Great video. I remember doing my GST and having the CFI put my plane into a spiral dive to recover... a few times.... I had to ask for a pause after the second one when I started to turn green. It's definitely a manoeuvre for a steady belly!
Hi Graeme, I hope all is well. I've always liked roller coasters so these were quite fun. But not everyone is the same. Did it take long for your head to recover?
These are great instructional videos for anyone thinking about getting their licence. Congrats! on another fine flight. Those stalls were freaky though🤪
Great stuff Giles. Never done spiral dives but the closest I guess was incipient spins, basically stalls whilst in a turn the a fast recovery. I did enjoy this Sandy
@@vracan it's to stop the excess speed pitching the nose up as the wing has reflex. If you try and pitch the nose up in a spiral dive, it just tightens the turn.

Hey Giles well-done mate once again, steep turns and spiral dives I always found could make me a bit disorientated until I got used to it, don't really know why and for me it would be worse in a trike! One thing I wanted to ask you was why you and your instructor seem to keep referring to landing short or landing long on finals I obviously know what you mean but does your instructor want you to tell him where he thinks the aircraft will touch down then?
@@GolfFoxtrot22 Ahh I see, I thought it was about judging where on the runway he thinks you will put the aircraft down i.e short or long, to me, so long as you get it down safely is really all that matters but from what you are saying he is referring to any other aircraft on the runway landing area I guess.
For some reason I'm just waiting for a spar to give way. That loading can they take before it gives in. And do you have a reserve on your pee bee ? Thanks fro bringing us all along
Hi Harry, on my Peabee yes I do have a reserve is just behind my head. On the modern flexwings you'll notice double braded cables on both sides, they can take tremendous G and are replace after so many hours/years. You'd be surprised just how strong these things are.
Hy! i follow you since you where a paramotor pilot. Nice videos! I was wandering, did you finish you nppl training yet? or the videos follow your training in real time? How much time (aproximative) does it take from start to finish to do your licence ? I am flying in Romania and i started my official training about 1 month ago and i allready finished it and took my pilot licence.
Thank you for following. The videos are not in real time with some sorted up. I'm sure that they will be appreciated with the weather getting worse and the nights drawing in. I bet the weather was good out there. Is that the UK NPPL or the Romanian Pilots licence? Just curious.

I must admit I do 360 steep turns as hitting the wake lets me know I finished at the same hight as I started. I don't look at my instrument after I start and fly them by feel and the picture out side, as I found if I look at the instruments I start chasing speed and hight.
Algy, apparently hitting your wake in a flex can be quite serious. It was briefed before we flew 270 only. The little bit of wake I did hit went right though the whole airframe and made the wing pitch quite badly. I know what you mean by using the feel but for my GST I'm sure they will want a level turn. ITs over so quickly anyway. Have you been out much lately?
@@GolfFoxtrot22 thanks for the info on flex wing intolerance to wake turbulence. Not as much as I would like mainly circuits and short local, nothing really worth putting on RUclips.
Well done again Giles. Great to watch. It's always seems sunny weather in your part of the country.
Its a lovely area and some of the flights were not so sunny. I was a good week for weather when some of the flights were filmed.
Great stuff Giles. Spirals look spicy!
It's a bit like Alton Towers without the queuing. You get as much fun in the C42😁
Another well done Giles, good lesson.
Its been a fantastic experience and it's been great editing them to share with others.
He definitely worked you hard on that flight. That's usually a very good sign in terms of readiness. Thanks for uploading! 👍
Hi Dan. they have both been pushing me in a good way, the next few videos get interesting, sorry no spoilers ;)

Hi Plumbdog, it looks like you are working your way through the collection. Welcome to the channel.
How cool are these! Thanks for taking us along with you on your NPPL journey mate!
Thanks Kyle. More fun and games to come.

Hi Sandy, its all part of the journey, It would be great to take you up one day when I pass my NPPL ;)
Good stuff 👍
Spirals are fun and scary at the same time. Scary when your in one and fun when you're out and realized you didn't die 🤣
Haha, yes Patrick I completely agree. The bar pressure is phenomenal when you are coming out.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 so you keep the wings nose down then to come out of a spiral? thats opposite for fixed wing aircraft

Thanks Greg, your advice and guidance has always stuck with me. I can only learn from the best. 😁
You and your spiral dives!
Ermm, yessss, I do like a spiral or 2...😁😂
Lots of landmarks ;) Looked like a great lesson. When do you graduate?
Yes we do - good landings = good pilot :)
Not so much graduation, but passing the General Skills Test is the culmination. All these lessons are building up to getting me to a test standard.
