My mother was an Army nurse in the South Pacific, she met my army father there. Neither of them would speak a word of their experience. I have to watch and read other people’s stories to try to understand their view.
Both your parents are my heroes. As an ex USAF Nurse during VietNam era your mother, as all the other WW2 Nurses we're my role models. Your parents helped gives us our greatest gift, freedom - great genetics you have.
I had a friend that fought against the japanese. Neither did he ever speak of it I'm sure it was too horrific
My mother's first cousin which was like a brother to her was killed in Australia. By the Japs
@trishrobbins9942
My Uncle Aldo (Army) served in WW2 in the pacific.
I would ask him lots of questions about his service and his experiences.
He would tell me alot because he knew that I was really interested.
After the America dropped the bombs on Japan.
My uncle Aldo was exposed to the radiation and had Cancer for many years.

Thank you

This has been the best movie I’ve seen in a long time.
A touching story and a credit to all those who suffered in the war. A great film to watch.
Thank you for sharing i always listen to my grandfather story about ww2 the Japanese army are very cruel to them..
Incredibly brave ladies!
What brilliant actress and the movie as well watch the movie of the time of War suffering and who would know what those that lived it . God bless our veterans.
Susan Sarandon is such a great actress with 26 nominations as best actresses, only a few times she won. I have always admired her. ♥️💫🙏💫
I also like her movies but she should just keep to acting and not get involved in politics and now I won't watch her movies sad
@@fayolivier2416 Why not? She's one of the few actors in Hollywood with any real convictions about the real world. More celebrities should talk about politics given the platforms they have available to them. There's more to life than pure escapism.
Used to like her but NOT ANYMORE. 😮
😮it’s not about acting it’s what they we thought
Kristy MC n. Is such a great actress. I wish her all the best. She is a gem in this film. Great story. Susan is a great actress too. She Jas a stellar career.
Great movie 🎬 ♥️
I think this was pretty great!
I would like to think I would have that courage, but to go through want these men and women did is truly amazind
Many Australian nursing staff where imprisoned after the fall of Singapore in 41
Have you seen the Anglo Australian limited series TENKO ? Just excellent .. and can be found here on YT
@@donofon1014 I have it
Sisters Under the Rising Sun is an amazing book that shares their stories
Good job that I have seen this film before, as this channel has excessive adverts

"To End All Wars" is a truer account if you dare.
That was a good movie
Ang ganda👍😁
Oo Kabayan. Based yan story sa mga talagang nangyari dito sa bayan natin. Inabutan yan WW2 ng parents ko at kahit matagal ng natapos ang WW2, nag ngingitngit pa sila sa mga Hapon. =)
❤❤❤
I think I used to catch this film all the time on TV.
I used to watch Tenko , (a woman’s ) Japanese camp in the East Indies, it was a TV series , I never knew that later I would meet an older lady that was in a camp at the age 12 with her mother close to that camp, I sat with her later at her side as she died with Cancer.
@@ruffy99020011 I watched Tenko also, it was a very powerful series, and showed us the endurance of those very courageous women prisoners under their Japanese captors. Indeed, I thought of that programme whilst watching this.
😂❤🎉😂❤🎉❤😂🎉BEAUTIFUL MOOOOOOOOOOOVIE😂❤😂❤🎉❤😂🎉❤THANK'S😊
I'd love to know what the Captain said after his man pulled a gun after the striptease, and what he said that stopped the self suicide.

Great movie 2/24/24

Gracie is my fav😂
I really do not like Susan Sarandon. I almost stopped watching this when I saw her name. This role was tailor made for her. I am so glad I watched it. I was surprised when the movie ended and all of that time had passed. I very much enjoyed this movie
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
this is what happens when a country is not prepared and we weren't prepared before WWII. Our military is now smaller than it was before WWII.
Thanks to O-B
And this movie doesn’t even show a quarter of what the prisioners of the Japanese went through…
Would have been better if Susan Sarandon would have played Tokyo Rose which would have been a more fitting role for her.
I noticed one discrepancy from the real history:
the survivors of the Bataan Death March were NOT marched to ‘San Miguel’ which the film puts it.
They were marched from the battlefield in the province of Bataan
to the town of San Fernando, province of Pampanga in the Island of Luzon (104 kms, 65 mi)
From there they loaded them on railroad box cars to Camp O’Donnell
in the town of Capas, province of Tarlac (43 kms away).
You are absolutely correct I have driven that route from Batann to Fernando the road is very hilly in the beginning but flattens out close too San Fernando. I can not imagine walking this route. And to this day there is very little there other than farm land.
😂❤🎉❤😂🎉❤😂🎉❤😂❤🎉I LOVE ACTRICE SUSAN 😂 BECAUSE SHE IS WONDEERFUL WOMAN❤🎉😂❤🎉🎉❤😂❤🎉😊😅
Funny thing is McAurther didnt ground the aircraft they were refueling for another patrol
MacArthur did many bizarre things.
Well at least they were allowed to keep their lipstick, mascara and eye shadow.

This 1986 TV-Movie is a work of fiction.
There were no women nurses in the Bataan Death March.
Some Navy women nurses were incarcerated in civilian inmates camp
at Santo Tomás University campus in Manila.
Then later they were transferred to the civilian inmates camp in Los Baños, Laguna
in the campus of the College of Agriculture of the University of the Philippines.
They were rescued on February 23, 1945 by the U.S. Army’s 11th Airborne Division
with the help of the local Filipino guerrillas (Hunters ROTC Guerilla Group).
About 1/3 into this there was 6 examples of poor writing, but because of them of true story I kept watching.
I am going into a medical trial later this year. They will be editing one of my genes, and if it works it will cure me of my high cholesterol. I am on the highest dose available of cholesterol medication, and the medicine is not working, this is my only hope of getting it under control. I hope it works.
I like the subject of this movie, but what. No hour long scene of the women working like slaves under the blazing sun, backbreaking labor like chopping trees or digging graves? What's the point then?
Every country that came against in United States should not be allowed to step on the grounds of the United States Mouse less to be educated here or to live here
They don't have the right to live in United States !!! Ever!
Very little is known about or circulated about the cruelty, inhumanity of Japanese to their Allied prisoners. Nothing in comparison to the information about the Nazis, Russians during WWII.
Eller Fransmän i Tyskland....
And the country that committed these horrible acts still flies that same "meatball" flag today that flew over occupied countries and enslaved Prisoners Of War. Now the Japanese prime ministers honor the war criminals whose ashes are kept at the Yasukuni Shrine.
Wrong history... it's opposite of history
Mixing cute with a POW movie doesn't work.. and perfectly white tops ? Lazy movie making
So many people were shut up in prison camps all over the world in WW2 many suffered and died what the Japanses did always they were a fanactical race of people who got their justice when the USA dropped the Atom Bomb on them shame it was only two should have been 10. Lovely lady actresses in thisfilm very touching and well performed nice directing as well God Bless America!
Mumy grandfather wasa driver if q fuel convoy in the d esert snd was blown ip s as boupk le of tolesbut refused to talk about it
Can we have an overview of American women taken captive by the Japanese? None were, it's a lie. Ask Vivian Bullwinklez an Australian who was interred by the Japanese. Stop trying to re-write history
This film is so incredibly hokey...but I guess it has some incredible sense of fake... and maybe could have a form of entertainment...
Total Hollywood Crap...
最低な映画‼️⤵️
You don't see any Woman bringing back a Japanese husband although many American Men brought back Japanese wife's who would be half there age 🤔.
Susan why do you make a flick like this about good American humans when she is diametrically apposed as a real leftest demicrate. I thank God for weman that service our country.
Are you NUTS?
Acting was phenomenal!
Strikes me as US. BS.
Acting sucked. Written terribly.
Kristy McNichol was and is still absolutely amazing and wonderful . From her starring days in the 70s & 80s and Empty Nest in the 90s. ❤️🫶🏻😊🇨🇦
I enjoyed watching her. She looked like she looked in the 70s. Sad her character didn't make it to the liberation. =)
@@dieabeticgamingph7729 Always loved Kristy and had such a teenaged crush on her brother Jimmy McNichol in the late 70s. Kristy won 2 Primetime Emmy Awards for her part as Buddy Lawrence on ABC’s FAMILY 1975-1980. She and her brother were part of my middle school years.
The original one that's in black and white is 10 times better than this one 😂
What was the original movie you are talking about
Name?
Proudly we Hail, Claudette Colbert, Paulette Goddard, /veronica Lake. I think Robert Mitchum had a part. Yes, better than this movie. Showed them in prison. What they went through. Great movie with the great oldies.
This has been the best movie I’ve seen in a long time.
