  • My son and I were invited to attend legendary drummer Dom Famularo’s birthday party. Approximately 200 people were in attendance including David Garibaldi, Liberty Devito, President of Sabian cymbals Andy Zildjian and many more! It was a fantastic evening and it was excellent to get to see Dom and celebrate his special day.
At the very end of the party he made a very emotional and inspiring speech. I filmed the speech. Enjoy Doms Incredible words of wisdom!!
Addendum: Dom passed away shortly after his birthday party, Sept 27 2023.
This was the last speech he ever gave!
I am so sad to see him gone but happy I was there for his last performance!
Please listen with open ears the wisdom of this genius of a human being!

Absolutely! My pleasure! Dom has always had incredible words of wisdom. Sadly as it turns out this was to be his last public speech!!

I was blessed to see Dom at a drum clinic for Drum Headquarters in St. Louis in 1983 (yep - 40 years ago). Dom truly inspired that 18 year old to aspire to greater drumistic heights. I recorded the clinic on cassette (for those that remember that format - I actually still have it!). That tape was my Playlist for the next 6 months. I learned all Dom's "From Flam to Groove" exercises and I remember Dom telling me - "It's Your Move". I was blessed again last May to see Dom at the Chicago Vintage & Custom Drum Show and have a minute to tell him the impact that clinic had on me as a young drummer. Dom, thank you for Inspiring me and all drummers to Aspire! May you rest in peace.

I love it!! Thank you so much for sharing that story with me. Dom was a champion for young drummers and I am thrilled to hear how he influenced you soooo much! The fact that you were able to tell him as an adult is truly amazing. 👍❤️🥁🌎

Dom was the best. He was kind to everyone around him and he didn’t care about your status in life, rock star, rich poor famous not famous, he treated everybody the same!! I miss him intensely

Yup incredible loss! He was the best! I spoke to him just a few days before he passed. It breaks my heart that he left us so soon.

@@drumteacher43 Oh wow. At least you knew him and got to talk to him. In San Francisco About 20 years ago, I bumped into Tony Bennett by chance at a Borders Book store in the music section. We actually talked about music for around 15 minutes! Such a nice guy to me. So when he passed, I could at least be happy that I had a connection with him. Cheers
