The 4x5 camera is a Combo SCII RS monorail camera, we used Caltar-S II 150mm f5.6 lens with it, and HP5+ 4x5 black and white film
expired Polaroid film we used is the 405 Polaroid 4x5
The 8x10 is an Eastman View, we used a Fujinon W 250mm f6.7 lens to shoot HP5+ 8x10 film
and a Cooke Lens 13.3" f6.5 made by Taylor Taylor & Hobson when we shot paper
Photo paper was Ilford multigrade and the Positive paper was also from Ilford
all images have minimum to no editing, just some dust removed, contrast and exposure corrected
Video filmed with Canon g7x, edited with Premiere Pro CC

So glad you tried this, the images you produced were gorgeous. More to come, I hope? I'd love to see you try your hand at wetplate!
beautiful dreamy look, thanks for shareing it with us
Glad to see that you are enjoying large format. Lately, I've been watching a lot of videos with Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, who shoots with a very large 8x10.
Contrary to popular belief, film is not dead. The larger the format, the more you're forced to slow down and think about the process.. which is usually a good thing!
Ahhhh! This made me happy! I shot 4x5 and 8x10 for a living, I'm glad you got to experience it! This style of photography makes you think more and study your subject and plan your shot. Especially when it's $10 everytime you click the shutter! You should also explore Polaroid tranfers. When you see your image come up in the developer the first time, it's magical. That guy was super nice to walk you through the experience. Props to him.
yes, it does get addictive, Hence the poison logos on the focus cloth, there is silver under there, granted, but just seeing the dof of some of those portraits inside of Drew, totally addictive!!!; this video really shows off the power of this kind of out of focus affect, and it's creative uses.
A clear example: This is the way photography must be !
Classical look for a large format photo shoot : totally nailed. I loved the pictures, and there is something about medium format and up film. Great work. The model is super beautiful and she also have a killer smile and was super professional with the cold temperatures, she has this English look to her, perfect for this images.
These videos are sparking my interest in film so much
Super cool, large format is unmatched.
The output of this old technology is phenomenal.
It really makes me appreciate the history of photography and cameras as a whole.
The shallow depth of field is nothing but stunning and (as of now) only achievable with large format film cameras.
It's amazing how authentic the photographs look.
As if you took them in the 80's.
You really did a fantastic job.
These photos are exceptional. They have such a strong emotional impact. These are just test shots but still they speak so beautifully. Large format is so incredibly stunning.
Hi Irene, another great vLog of cause. You are probably the most humble photographer on RUclips IMO. You gracefully go about your craft without showing off how great you are at the technical side of photography...including off camera lighting. You are brave informative and refreshing.
Large format is so boss. Props to you for exploring and getting more into film. Its a slower process but so much more rewarding. Great job here. Now I want to shoot large format!
P.S. Look at you using off camera lighting. lol. Irene "All Light Photographer" Rudnyk hahah. j/k.
haha #alllightmatters
Absolutely stunning portraits Irene. The large format combined with B&W film create such unique, detailed images. Some of those head shots look like 100 year old images. So timeless! Makes me want to try large format.
Everyone likes compliments though not everyone deserves, you deserve them - good job
Wow! 8x10 large format is absolutely fantastic. True art
Oh my god that model looks like a Renaissance painting.
that's the most beautiful compliment ever ❤️
No you're a Renaissance painting 👀❤ (I didn't know how to take such a lovely compliment)
i have a tear on my eye seeing those photos...
Old days cameras have no comparison. What a beautiful pics. No matter how fanncy or expensive camera you use and FS you have, the superb result with old days camera is hard to match. Btw what a beautiful model, and the photographer too.
wow, what a portrait, and a subject to shoot, how still, and LOVE the HP-5+ beautiful BOKEH effects.
The Polaroids themselves are so gorgeous. Such great work. Thank you for sharing.
love the look and feel of these images, thanks Irene and Andrew
Way too cool! Thanks Irene.
Wow such emotion in the images I love it!
I alway thought your style would be great with film...this video proved me right!!!...love your images and hope to see more film with Irene!
Just got field large format camera, shooting it soon, and planning to set up a darkroom in my basement!
That photo at the very end is amazing. Other than the newton rings and the dust. If you do a wet mount and get it printed super big, that'd be incredible
Irene, I have used 4x5 cameras for over 50 years and it delights me that you are experimenting in the medium. Large format forces a photographer to focus on the subject in a way that is difficult to emulate in digital photography. It is slow and methodical and every piece of film is both expensive in time and money. I still have a Horseman monorail studio camera and an Ebony SV45U2 … all my lenses are NIKKOR in Copal shutters. The Horseman is a solid and efficient studio camera and the Ebony is a work of art, field camera that was hand built by Hiromi Sakanashi in Tokyo. Ebony closed its doors in 2016, not from lack of demand, but simply because Mr. Sakanashi retired. The Ebony, made of ebony or mahogany and titanium is a meld of tradition and technology. I love it. I no longer print images on silver paper, but rather digitize the negatives and print on a large format printer.
Congratulations Irene !!!
my life 40 years ago... the shot just before 4:00 was really nice... With liveview modes and a T/S lens on a DSLR - that could be something for you to do if you haven't already... 6:15 was great.... cool to see people experiencing these other modes of producing images...
Thanks for the intro to large format Irene! Your inclusion of the processing helped answer some questions I had. Thanks again!
Simply Amazing! You, Drewe, Andrew with Lots of Patience creating Beautiful Images With Timeless Equipment.
thank you!
Super nice that you made a video that shows the whole process and the challenges of large format photography
That focusing hood with the skulls is pretty dope.
It's good to see new generation photographers curious about the film days... Irene, I believe it will increase your thirst for photography in addition to bettering your Photoshop abilities... "You go gurl!!!"
thank you, i just fell in love with film!
Absolutely stunning. Besides the b&w, it just blurs all the other stuff out of existence. And no weird ring thingies, just buttery smooth all the way. I would like to replicate the same on my full frame camera, with build in scanner.
Irene! You are just one of the best photographers I have ever seen.
Getting inspired by your pictures ♥️
💗 💗 💗
Not only is she incredibly talented, but wonderful and kind ❤️
Oh wow. This was super interesting, I've never even seen large format negatives before. Loved watching it. Looking forward to more.
Irene, thank you. That was an amazing vlog, something different to what everyone else is doing right now. It was educational, inspiring and the images are simply beautifully captivating (if that making sence).
Model was beautiful and you were too of course and thanks to your friend for showing us how it all works 😆
Again, loved it.
soo dreamy and ethereal, thanks for the great content Irene, such a treat :)
I truly appreciate how concise and thorough this video was! Thank you
Irene, I have that same 4x5 camera and I bought the Cambo Reflex Hood that makes it much easier to use. Flips the image right side up and makes it easy to shoot with the camera low to the ground and rotate the eyepiece around to fit what you're shooting.
The incomparable beauty of film! Love it.
There's a whole new dimension to images shot on 4x5 and larger sheet film. Your portraits look ethereal.
Your photos from this video are absolutely stunning. It makes me want to get my old film camera out. Thank you so much for sharing.
thank you for watching!
That quality is just ridiculously sick! Awesome photos!
I developed the habit of cocking/firing the shutter once just before inserting the film holder. This ensures I didn't forget to close the shutter after focusing. I ruined a couple of sheets of film when I forgot to close the shutter. The "test firing" of the shutter ensures I am ready to insert the film/recock the shutter. This step may be unnecessary for others but I find it helpful.
The photos are sooo so beautiful.
Great overview of the whole process very concisely narrated. Not long at all. Images were superb. Kudos to the whole team.
That quality and depth of field is outstanding! Lovin it!
OMG the quality of images are amazing and its worth all the time !!
You are so talented, pls do more of this type of shoot if possible.
Feels like most beautiful pictures I've seen... Seeing all this is so fascinating
Some really beautiful shots. Very interesting video. Thank you Irene.
I've tarted dabbling in large format recently myself. I find that it really slows you down and forces you t pay attention to what you're doing. I'm finding it very rewarding and a welcome change from digital.
this is so amazing! Thanks Irene for exploring great stuff.
Beautiful model, and will check out the backdrop site. One thing you forgot to mention is to make sure the 'viewing' lever on the lens is closed before removing the dark slide! I sold my Saunders 4x5 dichroic enlarger and switched to digital printing, although I still can develop 4x5 film.
Wow, so beautiful. This really inspires me... makes me want to shoot large format film. Thank you for sharing this Irene.
Great vid Irene. Quite refreshing to see someone focusing on the art of photography.
Very interesting video!
It is the calm way of photography and the depth of field is unbelievable.
Nice work Irene. Another gorgeous model, I especially like her look.
Awesome video Irene! Loved this one!
I was delighted with the quality of the images. I always admire Yrene's work.
GREAT JOB..!!! Lovely images and another wonderful video..!!
Nice work Irene. Very inspirational.
Interesting to note the use of continuous lighting. Didn't realise that they put out enough light!
Great work Irene - amazing shots!
I love how you are not stick to one thing and exploring different aspect of photography.. keep up the good work
That was very nice. I especially liked the use of enlarging paper in the 10x8 camera, it worked a treat.
That shot of her at the very end of the video with her head in her hands was stunning great job
5x4 and 10x8 is so much fun, and I started my photographic career using Sinars. It's great to see you trying them out .... it bring back great memories.
That was a very good video, Irene. Informative, entertaining and downright beautiful.
Blown away by those pictures, amazing work!
Very nice! A rare opportunity to watch a young photographer who is enthusiastic about and loves every aspect of photography especially film on a large format. Shalom.
thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
Really pretty! Beautiful work! Gorgeous pictures!
Amazing good quality of the large format camera 📷 that's why old is gold... I'm really impressed by your informative tutorial about large format camera. Thanks! 👍
loved every bit of it, your first and successful attempt at Large Format Film photography
Bravo Irene for embracing film photography! i believe it will give you a new prospect on photography. Some people don't realize how sharp these photos can be.
Great video, really fascinating process! The shallow depth of field really does blur away into the smoothest backgrounds
Im off to do some large format shooting today so this was a good reminder and wow Drew is a gorgeous model
Great video with fantastic images. This is so good there is no need to rush, make it more detailed and longer, we will love it.
This is awesome. I don’t understand why anyone would dislike this video. The images are stunning. 👍 I’m inspired.
The images are amazing! Thank you for sharing, Irene.
the studio stuff is beautiful. love that you keep pushing your skills.
Irene.. this is so epic! Thank you for doing this. Really appreciate the young generation who still have the desire to know and learn things that are past. You are awesome
Woaw.. Fantastic shot, very beautiful model and the quality is so impressive. Medium and large format are the best...
great video, By the way, Irene, the Tripod is a Manfrotto 074 + a 029 3 way head; we (LF photographers) use these as they can collectively hold 9Kg's of weight, NOT generally the weight of the Mono-rail 😃, BUT you have to consider times when Both standards are on one end of the rail, and you have the head pointed at a flower, or boat off the jetty, ie with the rail pointed downward!- a lot of off centre load is put onto the legs, this 9Kg's is a SAFETY margin, for these circumstances!!
Nice to see you using film more and more. Keep it up
5 yrs ago. Hope Drew cheered up by now lol. Noice stuff! I get tired of all the lengthy chat but you went right to it. I'm gonna check out your newer stuff, Cheers!
Amazing results! Thanks for sharing.
great! i love how you explore film world. hoping to see more from you,Irene
My gosh these are incredible! Such an amazing process. Thank you for sharing! You're such an inspiration 💜💜
Great video as always. You took me back to when I first got into photography. Using a darkroom with chemicals in my college days back in 1978.
Maaaan I could do this all day!!! Took me back to my high school days in the dark room
Absolutly Loved It! I'm now taking photography classes and your videos and information you add to them makes everything much clear! Very inspired!
Beautiful pictures, nice video, great mood! Congrats!
This is a piece of art Irene!!!
Good for you, terrific way to take photographs, we use Sinar 5 x 4 on Cambo stand and also use digital sliding back. We learned photography at photo graphic school on Large and medium format only. Nice work, she is very photogenic.
Fabulous video, one of the best that I've seen in a long time.
I'm such a big fan, loved all the images you took. Well done!
large Format have a strong und unique expression. Thanks Irene outstanding work! 😍
Beautiful model and amazing photos. Thanks.
I did enjoy your trip to the world of full frame. It's something I used regularly so nothing new, but I liked the awe that you experienced with your finished images. (Beautiful aren't they). One thing you didn't explain is the satisfaction you get at the end of all the processes. For me digital just doesn't have that. A nice effort. Thank you for posting it.
I've decided to sell my Leica now... what a wonderfull world of creativity is the large format!
Incredible work!
Irene, I just love the way you share information, you are very good at explaining things! i also love how you get together with different 'photo geeks' and share your love of photography - so fun! Btw, I always watch the commercials at the beginning of your vids because you deserve the pay for sharing all of your info, I have learned so much from you :)
thank you so much!!
Irene that last image is gorgeous! Been meaning to pick up a medium format one of these days. looks so much better than digital.
