    Awesome review! I was just about to pull the trigger on a clam based on another review that said the Engel wouldn't run while charging..... THANKS!!

    Great review. I normally research before making a purchase but on a whim I bought a Clam lithium about 1 hour before watching your video. It's going to be returned and I ordered the Engel lithium.

    While I do like the lithium battery powered pumps are great, the best part about the D cell is the convenience of being able to replace the batteries when they run out. I built a LiFePo aerator box that has a 10AH 18 volt battery and it lasts for a long time. Great in-depth review!

    Finally a great rechargeable aerator. The Engle Lithium sound really quite

    Never had a rechargeable aerator - always used rechargeable batteries. But the single charge numbers you show are impressive. I wonder if Engel gonna run (or does it stop if plugged in?) if I bring a power bank and hook it up directly via USB C? Awesome review btw. Will probably get Engel when the old one dies.

    • @AlexTimm
      @AlexTimm  Год назад +1

      Yeah, if you plug the Engel in to constant power or a power bank it will just keep on going!

    Awesome reviews man. Engel for the win, I just got mine to replace the one that came with my 7.5 q bait cooler, I’m also not a fan of buying batteries.

    I feel like another test u should do is a time test in the fridge or a freezer on low to represent using it icefishing or in cold weather because i feel like the D batteries might not last as long as the lithium

    • @AlexTimm

      Yeah, thinking about doing a time test on high with them this winter

    The deeper the air stone, the more power it takes. Try it in a 5 gallon bucket filled to the top with air stone on the bottom.

    The clam comes with 4 rubber feet that go into the screw holes on the bottom to keep it up off the clip. It looks like you have one in one of the air ports.

    Have you ran the engel in the heat? Im asking because i am in arizona. Haha

    • @AlexTimm
      @AlexTimm  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, I have. It works great. I haven't put a timer on it, but not much different from room temp performance anecdotally. And still love how dang quiet it is

  • @rdit1

    I worked fantastic till it got splashed on
    Not water proof or resistant. Totally bummed
    At 50$ I won’t be replacing this. I hope in the future they make a waterproof model.

    • @AlexTimm
      @AlexTimm  Год назад

      If that happened after only being splashed on, I would highly recommend reaching out to Engel / Clam depending on which one you got, both should be able to handle that. I'm sure either company will try and help you out

    The clam comes rubber buttons to keep it from vibrating.

    So can you run the Engel lithium pack WHILE you charge it?
    Reason I ask is if I'm camping for 3 days I can't afford any down time with the unit not running.
    It'd be even better if I could rig it to work off my DeWalt 20v batteries.
    Thanks.

    • @AlexTimm
      @AlexTimm  2 года назад

      Yes you can! And I think DeWalt makes a USB adapter for their 20v batteries, so you probably can!

    Hey Alex, my first day out my air pump seized. I seem to be replacing my pump yearly. Was looking at the Engel primary because it’s rechargeable. Is this still your go to and have you had any issues with it in the past year?

    • @AlexTimm
      @AlexTimm  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, the Engel is my go to for winter and summer, no issues yet (other than the small rubber feet coming off, but that's minor as I'm hard on it)

    Do you use the 3" diffuser with the lithium aerator? I tried that and it seemed like it was over taxing the aerator. Like it was having a hard time pushing air into it.
