  • It's not your typical brown or tan birthmark many of us have. Vascular birthmarks like port-wine stains come with potentially major impacts on the body and the mind.

      Yeah, it's like people automatically push you outside the group.
      You're always reminded that you don't fit in, and experiencing that over a lifetime is really depressing, especially when you are a social person that just wants to fit in and give people your all.

    I have this on the right side of my face staring from my mouth to the ears and down to my neck. It does quite challenging to decide whether or not to wear a mask just to cover it up, but seeing this kind of videos and campaigns on instagram about birthmark like birthmarkcommunity, I startin' to think that its okay, we are humans and nothing is perfect. Embrace your imperfections to be perfect.

    I have one from my right elbow to the middle of my back. It was small when I was born and the Dr told my mom it would go away. But, it grew bigger and bigger. I had lazer surgery on it in 1995 and an Intern did it. The Dr was supposed to be there too, but she never showed up. He did it way too long for one session and it ended up burning my skin badly. I had to even be hospitalized and my skin had to be debrided, which was VERY painful. My skin turned black and yellow liquid came out of it. It was one of the most painful endeavors I’ve ever experienced. Years later, after wearing long sleeved shirts and trying to cover it with makeup, I realized that there are so many worse things to have than a birthmark, which God gave me. Esp when I had an epidural for a C-section and my legs were completely numb. I thought how horrible it is for quadriplegics/paraplegics. It was really an eye opener for me. So then I started wearing short sleeved shirts, tank tops and even bathing suits.

    just recently i learned these kind of marks are similar to the red birthmark type spots that have become more common the older i get, apparently theyre angiomas, which are mild little blood vessel malformations. idk i just think theyre neat. theyre more sensitive to touch than the rest of my skin, but like. not in a good way, if i have an itch usually i have to avoid scratching on just those areas, cause its basically just. more blood vessel. i hope port wine stains arent as overly sensitive!

    • @NANA-su5ql
      @NANA-su5ql 2 года назад

      Oh yea no port wine stains aren't any more or less sensitive than any other part of the skin, mine is on my hand so if it was super sensitive it would be a disaster.

    "Fixing it"
    Do you "fix" africans as well?
    What if you are don't want to have to artificially change yourself for others?
    If I can't criticise you for your eyes not being perfect, or your skintone being outside my comfort zone, then you can't do that to me either.
    People are so hypocritical, I swear... they don't want to be criticised, but they feel like they have the right to tell people with less-common deformities to just go and "fix themselves". Smh 🤦🏻
