These are amazing pieces 👍 I'm just now reading about antique paper mache dolls and how they were made . I'm also reading about "hariko" that has been made in Japan around half a millennium ago with paper mache in molds . Your work is miles ahead of most of what I have seen. Keep up the good work 👍
Thank you‼️ Have you read about the stretchy paper that used to be made in China? Long, long time ago, heehee. They used molds and made real boats then sailed them in competitions.
@@atelierarenasI'm putting together a book about paper mache (it's more of an instruction book on an obscure type of paper mache) . All I found about china is that "history" says oldest known paper mache was helmets in the han dynasty . But the falcon's coffin of Persia is surely older than that 🤔🤷.
How do you get the paper mache to release from the mould?? I painted 2 coats of Murphys oil soap as a mould release into my plaster but the glue I coated the paper with adhered to the plaster anyway.

Hi. I use carnauba wax cut with turpentine. But before that I use 10 coats of mold soap. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
Try vaseline.
Vaseline migrates through paper and, at minimum, can cause stains on the surface of the sculpture. Worse, it can eat the paper over time.
