What on Earth do you mean by Holly(woke)wood? Yes, the movie is very good. But is being woke - which just mean you are aware of hostorical injustices and stand for equality for all - wrong? If you look at history and fascism I would say: no. More people should be ‘woke’.

Especially when movies/entertainment start twisting history to push a progressive agenda. A common one being resistance fighter movements (such as the French one) fighting for freedom for the French - yet somehow now it's being portrayed as them fighting for the freedom of ethnic minorities, homosexual people, trans people, etc. The vast majority of these resistance fighters would have been considered fairly conservative in today's politics. Many movies seem to portray Germans/Nazis as standing for everything evil and wrong in the world from TODAY'S political perspective, not the one during WWII.

Let's not forget that the vast majority of Austrians supported joining Germany. And that a lot of the top Nazis during the war were Austrians. The opposition got more support only when Germany started to lose the war. And it was better to be separated from the fate of Germany.

The obvious place someone on the run or hiding can be caught is if they are stupid enough to go home or to friends. The most often method of getting caught is by driving and transportation. The guy went to his wife when he knew the Germans were after him...dumb. Rules of life on the run.

I'm bi-lingual English/German. Admittedly some of the heavily--accented dialogue is hard (even for me with my south German background) to follow - but I didn't find anything really significant missing in the subtitles.......... overall, a good job.
@@2uksteve Let's not forget this is Austrian German and the protagonists speak in Austrian dialogue. That is sometimes indeed difficult to understand.

@@MyCinemaEurope I’m from a military family and my Dad was a decorated combat vet, as was his twin, in that war, and uncles and grandfathers were also combat vets in multiple wars. My master’s degree is in military history and few war movies hit me hard, but this one certainly did just that… Keep up the good work in giving us such movies!

After the founding of the BRD and the DDR, making the two-state Germany official, there is very little attention paid by Hollywood, so German history after the war is something only die-hard historians take an interest in.
Fact is that with Konrad Adenauer as the first post-war German chancellor, a general amnesia was the official posture. Many of the lower=ranking bureaucrats and government officials returned to working in a governmental capacity of one form or another. After all, they had the expertise and labor was in short supply.
By and large, there was no big appetite for retribution and revenge on a wide-spread, all-encompassing scale. So yeah, I believe pension and seniority on the job was taken into account. It's a fact that the widow of Freisler, the infamous Nazi hanging judge, collected his pension from the new government until her death.
The Allied powers denazified many of the protagonists of the Second World War. But it is unfortunately also a fact that Nazis were able to continue to exist in Germany after the Second World War, or had started a new life.
