  • In 1984 Six Flags over Mid America (now St. Louis) opened "Rail Blazer" as the "new ride" opening for the new season. While it wasn't a full new coaster, what they did do was replace the trains on the Mine train with stand up trains. while it may have been a good idea at the time, and it would have been one of few stand up coasters built at the time, but unfortunately the coaster didn't even last a full season. at the start of the season, a woman fell to her death from the coaster as it traveled around the portion of the ride where there was a helix. The ride was closed immediately after the accident, and the mine train cars were put back on the track when the park opened the coaster the following season.
