She would've been able to tell that story for the rest of her life, and she would've embellished it more and more every time. She admitted she knew he was in there. She thought police can't do police stuff in there. Told the criminal to stay in there. Without me looking it up could be wrong but Hindering Procecution. Aiding a fugitive or at least interference with a lawful arrest. If there is indeed a daycare there would it not possibly too far of a stretch for endangering the welfare of a child. Really I think she thought she was gonna get a hero's treatment for her talking down a violent criminal. Her bubble got busted when cops did there job. Her vanity put her and her followers in danger. I agree, he should have simply told her that there was NO SUCH LAW, but that she was more than free to do what she thought she needed about it all.... then drove away. He only made himself look like he did not KNOW there was no such law and that he thought his actions trumped such non-existent law because of public safety. The fact is... there is simply no such law. Never has been in the United States. And in fact that POLICY was a courtesy given to churches in past times in Europe but was not a blanket policy or law, it was only meant for temporary sanctuary and in fact had limits.
