Dude, you need to bring more hip hop beats based stuff in to your modular vids. Really enjoyed this one. Btw, I'm buying into modular and it's pretty much your fault. You just always seem to have so much fun... I need that.
If the noise on milky way is a problem, try FX AID (if you can manage to get one), it's great, stereo, and only 4hp. The only IME stuff that has russian on it is the polivoks modules, for obvious reasons. Piston honda mk 3 has none of that and is actually super straightforward. It's amazing for tiny cases like the palette since both of the oscillators are fully independent - if you can cram two LPGs or something in there, you've got two full voices. Also now I want a scanned.
6:10 OMG 🤯🤯🤯🤯 could have listened to about 800 more hours of that. Kind of a half time d&b vibe. Keep up the good work man. We appreciate your sonic explorations and inspiration. Your personality is just shining through lately and you’ve really hit your stride.
You got some of the sickest sounds from that setup. Throughout most of the video I had my mouth open, in awe. Keep up the good work, thanks for the videos!
This is wonderful, the lighthearted befuddlement and enthusiastic readyness to just go with the flow if weirdness. You're like the Bob Ross of modular!
Love the content man! You inspired me to finally start my own channel sharing what I’ve been making for a while. Idk if you remember me, but last summer I ordered a couple of your “See you later oscillator” hats separately and you threw them in one delivery no extra charge. Again, love your stuff and keep it coming!
Wow, that was off the hook, my friend. That Scanned module is like Rings went to Vegas for a drink and drug-fuelled bender. Good grief that thing gets brutal :O
Sometimes some devices get noise due to multiple connections to same electricity source. Maybe connecting the Elektron to a different source would fix the noise 🤷🏽♂️
Cool video, thanks Ricky. Great to share your enjoyment. I've been intrigued since Corry Banks was on Sonic Talk podcast last year talking about modbap. It's a great pairing. I've been running boombap drum patterns into my Pulsar-23 recently and it's magical!
11:10 the spirits of Killer Mike and El-P simultaneously possessed me and i started rapping about various violent acts, amazing job man! edit: 12:50 too, damn this thing sounds amazing
Just ordered a super dope module with six notes polyphony wavetable navigator so I’m super excited to get it in the stu, on rhe chops! The last beat section was the Dopest! Dope session! Peace and Love!
That Deckard's Dream is staring at me in all your recent videos. I've got to talk myself into buying a copy one of these days, just need to get past the price tag.
Scanned sounds sick. Reminds me a bit of the BIA or Manis Iteritas in where a small knob change can dramatically affect the sound it makes. Also, killer little setup right there. I’m loving it
I use Erica's Complex VCO at the heart of my latvian PPG, stuffed in a kb37 chassis, real fun osc. This looks like a great way to get "meat and potatoes" wavescan'd sounds, if there is such a thing, very straightforward interface. Great vid!
Think you were referring to the Harvestman Piston Honda? The Stillson Hammer is a sequencer. The MK3 version of the Pison Honda is amazing. V1 and V2 were definitely iterations towards V3. Scanned seems a bit more "tame" but also a bit less noisey than the Piston Honda from the reviews I've seen. Thanks for the video!!!
Dude... ❤! Even if I'm nit interested in the subject of your videos, I'll end up watching it anyways, and I'm always glad I did! That's a noisy Milkyway lol!
yes, Milky Ways is noisy even after the last firmware upgrade which was a dealbreaker in the end. also, I think you’re meant to say Piston Honda rather than Stillson Hammer ;). Great to see you also picked up Scanned. it’s kinda like Elements but on a different side. Anyway, I can’t wait for my Scanned to arrive as well. Got a good deal out of it. Maybe I could make a video of it as well.
My "Squawk Dirty" filter is super noisy too :( I kinda work around it by feeding it with a hot signal and turning it down to lower the noise floor. Still noisy though.
I have not heard that sound being used as percussion in a Hip-Hop beat since X-mas in Hollis. :P Still think it was a very interesting video, and I would like to see more like this in the future as I am interested in learning alot about producing Trip-Hop.
Maybe this vid will bring some needed attention to the milky way issue, and no the latest updates did not fix the noise issue with Milky way or Squark DIrty. Great vid Rick
I recently bought scanned and almost sold it shortly after since with my setup all I can get is drones and percussion sounds. Maybe i will give it a second chance with the new found information from you
Two modules on my wishlist now. The ochd for sure, and now the Scanned. You got some ick sounds out of that module. This video has me wanting to see if the the outs on the DB Impact will trigger VCAs on my modular. I have a Blue Lantern module that I picked up at 2018 KnobCon that would be really fun to trigger with the DB. Have you tried anything like that?
Damn ricky. You're killing it in the quarantine.
Dude, you need to bring more hip hop beats based stuff in to your modular vids.
Really enjoyed this one.

You just always seem to have so much fun... I need that.
RIP your wallet, I'm right there with ya.
That little setup has some grit!
just had to pause the video and say fuck thats funny dope when you start the drums and that growl. SIIIIICK BEAT SO MEAAN MAN

One of my favorite vids Ricky has put up lately. Legit fun watching him open this thing up and unfold various aspects of that module.

THANK YOU for those links, I am down the rabbit hole with ModBap now and it is fire.
Those drums are fucking superb
Great vid Ricky, awesome beats!
So sick. Should have named it the face melter.
It's fun watching you just mess around and explore sounds! I have my first case on order and can't wait to get into modular when it shows up.
This is the dopest thing I've heard (in a long time)
Shiiiiiit when you brought those drums in....this is killer man love your content
yes yes yes, modular hip-hop needs to become even more of a thing. Love this video!
DAMN, when those drums come in mannnnn! so dope
Best intro for anything. Ever.
Ricky’s videos always make me want to get into modular synthesis.
Ahhh it’s good to see the Digitakt on the table again 🖤
Wooo! Killed it!
I love when music is so good that it makes me laugh! Great job!
Wow, that was off the hook, my friend. That Scanned module is like Rings went to Vegas for a drink and drug-fuelled bender. Good grief that thing gets brutal :O
Last 30 seconds - so good
yooo I been trying to get at this kinda boom bap infused thing for months! this is super dope. thanks!
Sometimes some devices get noise due to multiple connections to same electricity source. Maybe connecting the Elektron to a different source would fix the noise 🤷🏽♂️
always a pleasure to see a new video of yours pop up! thank you :)

Fun... Loving these kids of videos.

The edit in the begging was dope! Big style!
Scanned sounds sick. Reminds me a bit of the BIA or Manis Iteritas in where a small knob change can dramatically affect the sound it makes. Also, killer little setup right there. I’m loving it
That might be my new favorite tambourine sample . Haha. Great video as always.
The Waldorf wave is huge! I love all the knobs and sliders on it..
Digging the weirdness
Diggy
Your intros are so good! And holy shit that synth sounds like an alien invasion!
I use Erica's Complex VCO at the heart of my latvian PPG, stuffed in a kb37 chassis, real fun osc. This looks like a great way to get "meat and potatoes" wavescan'd sounds, if there is such a thing, very straightforward interface.
Great vid!
@12:30 was the illest mistake ever bruh shit was fuego 🔥
your intro is all of us.
In the 90s I remember buying a used Jx-3P when a Waldorf Wave was just standing there. It cost FL19.000 (about €9000).
Big love Ricky
SO rad. I'd love to drop that whole thing into the Ottobit!
That last minute of so was so gangster! Thanks!
Shit was dope RT love your channel sun!
I LOVE THIS
Dude... ❤! Even if I'm nit interested in the subject of your videos, I'll end up watching it anyways, and I'm always glad I did! That's a noisy Milkyway lol!
fun watching/listening to 6 wires turn into the mass at end of video :)
The whole video was so unbelievable good!
You're going all Voltage Controller out of nowhere haha
hip-hop producer here. just ordered a Digitakt as a big F U to my computer. Bout to go full beat music on this industrial techno machine
Eh man you rocks. Thank you very inspiring and musical stuff to keep the mind inspired. Well well.
I had some noisy modules in my Intellijel Case. Testet the same in Doepfer and the Noise was gone...
“The milky way is noisy” Have you really just noticed it ?:D
So good! Thanks so much for such excellent content.
A bastl bit ranger w/synapsis board would sound dope with this.
Great intro!
"My Milky Way is noisy" 🤣
yes, Milky Ways is noisy even after the last firmware upgrade which was a dealbreaker in the end. also, I think you’re meant to say Piston Honda rather than Stillson Hammer ;). Great to see you also picked up Scanned. it’s kinda like Elements but on a different side. Anyway, I can’t wait for my Scanned to arrive as well. Got a good deal out of it. at 7:17 that's the type of sound I figure el p has always wanted to create from scratch
Maybe this vid will bring some needed attention to the milky way issue, and no the latest updates did not fix the noise issue with Milky way or Squark DIrty. Great vid Rick
Man, I'm diggin this
Awesome modular video as ever! Think I'm gonna need me an Ochd!
First :) Death Grips want to know your location.
Hahaha! Thanks for the support!
Amazing as always!
Crazy sounds on that, yeah buddy!
You got Flying Lotus taking notes. ;)
HAAAARDDD That beat crazyy.
I recently bought scanned and almost sold it shortly after since with my setup all I can get is drones and percussion sounds. Maybe i will give it a second chance with the new found information from you
check out DivKids video on it! its really good and taught me a lot about what i know about it.
Interesting. It looks and sounds more like a feedback oscillator or physical modelling setup but it's cool either way.
i wanna hear those bassy sounds all wacky like that with some drum and bass beats. take me back ricky! :)
Sounds like my stomach after too many beers. Lol. digging it.
Screwface Ricky is my spirit animal
😂😂😭
That broken beat reminds me of wu tang. Like how it’s not quite perfect.
Danggg motivating me to work harder on These beats ⚡️
damn so good!! much needed in today
Funky, grungy, grimey- gimme more.
So weird groove! Great !
It's weird not seeing the Basimilus
Bloom was what you were trying to remember
Haha, this is great, it reminds me of messing with the circuit at grandma’s house 🤟
Rtin breathing new life into my old scanned module that i could never get to do what i wanted to do
you make some dope music man
Thank you! And thanks for watching
I really had no interest in modular, but that Scanned is pretty sweet.
Two modules on my wishlist now. The ochd for sure, and now the Scanned. You got some ick sounds out of that module. This was pretty dope
Is it a bass texture? Is it a percussive drum sound? The answer you seek is: yes.
LOL, as the owner of two Milky Ways, I'm cracking up laughing. They're hella noisy.
Modular Grime! ♡
Poor Milky Way give that baby a bottle.
Well this was vibe 🙏🏾
Excelent video! How did you do it for can connect the digitakt with the eurorack?
Super dope...very aggressive
I’m late to the party but I’m welcomed to the future.
sounds like noisy early daft punk at some points, sick!
damn my thoughts exactly, pre-homework type shit.. lit!
It's Pisten Honda, not Stilsten Hammer. Great video though :-)
Yeah Stillson Hammer is a sequencer
so it's a wubcillator. nice. (: Edit: Just finished watching it, damn that was dope! thx! (:
