Bordelais Correctional Facility Inmates Introduced to Beekeeping

Export Saint Lucia and the Food and Agriculture Organization in the Caribbean have introduced a group of farmers with disabilities, vulnerable youth, and marginalized women to honey production. This forms part of a wider project which seeks to empower the aforementioned groups within the seamoss and honey value chains.
This component of the project included two workshops: the first was held with individuals from the Bouton Community and the Farmers with Disabilities collective operating out of Choiseul. The second, the brainchild of Export Saint Lucia, was held with a group of female inmates at the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
