Our public transport system problem is inextricably intertwined with the problem of our class apartheid city characterized by spatial inequalities in the form of cheap labor economy ethnic enclaves, called townships, on peripheries of our cities. Little wonder then that the World Bank has declared South Africa as one of the most inefficient cities in the world distinguished by predominant ethnic-specific informal mode of transport - the deadly, unreliable mini-bus share taxi they call "public transport."
