I went ahead and bought my Kanken from the official website because there are a lot of fakes out there that are looking more and more convincing, but I feel like this is so in depth that even the good fakes can be found out. More informative than other videos I’ve watched. So if I ever do get another and buy it elsewhere, I’ll refer back to this.
I had a bag that I could have sworn up and down it was real until I watched this video. The biggest red flags I found I overlooked were the eye shape of the fox, the accent mark on Kanken on the tags inside, and the flag being incorrect. All things I NEVER would have given a second glance until this video. However, if anyone is having second thoughts and wants to know if theres is genuine seriously go to a store that has them and compare the canvas the bag is made out of as well as other little odd things pointed out in this video. You'll honestly feel silly for not noticing these differences. Lord knows I did. Again, I wouldn't even of gave my bag a second thought until I saw this video. Thank you!
Ahaha I'm so glad the video helped! Those small details were exactly the reason why I made the video in the first place as they were the kind of things I always questioned when I first got the fake bag, but I noticed a lot of other videos didn't seem to mention them at all. It's good to know that it actually has helped others!
I believe some authentic ones the ° won’t touch the A’s since it’s the old batch. I’ve one purple violet which is authentic and the ° isn’t touching the A
You really used that fake one, enjoy the "real" one now :) If I buy one, now I know, tnank you. The real ones are really expensives, now I know why. The fakes are made in China or from Suecia as well?
Please be aware that some of the "fake" features can also be found on real kankens due to changes in newer/older editions. To make things clearer, here are some features that you should definitely look out for regardless of what edition of the kanken you have: 1. The material - there is a clear difference in material so please look carefully at the comparisons (6:26) 2. The tag - there are different variations between kanken tags (the one I showed in the video is a newer version), however any grammar or spelling error is an immediate indication that you have a fake. 3. The name patch - again, there are different variations however please check the accents carefully. Make sure that there is an accent above the a in "kanken" and that it looks like this: å. 3. The inside labels - please check the material comparisons carefully (4:52) 4. The swedish flag - some editions may not have this. However for those that do, please check the comparisons carefully (4:39) 5. Most importantly, the overall build quality is a big give away. You can see the differences throughout the entire video with things like the inside and outside pouch, the side pockets, the stitching, etc. Kankens are pretty expensive bags that are made to last, so how it withstands wear overtime is important to look out for. As you can see, there are many signs of wear in the fake that would rarely show in a real kanken. These can include: - tearing of the outside material - discolouring of the zips - the zips breaking/falling off - etc. These are pretty reliable signs of telling whether your kanken is fake, however these are all just based off experience. The only way to know for sure is to just make sure you're buying your kanken from an authentic, verified seller!
Thanks for this! I was shook at first, mine doesn't have a Swedish flag but I 1000% bought it from a renowned seller. Your comment was such a relief! :)
I got mines from Dillards which when I looked on the website of Kaken was an authorized seller so I am okay am I it had the paper but I lost it and it has the letter on the zipper and the flag
I just retracted my offer for one on eBay, after looking at a few I noticed how the accents over the A on the logo were different and it put me off. Thank you!
@@akihoe it all depends on the seller - some kankens on amazon are actually listed by fjallraven (the actual company) but a lot of the other ones, especially the cheaper ones, are fake :/
i have a fake one and its obvious to tell just by quality and i know its fake! back when i got it i thought it was the real website i bought it from when it actually wasnt. im getting a real one and im happy to be supporting their company and their good causes
The difference in quality between the genuine and the fake is pretty obvious on the inside of the bag. I have one which is the real deal, and one which is definitely not! The stitching and the feel of the material on the fake are so, so different. It was cheap, sold unused on an online auction site (hmm... I wonder what site that'd be?!) by a seller who had bought it thinking it was genuine, then acquired a real one. So they sold the fake, and were honest about what it was. It was cheap, so we'll see how long it lasts.
That is true, but i think that there are certain aspects of the real bag that fakes will never get completely right, especially the material. That being said, I do hope that fjallraven create a way of properly authenticating their products (like a one-time code or unreplicable seal), especially with the number fakes that are ready available to buy.
I bought a LV bag gtdupe years ago. I took it to the LV store in my town last week to have it repaired. The store clerk inspected my bag and immediately told me that the bag was of good quality. She pulled a current bag out of inventory and compared the tags and I found zero differences

Thank you for the video. I bought the backpack yesterday with normal price (around USD 110,5 converted with my money currency) from authorized Fjällräven Kånken reseller in my country. The tags, material, zippers, straps, buttons, side pockets, grammar, even with smallest details are 100% same as you mentioned and presented. So I guess I have the genuine one with newer edition. Apart from using the backpack for work, I also support their fjällräven foundation.
Got my 1st Kanken 2 days ago. after watching this video, I think my Kanken is fake.. mine doesn’t have WJ branding in the black buckles and the top button’s fox faces different direction 💔 thanks for the video tho, will sure be careful next time 😢
Yes the color of the D U P B A G Y is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
So my bag has every single thing perfect except for one thing in the inside summary/contact label. Everything about it is exact except it doesn't have the lil Swedish emblem printed on it. It does have the right flag in the right place though. Is this normal for older/newer models or is that a true sign of a fake?
I bought mine from an authorized retailer, but the name patch on it has name, address & contact but the flag is same as the original one in the video.. And the seat pad I have don't have the sticker but overall everything is the same just the name patch... I'm confuse now O_O
Which retailer was it from? The kanken I showed was the newer version and compared to the older version, they’ve changed the front logo, name patch, tag and added a swedish flag. I’m not too sure when these changes were made and whether there is an edition like the one you’ve described but if it is from an authorised retailer it should definitely be genuine.

hi! i got a kanken recently and i chanced upon ur video, i got it off online from a reseller and the person provided me receipts and all of the purchase and it was from hk fjallraven, but after watching this video im having second thoughts whether its real now........ bc some seems like the fake one :-(.... did i get scam for the 3rd time? 😭
hey! don't worry, it seems like the reseller is genuine since they provided receipts. it could always just be that it's a newer/older version that has a few different features from the one shown in the video :)
got mine off ebay and while the patch makes me think fake because of the A's and the eye, the rest of it matches the real description. oh except that the inside tag also has address on it
I bought 3! 1st in austin, tx in some college store, 2nd in some hella sketchy website which turned out to be FAKE, and 3rd in Nordstrom.. you can clearly tell a difference between fake & real
I received a kanken mini from Urban Outfitters for Christmas my mom ordered off the website it really seems fake. It doesn’t have the sticker on the seat pad as well as the label doesn’t have the flag or the other symbol. The stitches and stuff look good and it’s waterproof but it doesn’t have the key things to signify it being real. Also the fjallraven on the front isn’t reflective.
Urban Outfitters is an official retailer of Fjallraven products, so it's definitely genuine! I guess it might just be because it's an older edition or that the mini has different features to the classic? Either way you don't need to worry about the authenticity of your kanken :)
@@daisy9993 thanks for reassuring me, I figured that earlier after I talked with my mom some more. I think it may be a lemon. The coloring on the handles are pretty splotchy lighter in some places. I love it though flaws and all. Next time I’ll buy one in store or directly from the fjallraven site.
Mine has all of the traits of the original shown in the video except an older version of the tag. I was wondering if it was fake as I bought it from an online reseller that is still listed as a verified seller on the official fjallraven site. I'm just worried I got scammed and paid full price for a fake. The fabric of mine is "rough" and feels stiff. It looks different from some I have seen people wear on the streets. My bag is very matte, has no shine and is a little noisy. Is anyone elses bag also like this and not fake?
Hey, that's exactly what the material should be like! The people you see on the streets most like just have a fake. You don't need to worry at all about your kanken not being genuine, especially since it was brought from a verified seller :)
oh hell, my kanken is....half fake? idk, but it made from original materials, I guess. :DDD maybe that`s an old version. (I bought kanken laptop and I didn`t found the seat pad, lel.)
Yep, all the links are 100% real! Some retailers just use the older edition photos which may have that logo too. I've also heard from several people that their logo looks like the "fake" one, despite purchasing from a genuine retailer and that's usually just because they received slightly older stock.
my cousin’s bag checks off most of the boxes except for the Swedish flag and the water test. The horizontal line on the flag is crooked and I believe that it’s a different stitching than yours. When I poured water on it, the bag soaked it right up. My cousin has had it since august and the bag shouldn’t soak up water like that right???
sometimes the water test isn't too reliable as the bag may become less water resistant as it ages and the real kanken isn't actually 100% waterproof however the swedish flag is a big tell since most fakes don't care about the detailing, as long as it's even there so it's most likely a fake - hope that helps!
@@alexysese1437 alexy sese oh that's strange actually as i'm pretty sure nordstrom is an authorised retailer so maybe the crooked flag is just from use?
I have seen so many videos on kanken about its authenticity. The circle above the A in kanken touches the A in mine too. But i have seen some videos where the circle above the A in kanken doesn’t touch. Can anyone tell me which one is real and which one is fake ??
Hii, thanks for the video. I bought one from an instagram page (I know). It is a classic kanken. So I asked the page and it told me their bags are OEM (original Equipment Manufacturer). So I was wondering if that’s a fake or an original one 😰. I haven’t received it yet, but when I got it I’ll look for the details
yikes.. when i was looking for a kanken i got a ton of instagram ads promoting them for a really good price and none of them seemed legit. in fact i actually think i brought a black one from an instagram ad too, but that turned out to be a really cheap looking fake so i wouldn't have high hopes, sorry :/
@@daisy9993 well, that sucks :( lol. But thank you for answering and when my kanken arrives I'll inspect it really closely and update you. Thanks for your video!
Flurry Heart i really wouldn’t recommend a fake one especially when it comes to day-to-day use as there is genuinely a big difference in quality and the amount of wear you could get out of a real kanken is so much more compared to a fake one
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the D U P B A G Y as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
If it's really hard to tell whether your kanken is fake or real, then it's most likely a fake, although the most reliable way is definitely to authenticate the retailer.
Hey, where was your kanken purchased from? I’m not too sure if it’s actually authentic as i’ve noticed that many fakes don’t get the small details right, especially the button placements
Esther T There is a genuine colour style called ‘Air-blue striped’ although from what i’ve seen, it doesn’t seem as if it’s ready available from many sites.
daisy Ic... cause In sg this seller is selling she got as gift.. every thing kinda checks out so I’m thinking of buying but there are 1-2 things... I can’t tell thru pics like button
@@bekind9187 I'm not sure where you could send me the photos but you could comment the link to the bag? I'm not sure if I'll be able to tell if it's real or not but I'll try.
I think people jump on a deal, were gifted it, got it second hand, just simply want to confirm what they know/think or something feels off and they unknowingly got a fake one as they thought it was the website somehow or that it was a legit retailer of the bag. I'm only checking as I got it second hand from a charity shop, so it likely could be real, but also it could not be and they have not realised. Although it is a different style, the Totepack, I figured at least some things would be the same.

I little Bit Worries cause my logo is kinda different so I decided to Read Other Comment and now I know Thx everyone !
my kanken has sweedish flag but there isn’t a logo
i ordered from the original website what sould i do
Don't worry, that just means it's an older edition of the bag, so it's definitely still authentic!
For mine everything is the same as the real one expect the buttons they are slightly tiled? I’m confused :/
Bernice Ong it’s probably a very good fake as real kankens have buttons with all the foxes facing the exact same direction
Well I guess I bought a fake one for only 15$. It was soo obvious tho xD
hi! i got a kanken recently and i chanced upon ur video, i got it off online from a reseller and the person provided me receipts and all of the purchase and it was from hk fjallraven, but after watching this video im having second thoughts whether its real now........ bc some seems like the fake one :-(.... did i get scam for the 3rd time? 😭
hey! don't worry, it seems like the reseller is genuine since they provided receipts. it could always just be that it's a newer/older version that has a few different features from the one shown in the video :)
daisy it doesnt have the sturdy back pocket though :-(
jingleberry where did u buy from?
I bought my kanken from the original fjallraven store but it’s not waterproof 😕
oh noo :/
my kanken isn't completely waterproof either as it's only supposed to be "water resistant" so that may be why?
daisy yea maybe but also happy new year !!🥳🥳
Amzary Amran Thank you, happy new year to you too!! 🎉🎉
got mine off ebay and while the patch makes me think fake because of the A's and the eye, the rest of it matches the real description. oh except that the inside tag also has address on it
I think the older versions had an address part on it but I'm not too sure
Does anyone know if Tillys has real Kanken backpacks? I found some and I think they may be real but it wasn’t listed in the description.
I think I have a fake one but some of the real things are on mine lol
Gabriella George same
Daisy where did u buy ur 500ml flask?? I rlly like it :D
I got it from Wilko!
@@daisy9993 oh cool!
I bought 3! 1st in austin, tx in some college store, 2nd in some hella sketchy website which turned out to be FAKE, and 3rd in Nordstrom.. you can clearly tell a difference between fake & real
I have a real kanken bag (I bought it from the official fjallraven shop) and there is no WASA 6 on the buttons
Oh, that's strange - maybe you're not looking in the right place? It should be on all three buttons on the other side of the fox logo x
Natali Ogorodnik maybe it’s an old model
Just realized my bag is fake kanken, I pay $30 at the thrift store😭😭😭😭😭 (my precious $30) lolllll
does anyone know if the Kankens on indigo are real or fake?
Very useful video. Thanks!
(I bought kanken laptop and I didn`t found the seat pad, lel.)
me: buys it cheap at the market
also me: :O
Excellent video!
Are you sure that all the links are real? One Page has kanken with the circle over the letter. So it has to be fake right?
Yep, all the links are 100% real! Some retailers just use the older edition photos which may have that logo too. I've also heard from several people that their logo looks like the "fake" one, despite purchasing from a genuine retailer and that's usually just because they received slightly older stock.
How long have you been using your fake ones? They sure look worn out
Less than a year :/ I guess it goes to show the fakes really aren't worth it.
i’m defo getting one for next year
After a while, I forget which is real
my cousin’s bag checks off most of the boxes except for the Swedish flag and the water test. The horizontal line on the flag is crooked and I believe that it’s a different stitching than yours. When I poured water on it, the bag soaked it right up. My cousin has had it since august and the bag shouldn’t soak up water like that right???
sometimes the water test isn't too reliable as the bag may become less water resistant as it ages and the real kanken isn't actually 100% waterproof however the swedish flag is a big tell since most fakes don't care about the detailing, as long as it's even there so it's most likely a fake - hope that helps!
daisy ty so much for responding!! My auntie bought it for her at Nordstrom and I’ll admit it was pretty convincing up until the flag :/
@@alexysese1437 alexy sese oh that's strange actually as i'm pretty sure nordstrom is an authorised retailer so maybe the crooked flag is just from use?
daisy I’ve compared the flag to other real bags and some of them had the flag slightly crooked so if it was just how it’s stitched :/
I have seen so many videos on kanken about its authenticity. The circle above the A in kanken touches the A in mine too. But i have seen some videos where the circle above the A in kanken doesn’t touch. Can anyone tell me which one is real and which one is fake ??
mine is real and the circle above the a in kanken does touch
I have Raven 28, it's just that behind the label there is no PO number, is it fake?
Please help me
Hello I have a question:Wich since have you ? Is 16L right?
yep, both 16L!
mine was real but the inside of the buttons are a little different
The surfdome prices are very low, are they fake?
No, they're real! Surfdome is actually an authorised retailer of fjallraven :)
I have a fke one but it has a original characters 😂
Are you recomending a fake one?
Flurry Heart i really wouldn’t recommend a fake one especially when it comes to day-to-day use as there is genuinely a big difference in quality and the amount of wear you could get out of a real kanken is so much more compared to a fake one
Me: Figures out my Fjallraven is fake 🥴 :/
My Kanken is also fake but this bag it is the very good
got a fake :( I knew it was too cheap to be true
Well, fuck. I've just learned mine is a fake.
Well
Guess I got a fake one
😂
Mam 3 i same fejki 😂 ale dzięki za film otworzył mimiczny jak temu liskowi 👍
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the D U P B A G Y as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
I still dont know if mines fake or real tho
If it's really hard to tell whether your kanken is fake or real, then it's most likely a fake, although the most reliable way is definitely to authenticate the retailer.
Mine is authentic but the foxes in the strap buttons face different sides :/
Hey, where was your kanken purchased from? I’m not too sure if it’s actually authentic as i’ve noticed that many fakes don’t get the small details right, especially the button placements
Solid!
Im getting one form macy i saw them and its real
Does the original have air Striped blue
Esther T There is a genuine colour style called ‘Air-blue striped’ although from what i’ve seen, it doesn’t seem as if it’s ready available from many sites.
daisy Ic... cause In sg this seller is selling she got as gift.. every thing kinda checks out so I’m thinking of buying but there are 1-2 things... I can’t tell thru pics like button
daisy is it posible for me to send u the pics and u help me see if it’s real?
I also know that there are some authentic made in China or Hong kong
@@bekind9187 I'm not sure where you could send me the photos but you could comment the link to the bag? I'm not sure if I'll be able to tell if it's real or not but I'll try.
daisy it’s in carosell .. I think I’ll do a private video and send u link
Lol how do people buy fake fjallraven stuff? Order from the website.
Ugh im so bad 😡 i bought kanken for 90 dollars and its a fake
Don't worry it's probably the older version , some things could have change :)
How about Kajka
mine are fake 😭
oh nooo where was yours from? :(
daisy shopee
AngeliAiko it was like RM49 or something
Dont worry! Is just a back pack. Nothing is change :) enjoy your own.
its just a bag it's worth it
Mine is fake :( but i like her
Thank you
If you're unsure of where to buy an authentic kanken, please check the description! I've listed several websites that often have sales and discounts available on their Kankens, as well as a link where you can check whether the website you're purchasing from is genuine or not :))
Thank you for including the list to tell whether my Kanken is authentic or not. After watching these spot the "fakes" videos today, it had me convinced that my real Kanken was fake. I got it online. I checked the site using your link and it was, in fact, an authorized dealer as I had already known. 😅
@@beverlykwakye682 Aha, no problem! I've actually brought several kankens in the past and I've definitely gone through the pain of watching so many videos but still not knowing whether they were real or not. Only recently, I found that link to check retailer authenticity and I can only wish I found it sooner!
Can you leave the link for the green and pink real kanken please. Ive been trying to find it but i cant find it anywheree
@@31oise It looks likes it currently out of stock from most retailers but here's a link to one that's still in stock (and genuine of course) www.trekitt.co.uk/39369/products/fjallraven-kanken-frost-greenpeach-pink.aspx?currency=GBP&chosenAttribute=23510-664-319-&gclid=Cj0KCQjwyur0BRDcARIsAEt86ICWa7VV4aSf9_bvHHmgCFbbi8df2djxExb_VSJOemj_G-dPPuqGSHMaAmNnEALw_wcB
hey, do you have an Instagram?? I really wanted to confirm the pictures of the bag with you before buying them and it would really help!!!cause I'm getting it shipped all the way from us and I stay in the middle East! pls reply
sorry, i'm not sure i want to share my instagram as it's kinda private but if you can think of any other way to share the photos then i'm more than happy to help! someone else made an unlisted youtube video which could be an option? hope you understand :)
@@daisy9993 hey okay so everything that you showed in the video is spot on, except the tag inside the bag, instead of italics the kanken is written in normal font
@@sugarpop1958 If everything is spot on, then I don't see an issue! Just make sure you're buying from a trustworthy seller and personally, I would make sure there's a way to get your money back somehow. Do you mind me asking where you're buying from? (If you don't want to share, I completely understand)
@@daisy9993 no I'm completely fine with it, it's from depop and the seller sent me a video of mentioning everything that you told in the video like it being reflective, having the Wasa the clips etc only the inside tag didn't have the italics kanken
@@daisy9993 also, I posted a video right now my channel so if you could watch that it would be clear
I'll buy a fake one, because who tf cares.
Wow...

It is not A it is own letters in the swedish alphabet.

Again it is an own letter not a damn circle you just offended the letter Å. I am a now uppset swed.
oh my days i'm so sorry! i guess it just makes it easier to understand the mistake in the fake but all apologies to the letter Å and to the swede that i offended :(
