I am from Colombia, and Yesterday I met Jared Bush (one of the directors of the movie) here in Bogotá. He fell in love with us, with Colombian people, places, different cultures and music, and said it was a great challenge to represent so many different cultures within our country in just an hour and a half but I think he did a great job. Hope you guys like the movie. Have
I understand why you're so proud because I was myself with " Ratatouille "
I'm from Colombia Parcera
I’d love one day for a Malagasy (Madagascan) Disney story would be amazing to see what they could do with the heritage of my family’s home country
@@ajandrianjafymusic I'm born in Madagascar too but I grew up in France because I'm adopted
Yo también soy de Colombia, pero vivo en la ciudad de Cartagena.
38:00 “…I was so afraid to lose it, that I lost sight of who the miracle was for” - a simple but oh-so common mistake to make in life; I suppose that sentiment is what has made this film such a big hit with its audiences. Brilliant, empathetic reaction, girls.
The scene where Mirabel and Abuela Alma hug with the yellow butterflies surrounding them is a real place in Colombia called Caño Cristales. 🇨🇴
Dikoumpump
Ptnoymoynp🎉❤
Dos Oruguitas hits so close to home. My girlfriend lives in Colombia. She looks just like young abuela from the flashback scenes and she just lost her father six months ago. It makes me cry every time I hear the song. It will be another two months before I can see her again. She is mi mariposa.
I'm so glad the girls took the opportunity to watch one of the most beautiful, colorful, musical, heart touching Disney movies ever crafted. Though I am of Mexican descent and not Colombian, I could still connect to the Madrigal family's struggle and complicated family dynamic, and especially Mirabel's case. I loved it, and I will continue to watch it again and again!!!
I was watching Howard Ho break down "We Dont Talk About Bruno" (You should really check out the full thing) and he made such a good point about Mirabel and her role in the family;
"...In the song she gets everyone to talk about Bruno and gets the Madrigals Family to sing a polyphonic madrigal and if all of these voices are singing independently there is a very big chance people will come in at the wrong place or in the wrong key or out of tune. At the center of this madrigal choir you need a conductor." --- "...Thats why Mirabel doesnt appear to have a gift, think about it; An orchestra can be made up of more than a hundred talented musicians, each one exceptionally gifted at their own particular instrument but the musician with the greatest impact on orchestra isnt someone any instrument at all. Its the one who conducts, who keeps time, the one who keeps silent and yet is completely vital to the way all the gifted players come together to play in harmony."
The reason Abuelo took his family (and the other villagers) out of the town was because he hoped for a better future for the children. The butterfly candle represented that hope. Abuela had her hope destroyed when she saw her husband die, and the only thing that kept her going was Abuelo's hope. But she had very little of her own, so the only thing she could do was protect the candle. She didn't cultivate the hope in her children, or in her grandchildren. Gradually, Abuelo's hope wasn't enough (depression has a tendency to win in the long run). When she had so little hope for Mirabel's gift that she forced Bruno to see the future and he didn't see something clearly and obviously good, she gave up (as the song says "your fate is sealed when the prophecy is read", and a sealed fate is the antithesis of hope).
Mirabel never gave up hope. She never had a gift and so Abuela never forced her to believe the gift was the only thing of worth. Even when she decided to stop 'waiting for a miracle', she had the will (and what is will but hope manifested?) to succeed at saving her family. It wasn't until Abuela destroyed that hope as well that the final magic of the encanto was broken, and the house collapsed. But when everyone else in the family had lost their magic (the only thing of value they knew), and all their hope was gone, Mirabel still had hers. And she ignited her family's hope once again, all of them, even Abuela. And when they built the new house, all of them together, and their village as well, it was the power of Mirabel's hope that recreated the encanto of the familia Madrigal, and brought their magic back. Mirabel doesn't have a gift. She is the gift.
That, that was beautiful
Thank you for this
It's funny how the little boy presses everybody's maternal and paternal buttons.
Here is a bit of background info and my own look on the movie. Pedro's death is possibly/probably during the '1000 days war' in Colombia. Encanto and Moana/Vaiana are in the same world, so when Pedro died and Alma sent out a psychic scream(as seen in Dos Oruguitas) she could have drawn the attention of Te Fiti or another of the gods and so given her miracle. Or the scream it's self created the candle... dunno.
As for Mirabel it is possible she wasn't given a gift so she had the capacity to carry Casita's magic in her when the abuse of the magic destroyed the house. It would explain both her not having a gift and her restoring Casita.
Bruno's leaving and not leaving is easy to understand if you think about it. He has been able to see the future since he was 5 years old. 35 years of being told your visions are bad and people reacting badly to you (you make a joke at your sister's wedding and your mother starts bringing out umbrellas???) will have a huge impact on your personality, which can be seen in Bruno's OCD ('knock on wood' and trying to entertain his niece, but jumping from one entertainment to another) and 'ritual' to bring forth his gift. Then having an unclear vision that can be seen as bad. As his gift was 'harmful' to the family he stopped using it and thus his room deactivated and started to decay leaving the Casita not being able to enter. Still Casita took care of Bruno by creating room between the walls for him to live invisibly in the house.
Nice! I dig it.
i'm from Colombia and i felt so identified with a lot of thing showed on this movie
food, music, expresions, history and the landscapes. it was beautiful and i loved it
I felt the same with " Ratatouille " who take place in France
la casita esta ubicada literalmente en el Valle del Cocora
Including all the hyper-caffeinated children?
@@elbruces nop
Ellie, the voice of Mirabel is Stephanie Beatriz, who played Rosa in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Wow I’m so glad you girls reacted to this, I think a family history is great for you bc you are very expressive and take in the emotions well
As a Colombian, the country this movie was based from, Yes we are very colorful and we drink a lot of coffee lol and if you go to barichara, jerico, villa de leyva, salento or guatape you'll see casitas and towns like theirs....😀
It's funny because in France, coffee is only for adults
@@a.g.demada5263 Really? Didn't know that.
@@Arcane1604 yes, and even if I'm an adult woman, I hate coffee 🤭
@@a.g.demada5263 Lol, then don't visit el eje cafetero, kidding is a very nice place, here if you wanna see i believe were some of the places the producers of encanto used for their movie : ruclips.net/video/P6aAY2OoXqY/видео.html - ruclips.net/video/guVvZn7pQiM/видео.html - ruclips.net/video/EZ8v8kqcThI/видео.html
@@a.g.demada5263 Parents here in the States hold off giving coffee to kids as well. I think it's common not to drink it until high school age (14 - 18 years old or older).
Which is sort of pointless since many parents let children drink soda with caffeine in it...
My favorite part is how in the end the magic spread over the whole village
The community got Lazy and Grandma got too Prideful. That put the Miracle in danger.
26:21 The epic battle between Ellie and her eye!
I am from Poland, Central Europe and I've read what happened in Colombia in that times... after 2nd world war or something it was a civil war or sth. When we before suffered two occupations... I can sympatized with them. When someone attacks you... it's a great pain. I still don't know where is my family from my Grandmother side... maybe they died in Auschwitz Birkenau (Nazist Concentracion Camp). I was looking for them on my heritage site but no answers so... I guess I will never meet them. I was doing this because of my Grandmother she died never again sees her own family... :( Even a Dad, Step-mother, siblings... no one...
This movie was AWESOME! I really enjoyed the music.
Minute 26:04, I think what Bruno was trying to say with that was: "Contrary to what many say about me, I'm not a bad person, Mirabel, I just had bad luck (yes, almost like Flint Marko in Spiderman 3)
In case you ladies don't know that big cat in the film is called a Jaguar
I relate to Bruno so much man
Encanto es COLOMBIA 🇨🇴🇨🇴⚽⚽😍💖
Minute 16:49, Surely Bruno destroyed the bridge
Hi. Just wanted to pop in the comments and say I’m really enjoying your reactions. Thanks for doing what you do!
I love this movie! I suggest Coco, and Moana next.
They reacted to Coco even before Encanto
Ellie needs a big hug
When I found this video I got super excited because I was waiting for you to react to this movie
My suggestion is that you give a thought to reviewing what my generation (the “baby boomers”) view as “classics” - that is, movies from the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s (e.g., To Kill A Mockingbird (1962)). You could do a poll to see if your viewers were interested in that and, if so, follow-up polls for viewing suggestions. You would expand the number of classic movies possible for review, discover references in later movies to earlier classics and possibly increase your followers.
You guys should react to Turning Red also! 🔴🐼

Its kinda f-ed up that you push your OF accounts while reacting to a movie for children. its fine on other kind of videos, but a Disney movie, really?
So much of the music was edited out of this reaction that it completely lost it's impact for me. First time that I felt nothing. :(
The reason the music was edited out in the reaction was to avoid copyright.
@@EChacon I'm aware of the reason. However, many many other reaction channels have managed to retain a large part of the musical numbers with clever editing, filters, etc. rather than completely deleting or muting the music. That was disappointing.
@@dark.cheshire.1065 Then again some reaction channels such as BillyBinges and StormAkima do tend to mute the musical numbers, audio and the soundtrack also due to copyright so it feels double standard to say *THIS* channel edit the music out when some reaction channels also tend to mute the music and audio in some of their reactions (Encanto being one of them).
@@EChacon It wasn't my intention to single out THIS channel in particular. I haven't actually watched the reactions to Encanto from the channels mentioned. This was just the first one I've seen where the result of editing it out was, in my opinion, so detrimental.
Why don't you join them on Patreon then?
Havent seen it
