So, word on the street was that Dark vs Big Zam was a terrible matchup for Dark, almost unwinnable, being in fact Dark's only bad matchup. Well, I decided to try it out myself and see if I could come up with any ideas to change that. After a short set with Zam, we found out Dark does indeed have options to fight Big Zam, and the matchup may actually not be bad after all...
It should be noted that Dark Gundam is banned in competitive play, since he crushes every other matchup without a second thought.

It's surprise how well Big Zam can stand againts Devil, considering that he big glass cannon that can't cover.
The main thing going is that Big Zam's super annihilates Dark if it connects. If Dark gets fully hit by it, he loses over an entire HP bar. The matchup was considered unwinnable for Dark because of that, but thankfully he can somewhat avoid most supers by staying at point-blank distance, which makes the matchup seem a lot closer to even if played correctly.
@@TrueAmmySensei yeah but Dark Gundam has that nasty unblockable laser that can take a lot of damage and is one of the main reason of why he's broken in this game.
@@LuisCortes-dk1hu Yeah, that laser is half the reason why Dark destroys every other matchup. Against Big Zam it deals half an HP bar but leaves him wide open for a super, which deals over an entire HP bar on him. It's not a good trade, I've found that it's better to stay close to avoid the super instead.
The most unfortunate part about Big Zam is that he is more Big than he is Zam.

Loool IKR, it's definitely Dark's worst matchup, but hey, this video is proof that Dark can definitely win it! It took me a few attempts, but I did figure out a strategy to avoid getting annihilated by the laser super and the missiles!
I genuinely think it's amazing that Big Zam counters Dark Gundam. A complete bottom tier being awful except against a specific god tier is something I wish other games did 🤣
After further testing, we have basically concluded that the matchup is heavily favored for Dark, but he needs to play carefully to avoid Big Zam's super. Dark reigns supreme still :P
@@TrueAmmySensei Seems to me like you just have to deprogram your brain to throw out the I win no block beams against Big Zam and you're good as long as you don't let him get in a free super.
