately potent as a Kraken? A Kraken comes out and just sinks a ship, a Scylla comes out and needs to eat stuff for a while to get it's DPS up...
As a long time fan of competitive aomtt gameplay I might have seen 2, maybe 3 games where a player faked water and land rushed the opponent instead and win. So... yeah, not impossible for sure but clearly risky.
First 4 minutes you are showing us the pond. Not interesting (show us the build orders of villagers, where they put each villager etc.). Also why zoom out so much? It's so tough to distinct units already, now we can barely see them. +Why are you so excited and you raise your voice whenever a unit pops out? Shouldn't you save those loud moments for epic battles?
Gotta find myself someone who gets as excited to see me as Yodesla when he sees the Kraken.
bro ive been waiting for this for over 20 years. U gotta cut me some slack haha!
your excitement for the kraken killed me
Bro it looks so cool. Can you blame me? Lol
What an exciting match. Naval battles are actually fun now.
its so great!
RELEASE THE KRAKEEN ! 😂
RELEASE THE KRAKEEEENNN!
ANOTHER KRAKEN HEADING TO THE SHORE!!!!!
they are so cool LOL!
This match was like one of those anime of doubtful origin where tentacles are involved. What a massacre
Bro what 😆
@@ScathachQueen i this physical tentacle or magical tentacle like Elfen Lied ?

i have no complaints with this! It makes for more diverse strategies!
Thank you for the high res uploads! Work is slow, so I can enjoy this greatness at 1440p
1440p and 4k! and even more important is the high bitrate! So even during peak action no artifacts!
Its a fair fight until the kraken come out
2 krakens🤣
once he second kraken comes out its lights out
Metal sfx for the golden boar is missing I think... That would truly be nostalgic.. Why would they leave it out..
thats crazy i can hear that in my head. I forgot about it
Your excitement with the Kraken made me subscribe haha
hahahah ITS SO COOL!
Get yourself someone who is as excited to see *you* as Yodesla is to see that kraken XD (10:46)

what do u mean? The chat prob isnt a good idea to be on screen for vods tho
@Yodesla well most aoe2 streamers have twitch chat on screen. But it's all good
Matreiuss went to the beach and chosen violence lol that water battle was insane!
The water looks so good in this game
It really does!
This game is gonna be fun. Command and conquer game style
LOL i hope so!
the dragon ship does have a dragon head on it when you upgrade it
Oh sick
All the resources that can be used are usefull 😅 Finding a strategy that does not use pigs/sheep is difficult 😂

IamMagic great as always but DAMN he got humbled
That was beautiful
i got even better games uploading over the next few days and weeks!
Yoda best player confirmed lol
Lmao not yet xd
I am assuming that catapults has a damage bonus against ships as well. So you have a chance to push back should you lose the water?
hmmm im not sure! This is a good point tho! Will have to look into it if they have another beta!
