  • This week on my second Study Ball, I'm going to take a look at Daniel Jones. The reason for this is that he has been highly scrutinized and criticized after signing his big deal - and, in many ways, rightfully so. He hasn't necessarily played his best football. Just a week ago, in Week 1, he really struggled - possibly more than anyone else in the NFL. However, I thought he came back and played extremely well this past week.
Now, I know they didn’t win the game, and without a kicker, that was the difference to me, but it wasn’t on Daniel Jones. He played some really, really good football. On Study Ball, I like to highlight different things - pointing out both sides of what people are saying. A lot of people are harshly criticizing Daniel Jones right now, and as the Giants sit at 0-2, there’s been a lot of talk.
At the end of the day, though, this young man is playing football for the New York Giants, and my goal is to evaluate him in whatever way I can and see where he stands as a quarterback. Last week was rough, but this week, I thought he played really well. There are some things we can learn from this - about the game itself and about quarterback play, which is always a key part of Study Ball. It's not just about criticizing or praising someone, but also about teaching the game and shedding light on who these players are on any given Sunday. So, let's dive into the tape. #danieljones #nfl #newyorkgiants

Thank you Kurt. You could be like Fitzpatrick and many others just spouting off at the mouth for a paycheck. But you sir, have integrity.

I like that you go over many plays, I find it boring when somebody makes 40 minutes of just over analyzing 4 plays.

Daniel Jones has built up a ton of confidence when playing Washington and plays his absolute best. He doesn't have that confidence against any other team and plays a lot sloppier, generally speaking. We saw that in week 1 and there's a good chance we'll see it every other week this season, other than week 9, when he plays Washington again.

Kurt don’t you think he’s spoon fed this tape every week?

Kurt I disagree with the analysis here at 19:11. Right then, that ball should be out to nabers on the flat. The DB hips shifted in after the jam and when his head is turned that flat is open. He hesitates, decides too late and then the scramble kills any chance of it working. Problem with Jones I have is his anticipation and ability to push the ball down the field. Why he can't do that or Daboll doesn't trust him is beyond me at this point in his career.

With Uniforms like that, no wonder he's struggling.
