DIY Pulley Puller - a simple solution for Removing Pulleys from Motor Shafts.

- The challenge was to detach a pulley from a motor shaft, and despite several attempts such as heating it with a burner, applying WD-40, and tapping it out, nothing worked. I found that store-bought pullers were not ideal and posed a risk of damaging the pulley grooves. Hence, I built a multipurpose puller, which ultimately allowed me to dismantle the entire engine. It not only removed the pulley but also eliminated the bearings, impeller, and bottom cover.
Despite its unappealing appearance, the puller performed exceptionally well.
Although one could try to remove the pulley without a puller by supporting it on corners and tapping the shaft through a spacer, I feel that this method is less civilized and could potentially jam the shaft's end. Additionally, this puller could also work to remove washing machine motor pulleys.

Excellent buy a bought one would have saved you half a days work!
The aluminum pulley can be broken with a commercial puller
Harbor freigth 15dlls
Unless you 200 miles away from the city
Pleased that it worked for you but in all fairness, I don't think it can be described as a simple solution. There's quite a lot of work involved, including access to an arc welder. Generally, people start with a puller and move onto more extreme solutions: heating and hammering later.
A purchased puller would have broken this aluminum pulley.
really simple if you have metal working skills and a grinder and welder. I'm looking for something every more simpler.
I ended up using 3 bolts threaded through a hardwood board. The two outside bolts had big washers bolted to the ends. I put the washers around the pulley and the centre bolt against the arbor. I had to use s wrench to tighten it and the pulley cam right off. No welding. No grinding. It took longer to make it than to use it.
build cost twice what a puller costs and not paying yourself to build it… worried about aluminum pulley… use wood not steel
Should work. It's basically an overbuilt and bulky bearing puller that can be purchased for just a few bucks. Time is money.
The aluminum pulley can be damaged by a regular puller
Speed up 1.5 and turn off the sound

Or could just run to harbor freight
