This is extraordinary. I've been listening to them since the early nineties and seen them live, but I had never seen or heard her channel her inner Janis Joplin like that at the end of the video.

Wowwwww this looks older, alwayz my favorite band and their live experimentations are just genius. No other band touches the lyrical and musical mastery as Portishead does 💜
The White Room ran on Channel 4 from 1994 to 1996 and was dropped because of poor viewing figures, but it was one of the last great music programmes with acts playing live in a sparse white studio. I remember watching a fabulous set by Siouxsie and the Banshees playing from their Peepshow album.
I Recorded this back in the day and from memory just as the Nicam Recorders came out. Thanks for putting this out there.Without any doubt the best Live Segments Portishead ever done.

YES. She channels her inner Janis Joplin when they perform it live for Roseland NYC. It's just a fantastic live version of this classic Portishead song. ruclips.net/video/gFh7TWUhdq8/видео.html
An outstanding performance, interrupted mid-song TWICE by RUclips to show adverts. Once was annoying, the second time just as the ending of Sour Times kicks off was unforgivable.
@@ericgrumbles447 clearly you just dont have taste or just dont put time into finding good music, theres so much good stuff out there from this year alone

Portishead is the best Portishead's cover band
😂
I assume that you are saying this performance is that bad...?

I guess if they hadn't sampled mission: impossible this could have been how it sounded.
That Telecaster is so dangerous, like Beth's voice too!!!
Gen-X metalhead here: this intensity is overwhelming and intoxicating. Wow.
Beth is the queen of darkness 🔥❤
She's the Archon of Sacred Feminine without question.
Siouxsie sioux would disagree
Si lo es y la amo!!!!
Last song... one of the best Fender Telecaster tones ever...
Beth is so cool.

Unike sound, great concept ever, olso triky
Um. Ms. Gibbons is gorgeous.
Que banda, que sentimiento que le ponen, que despelote la flaca Gibbons por dios! Todo lo que está bien en el mundo, ella y la banda en su conjunto!

This is better than the album version!
Absolutely! A fantastic live band.
bonechillin' shivers, Beth. as allways.
best version
Listen to the trip hop scratching - both sound better than the album versions
Beth goes from low register into Janis Joplin mode @ the end of Sour Times. 🤘🏽

Wow with the Janis Joplin ending!! She grabs for that water bottle Real Quick!
Genius
Fantastic, peculiar voice. A hybrid of Kate Bush and Billie Holiday. The scratching is awesome too.
you guys blow my mind pffff! too much good
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK that ending WAS EPIC
The ending of Sour Times is the only time I've seen Beth let loose and it's spine tingling.

WTF? I can't find that damn Portishead shirt on Cafe Press or anywhere!
Lol! OMG that's either brilliant social commentary or something with a lot more slobber on its chin
D una forma u otra si lo canta ella sale temazo..
ese bajo suena maravilloso
Jajaja pobre bajo, es muy bueno pero queda un poco opacada por los sintetizadores y la voz

She changed the ring in her hand for each song
what about that guitar tune?
Could someone tell me the year of this wonderfully beautiful concert?

This is a unofficial Bond song.
I kept hoping that someday they'd do Atomic Blonde with a long fight scene cut to Sour Times and it just didn't happen yet...
