Sometimes you hear a song for the first time and instantly know it's an anthem for you and your life and will forever be attached to that period of time. It's rare, but it's magical. This song is that.
If the original version gives you the happy summer vibes, this remix gives you the nostalgia vibes down the memory lanes. Both are masterpieces of their own.
One of those random songs that comes across random people, at random times, and through the most peculiar and serendipitious of circumstances does it remain with them for a lifetime. I am one of those people and this is one of those songs.
This song reminds me of the summer when my Grandmother who raised me passed away. I now live in California but I used to always stay with her when I went back to visit my family in Iowa. We all grew up together in her house, but as time passed she was the only one left there. I spent one more night there after the funeral and I feel like I left part of me there when I came back to California. Now I avoid driving down that street when I visit. Now my mother has entered a nursing home and next time I visit I’ll have no place to stay. I don’t know what to do but when the time comes, I’ll figure it out when I get there.
I currently just bought my grandparents house after they passed... i relate to this more than you know. After reading your comment, i realize after listening to this song for over a month, more than any other song....that what you just said resonates with me 100%. The emptiness of them is still here...and they raised me pretty much aswell, grew up here 85% of the time. This song reminds me of my youth a ton...you're comment made me realize that.
When we locked down, I walked 800 miles through snow, sleet, rain, cold, heat and every neighborhood weather. I never knew such sweet cleansing solitude and this ong was my peaceable kingdom - I heard the echos of what was lost amidst the Sonic thrumming reverberations of how Katie and the Knocks birthed this song right when the world died outside and we ran away inside - home, inside ourselves and were separated from all we knew with no promise of ever returning. Yet I remember Katie skating like a graceful incandescent Angel of solitude through the empty streets of the dead world and how in just that defiant act - resonation - resignation - liberation. So many died, so many were lost and scared and somehow this song didn’t ignore any of that but graceful ripples across those dark waters like diamonds of the Dawn sparkling on the surface and keying us into the beat, the rhythm of multiple hearts and hands and her echoing prayerful lines more poetry than sentences, more core than message. I can still weep hearing this as candles sweeten my apartment at this very moment. Time to listen to this on tonight’s loop.
The original is great; really great. But leave it to Tycho to make it sound even more magical. The dude is a musical genius. I can't stop listening to this.
This was a song that my brother would listen to before he passed away he was 25 y/o. And every time I come and visit him in the cemetery I play it for him and I cry listening to it 🤍
This touches me, I'm just staring at the video, thinking how beautiful the stars are. Days come and go, and it's been a real long time since I watch them.
The most nostalgic song I have ever heard. so much emotion in this. Love it. Makes me nostalgic for things that aren't even past yet...if that makes sense. ♥
It's been a long, long time since I've heard a song that keeps repeating in my head for days on end, that I keep wanting to listen to again and again. It's like a portal to reconnect with deeper, more tender emotions I haven't felt in a while.
This is beautiful and so peaceful. By the way, the beirut port starts to burn again, watching it live as I'm listening to this again and again. Kinda messed up but, guess nothing is crazy in 2020 any more.
Lyrics: It's another suburban summer The street lights blink on If you're passing the house on the corner You'd think no one's home I'm still thinking about that summer Lyin' awake all alone Keep on passing the house on the corner But there's nobody home But when I feel that resonation Waving with the weight from Bodies in the basement And when you swing my way won't Wait no way, no way, want Bodies in the basement Your body on mine Body and mind My body's in the basement Your body on mine Body and mind My body's in the basement It's another suburban summer The street lights blink on If you're passing the house on the corner You'd think no one's home When I feel that 8-0-8 drum Waving with the weight from Bodies in the basement And when you swing my way won't Wait no way, no way, want Bodies in the basement Your body on mine Body and mind My body's in the basement Your body on mine Body and mind My body's in the basement I'm still thinking about Keep on thinking about if you're thinking about thinking about

Remind me of magical 80s, synthwave, Stranger Things and all that vibe.

Agreed!
Amen. Not for nothing I named one of our cats Tycho.

Strangely, the lyrics are confusing and fuzzy, yet the sentiment is so clear.

Be the best you can for those after you as your mother and grandmother have been for you.

How can this possibly be better than the original? I'm at a loss for words. Brilliant rendition.
This song after an LSD trip helped me take a step away from Anorexias tight grip on my body /mind / and spirit.

Ok Tycho! This is such a refreshing take on the original that I already loved. Really reminds me of Poliça.

Lyrics:
It's another suburban summer
The street lights blink on
If you're passing the house on the corner
You'd think no one's home
I'm still thinking about that summer
Lyin' awake all alone
Keep on passing the house on the corner
But there's nobody home
But when I feel that resonation
Waving with the weight from
Bodies in the basement
And when you swing my way won't
Wait no way, no way, want
Bodies in the basement
Your body on mine
Body and mind
My body's in the basement
Your body on mine
Body and mind
My body's in the basement
It's another suburban summer
The street lights blink on
If you're passing the house on the corner
You'd think no one's home
When I feel that 8-0-8 drum
Waving with the weight from
Bodies in the basement
And when you swing my way won't
Wait no way, no way, want
Bodies in the basement
Your body on mine
Body and mind
My body's in the basement
Your body on mine
Body and mind
My body's in the basement
I'm still thinking about
Keep on thinking about
if you're thinking about
thinking about
Give me the vibes
