Theres something strangely nostalgic about this. I can 100% say its not just because of Alice because I didnt even watch the movie until much later on my life, but just the grungy, underground music mixed with early 2000's RUclips imagery, its hitting this memory thats faint but can still be recalled.

Agreed, it reminds me of my time in high school when I would get super attached to certain songs and videos and the like, coming back to watch and/or listen to them over and over again. Not sure how old this Alice in Wonderland edit is, but I guarantee that if it had existed back then and I happened across it, I would be revisiting it on a daily basis.
The song just has a very nostalgic indie music vibe to it that a lot of songs from various indie sub-genres provide, mostly because the era they can put, but some have that feeling even if they didn't come out untile the past couple years.

richardvox's remake is nice but it's missing a certain feeling to it, it's hard to recapture the kinda rough/grungy feeling this song has; the fact that it doesn't sound as polished is what makes it good imo

The Most Mysterious Song on the internet, Everybody Knows That and this one are the lost songs that left a lasting impression on me after listening to them. This one sounds nostalgic even though I have never heard of it. It's the type of song that gives “life sucks but I'll live anyways” vibes. Hope the full version would be found.

honestly, this one is pretty sad for me. it's the fact that the people who made this song likely spent so much time planning the song, and the fact that the song itself is really beautiful is pretty sad. but, its the fact that still to this very DAY, nobody knows what the song is called, who made it, or anything about it. It's also the lyrics that make it more beautiful and sad if you know what it means.

After listening to the Richardvox version for a while and coming back to this, it's pretty obvious the difference in the accent. There's a special charm to the imperfect english pronunciation that's not there in the Richardvox one, especially since it's been said that it was originally from a Chilean band.

Theory:
The background clips (the clips accompanying the song) were created in or before 2015. After looking at several videos of trippy Alice in Wonderland edit videos, it's possible the clips were made circa 2015. These clips were likely sourced and spliced together from Vine, as many trippy Alice edits came from there. How does this help with finding the song?
It helps pinpoint a date of when the song was created. In 2021, La Cancion de Alicia was brought to the attention of the Hispanic lostwave community in 2021 by Jitomate Triste. It's safe to say that the video that Jitomate uploaded was the song with the music video, meaning that he likely sourced the video from somewhere (not on Vine) and that there is a seperate video for the song without the clips (also not on Vine.) It's also safe to say that the music video with the clips was made circa 2015 and the actual song/seperate video predates the video with the clips.
TLDR: La Cancion de Alicia was made no later than 2015.
Second Theory: The clip of the song is at a higher/lower pitch than the regular song.
I am not knowledgeable about radio frequencies and analog tones, so I am likely wrong on this one. If the song was made in Spain, then the song would utilize a DVB-T tone. For HD transmissions, Spain uses MPEG-4. While the video quality is at 240p, MPEG-4 is utilized for Internet videos and audio. MPEG-4 changes the audio's pitch (by high or by low is unknown to me).
I also want to point out that since the video is at 240p, the file size per hour would be 225 MB per hour. However, it's a possibility that the video quality was changed over time, from the music video with the clips to the video Bluxid uploaded.

Third Theory (Isn't really a theory): Introducing the Richardvox cover to the 8BitDrummer will increase the chances of finding this song
This might lead to more hoaxes and fake leads, but I think we should introduce the song to the 8BitDrummer. If you guys don't know, the 8BitDrummer is a relatively popular RUclipsr who takes suggestions from fans. Fui a investigar más sobre esta canción y surgió una pregunta, ¿cómo la primera persona que hizo una publicación sobre esta historia encontró este video? Porque actualmente el único registro que existe de esta canción es esta grabación de la publicación de Facebook, pero no tiene el video original.
Le eliminaron la cuenta al usuario de Facebook por no seguir las reglas. Dicen que fue porque subia imágenes gore e inapropiadas.

How did he found it, where did it come from? This question will remain unanswered since his account was banned long ago. Did he found it from a CD? From his friend? this song makes me feel a certain way and i can't explain it. another comment mentioned it might be the mix of underground indie music and early 2000's youtube imagery , but i feel like that's only the surface.
i don't think the alice edit is the official music video for this song, but i have a feeling whoever added it added it for a reason. the singer seems to be comparing his relationship to something whimsical... phrases like "forever, forever, forever under the stars" "love is a mystery" and "if i close my eyes will somebody wake me up" definitely fits in with the theme of alice in wonderland.
comparing your feelings to someone, or just being with someone as a sort of "wonderland" is a pretty odd comparrison. i think that adds to the uncanniness of it, but in a good way. alice in wonderland is already a very weird movie without a deep plot, as it's more of an experience and journey than anything else.
there is no clear goal in sight, so in contrast to a relationship, it's a bit unnerving and hard to make sense of.
but im not very good at explaining what i mean by this, i hope someone will understand what i'm trying to get at.
that in comparison to the low audio quality, and hard to make sense of broken english, it's just a very weird thing to watch/listen to. you can't make sense of it. you cant make sense of the lyrics, you don't know any other part of the song, and to top it all off you have some random movie over it which just makes you wonder, why?

in my opinion, yes, the song is a mystery. i like it very much, and i hope we can find this lost "demo" version soon. however, i havent seen many people talk about.. the video. it's just, strange and sticks out like a sore thumb. i feel like finding out where exactly the *video* came from, will help us find the actual song.
first of all, this edit doesnt actually seem to be that old. the resolution fits most phones/modern displays, but early online videos were 4:3 because that was the common monitor resolution at the time. i guess you could say that this video was cropped to fit a phone screen for this particular facebook/youtube upload, but i noticed something at 0:30 with the image that zooms in. if this was made for a 4:3 ratio, why would the image be in this specific resolution? it fits perfectly to the corners of the screen, as if the screenshot was taken directly from a modern phone.
anyway, regardless, i highly doubt this video was made by the same people who made the song. if it was, they would have no reason to edit the video in a modern resolution because the song seems to be very old. so whoever made this video edit definitely had some sort of connection to this song. but that's not to say it's the same person who wrote the song. because, if the artist wanted to make a music video for their song.. why only make it for this part? and not the rest?
i say "connection" but i dont mean direct connection to the song itself, i mean it more in the sense that the song couldve meant something to them. maybe the low quality isnt from the original recording, perhaps it was a song only played live a few times without a proper studio recording, and this particular recording was from an old camera or phone that was found by whoever made the edit, and they decided to push it out onto the internet along with this edit. maybe this person attended a bar/venue (which explains the echo in the audio) and created a recording for whatever reason, and stumbled upon it years later, forgot about the memory, and wanted to immortalize it online.
or maybe the person who recorded wasnt the same person as the one who edited it. we'll never know, because the person who posted this on facebook didn't specify where they found it.
if only we knew, we could track down whoever made this edit and ask them where they found this song. chances are, they don't know either. because if the person who uploaded this onto facebook took it from the original source, they most likely would've either already asked the creator, OR the creator had put credits for the song in the description.

I showed this to my parents (both from Argentina, as am I), and I asked them what accent they heard from the vocals. My mum said she heard something Latin (which could include Argentinian, but also most other South American countries); my dad, interestingly, said he heard an Asian accent at first, but started to hear a Latin one when we mentioned our own observations. While I sadly don’t have any leads on this song’s identity, I find it fascinating that pretty much everyone has the same opinion on the singer’s accent.
Also, if it _is_ from Argentina, that would be pretty funny, since a pretty big band in our country, Serú Girán, has a song called “Canción de Alicia en el País”; though, unlike this audio clip, it actually _is_ about Alice in Wonderland (or rather, uses it as anti-government allegory).

Antes del internet se mandaban los sencillos o álbumes a las estaciones de radio en espera de que les dieran bola, pero la mayoría de las veces sólo se perdían entre pilas y pilas de rechazados. Es casi imposible a este punto encontrar el origen siquiera, seguro la canción fue rescatada de un almacén de mala muerte o una zona de reciclaje (yo visito seguido sitios así y se asombrarían de ver el número de discos de bandas “indie" que hay).

My theory is that this is a demo of possibly Gin & Tonic (obscure Chilean band) from one of the guitarists (You can find a video in the channel “Bandas de Chile” called “Gin & Tonic”). There is some gibberish at the near end of the chorus(?) which is pretty common in demos. It’s a pretty similar voice but who knows, maybe it isn’t at all.
