This band is exactly like that one summer you had a great time. Meeting someone very special and the summer ends. You never see that person again but the longing is always there.
It's a Beautiful feeling. Because you will always cherish that time that you had with that special person. And this song let's you relive that moment in time Every time you hear it. I L❤️VE Music.❤️❤️❤️
Thats...literally what happened. I discovered this song during the summer a few years ago with friends who saved me from my depression. Afterwards I never saw them again. Especially after I moved away. This song just...idk man...it brings back memories
I am a 68 year old man and I love Foster The People. Just good music! I have one of their albums. Got to get more. This song reminds me of one of my favorite groups>>>The Bee Gees!
Crawling on the Richmond Bridge. Bummed out. This song comes on. I'm bouncing around like a happy idiot. Maybe one time I turn it up and jump out and cheer everybody up.
Yeah, it's over, it's over I'm circling these vultures Got me prayin', man, this hunger Feelin' somethin' rotten Last time I saw you, said "What's up?" And pushed right through Then I tried to catch you But we're always on the move And now it's over, we're sober Symptoms of the culture And the night ain't gettin' younger Last call's around the corner Feelin' kinda tempted And I'm pourin' out the truth Just fadin' out these talkers 'Cause now all I want is you, I'm saying Come over here and sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea Just come over here and sit next to me, ooh, ooh, ooh And I'll take you high High (ooh, ooh, ooh) Well, I ain't frontin' my intention Got your man outlined in chalk It's a midnight intervention Got no plans to make it stop Last time I saw you Said you wanna keep it light But I'm here to tell you I'm not tryna change your mind It's alright, ooh It's alright, ooh Yeah, come over here and sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea Just come over here and sit next to me, ooh, ooh, ooh And I'll take you high High High High It's alright It's alright Yeah, it's alright Yeah, it's alright So come over here and sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea, mm Just come over here and sit next to me, ooh, ooh, ooh It's alright
I took my son to see FTP live in 2014...10 years ago. They sounded every bit as good as the records. It was a standing room only venue and we hung in the back. My son is 23 now.
The part where he says "last time i saw you said you want to keep it lite" reminds me of what a friend at work said when he had to take time off to do treatment for late stage cancer of the liver about this time (give or take a month or so) five years ago. This November will be 5 years he passed away....a week after i saw him at his house. I just beat my own battle with cancer late last year. RIP Tom, still trying to keep it lite 🙏🙏🙏🍻
I feel like Foster the People never got the recognition they deserve for their other songs. Yeah, Pumped Up Kicks is an awesome song, but they are so much more than just this one song that was played into the ground. I'm glad they're back at it, though!!
You are so right Taylor, going all the way back to Pumped up Kicks I felt this was the most amazing band to come around, I just dont make any sense why back then they didnt get the airplay they deserved
Yes, soo so true. It like unnerves me everytime I think about it lol.. I mean seriously, every single song on their each of their albums sounds like a damn single! I mean we all know that very thing is almost in every case an unfortunate catalyst to an artist eventually becoming overplayed/pop soundish/"selling out"/mainstream trash/etc.,etc.. Very very few are lucky enough to break that cycle, maintain mulit-generational longevity, and still sound fresh/authentic/original (tho they remain handcuffed to that "top40-mainstream" genre). FTP appears to thrive in the niche little hole theyve carved out for themselves somewhere between electronic indie rock & the billboard, i get the sense theyre intentionally keeping their distance i really do. Theyre just too good to die off, if you want to call it that. The best things are always the hardest to find right? I dont know about you but I dont go finding burried treasure just to go shout it from the mountain tops.. pssh, im keepin' that sh*t to myself. Plus Im just way too lazy to go climbing to the top of some mountain just to recklessly shout that out when most likely no one would even hear me in the first place lol. But anyhow, yeah so how many other artists can we all think of that would be able to stand up to the album of singles test? I for one cannot currently think of another. And you've gotta be honest w/ yourself about this, look at it from anothers perspective such as the general audience or maybe a record exec... you get the idea. Ok ive said my peace.
I hate that this song slaps as hard as it does in 2024. The first actual date i had with my now wife of 5 years, this was the song that came on, and we both looked at each other with that kind of mutual acknowledgment. This song just kind of hit different in 2019, and to this day, we both love hearing this song. We immediately look to each other, and we know this is a song that's for us. If you ever see this Marissa, i love you with all my ❤️
I love the enduring magic of a piece of music, such as this… The kind that can awaken our soul and memories of great times passed or otherwise, and bring to life past emotion into the present. The power of music and great songs like this which evoke deep feeling is undeniable.
My husband and I met first in 2017 while this song was playing. Since then this is our song ❤ Thank you Foster the people for giving us this beautiful music.
I'd be honored if some Foster the People fans who appreciate 80s/90s classics would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal cover performances of PURPLE RAIN by Prince and PRAYING FOR TIME by George Michael on my YT channel in tribute to 2 of the greatest vocalist-songwriters in music history. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and RESPECT to the legends.
Man, this should've been a bigger hit. EDIT: I've gotten comments wondering why I said that this deserved to be bigger for months now. The reason I said it was because, while this song has a lot of views and got some radio play, it peaked outside of the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 (#42 specifically). While it was successful, it deserved to be bigger than it was on the charts.
This is one of those songs that you'll be vibing in your car with your girlfriend, riding off the sunset after a day off at the beach. Currently, one of my favorite songs
This song is such a vibe, like it literally puts me in a whole different world where I know everything is fine and it just makes me feel sooo happy listening to this song😌😌😌
Is is this the person I think it is I'll take you high and it's not over and over okay I had an apartment close to where do your boyfriend lives Annette's submarines tarot card readings and listening to that let me know yo-yo yeah yeah
I feel like everyone wrote off Foster the People as a 'one-hit wonder' for their success with Pumped Up Kicks, but honestly these guys are nothing to be slept on. Some of the most chill indie-pop tunes you can find today and they are such a wholesome bunch. Love these guys
[Verse 1] It's over, it's over I'm circling these vultures Got me praying and it's hunger Feeling something rotten Last time I saw you said "What's up?" And pushed right through Then I tried to catch you But we're always on the move And now it's over, we're sober Symptoms of the culture And the night ain't getting younger Last call's around the corner Feeling kinda tempted And I'm pouring out the truth 'Cause baby now this talk is 'cause now All I want is you [Chorus] Come over here sit next to me We could see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll pop a seat Just come over here, sit next to me I'll take you high [Verse 2] Well I am from my attention Got two men alive and chopped It's a midnight intervention Got no plans to make it stop Last time I saw you said "Do you wanna keep it light" But I'm here to tell you I'm not tryna to change your mind It's alright, ooh, it's alright, ooh [Chorus] Yeah come over here, sit next to me We could see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll pop the seat Just come over here, sit next to me I'll take you high [Bridge] It's alright It's alright It's alright It's alright [Chorus] So come over here and sit next to me We could see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll pop a seat Just come over here, sit next to me
Usually when musicians change their music it's received badly with people saying "I like the old [insert name of artist here] better" but in Foster the People's case, the fans like the new direction they're taking and I find that to be awesome.
so true! I find it that despite the change, the same magic is able to remain. They truly are such amazing diamonds, molding under the pressure to meet each others needs.
It will always give off summer Vibes, anyone else get that feeling like your a kid and the world is still full of hope and wonder? That's what I feel when this beat hits 😅
To be fair Id rather they didn’t get more recognition as they might be exploited by agencies who want to change there style so I honk they are perfect as they are now
It is because of Drake that nothing else gets played or gets a chance 2. He's got 27 songs on the Hot 100 right now!! See its been 7 years since 'PUK came out & this is their first hit since then.
I found this song last summer after the end of my senior year of high school. Just finishing up my freshman year of college, and discovered it again. Man, something about this song makes me so nostalgic, it feels like something from the 80’s. Makes me long to be an 80’s kid, riding around the town on roller blades, without a care. Just feeling an overwhelming sense of freedom and inner peace. This song is riding around on a Friday evening, with the wind blowing your hair as you ride past laughing families enjoying their time together. Just you with your music, without a care. Peaceful times, I long to feel that way amongst all this stifling chaos. Hopefully it all ends soon, and we’ll get our freedom, health, and sanity back in no time.
This song was playing in my head when my partner of 18 years, the only one I'd ever been with since I was 19, told me she was leaving. Finally sat her down after giving it a day and figured out what the issues were. In not so many words, in order to save our relationship, I told her "Just say the word, and I'll part the sea". It's been about 6 months or so and we're doing just fine.
Mongo Vang I was driving through town and playing this song with the volume up because I wanted everyone to hear because it seems like such a good summer song. #hearmysummervibes!
Lyrics: Yeah, it's over, it's over, I'm circling these vultures Got me praying, man, this hunger, and feeling something rotten Last time I saw you, said "What's up?" and pushed right through Then I tried to catch you but we're always on the move And now it's over, we're sober, symptoms of the culture And the night ain't getting younger, last call's around the corner Feeling kinda tempted and I'm pouring out the truth Just fading out these talkers 'cause now all I want is you Just sayin' Come over here and sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea Just come over here and sit next to me, ooh-ooh-ooh And I'll take you high High, ooh-ooh-ooh Well, I ain't frontin' my intention, got your man outlined in chalk It's a midnight intervention, got no plans to make it stop Last time I saw you, said you wanna keep it light But I'm here to tell you I'm not trying to change your mind It's alright, ooh-ooh-ooh It's alright, ooh-ooh-ooh Yeah, come over here and sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea Just come over here and sit next to me, ooh-ooh-ooh And I'll take you high High High High, ooh-ooh-ooh It's alright It's alright Yeah, it's alright Yeah, it's alright So come over here and sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea, mm Just come over here and sit next to me, ooh-ooh-ooh It's alright
And it's over, it's over I'm circling these vultures Got me praying and it's hunger Feeling something rotten Last time I saw you said "What's up?" And pushed right through Then I tried to catch you But we're always on the move And now it's over, we're sober Symptoms of the culture And the night ain't getting younger Last call's around the corner Feeling kinda tempted And I'm pouring out the truth Just fading out this talk is 'cause now all I want is you, I'm saying Come over here sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea Just come over here and sit next to me And I'll take you high, high Well I ain't frontin' my intention Got your man outlined in chalk It's a midnight intervention Got no plans to make it stop Last time I saw you said "Do you wanna keep the light?" But I'm here to tell you I'm not trying to change your mind It's alright, ooh, it's alright, ooh Yeah, come over here and sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea Just come over here and sit next to me And I'll take you high, high, high, high It's alright It's alright Yeah, it's alright Yeah, it's alright So come over here and sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea Just come over here and sit next to me, ooh It's alright
I saw them in concert back in June, and it was seriously the best experience of my life. Highly recommend seeing them live if you get the chance. Plus, I touched Mark Foster's hand, which was life-changing of course lol.
Michaela Wooten Was it Lalapalooza? I was literally 50 feet away and I could hear Mark. I knew in my heart it was Mark. Sadly, I didn't have tickets...
Song's like these are magical. With these lyrics: Last call's around the corner Feelin' kinda tempted And I'm pourin' out the truth I can see myself getting drunk and not holding back confessing my mistakes in life. Something really therapeutic about confessions...
“Throwing shade” I listen to artists who make extremely amazing music, and struggle to break 10,000 views. That’s TRULY underrated, and then someone has the audacity to say a band who has much popularity is “underrated” Sorry you can’t handle the truth. :)
Definitely one of those songs you hear over and over on the radio or when you’re at a store, but there’s that one time it hits you good and you fall in love with it.
Yep after 5 years of not really listening to the song anytime I heard it or came across it, (probably because of some preconceived notions, about usually only liking a bands first or breakout album, and finding most everything from there to generally be a digression) but For some reason, I decided to look at the comments. And the comments helped me understand what a vibe this song was.
Yep I heard this song at my job and instantly I was like, “ wait a minute, I know this song “ and from that day I’ve been searching and finally found it. This song definitely is for me.
Just heard this today, LOVE IT!!!! I was at my son's house and he had this on the stereo. I was like: who is this?! I really like this song. 😊 Now I can't stop playing it on RUclips.
I heard it for the first time yesterday and LOVED IT! I then let my 18 hear old son hear it and he likes it too. It has a really nostalgic sound. Kind of reminds me of "oh what a night" mixed with 80s pop.
Every generation that passes leaves traces of some of the excellence it has created in the form of music....this thankfully will be a song that will be enjoyed every time it is played.....for generations to come.
This song is a hidden gem. Reminds me of the times I’d hang with friends late into the night in Chinatown, before the pandemic ruined city nightlife and all my friends got married except me. Now I just feel like the lone sock in the laundry basket of life…. This song still rocks tho.
Yeah it's over, it's over I'm circling these vultures Got me praying, man this hunger Feeling something rotten Last time I saw you said: What's up? And pushed right through Then I tried to catch you But we're always on the move And now it's over, we're sober Symptoms of the culture And the night ain't getting younger Last call's around the corner Feeling kinda tempted And I'm pouring out the truth Just fading out these talkers 'cause now all I want is you I'm saying Come over here sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea Just come over here and sit next to me And I'll take you high, high Well I ain't frontin' my intention Got your man outlined in chalk It's a midnight intervention Got no plans to make it stop Last time I saw you said you wanna keep it light But I'm here to tell you I'm not trying to change your mind It's alright, ooh, it's alright, ooh Yeah, come over here sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea Just come over here and sit next to me And I'll take you high, high, high, high It's alright It's alright Yeah, it's alright Yeah, it's alright So come over here sit next to me We can see where things go naturally Just say the word and I'll part the sea, hmm Just come over here and sit next to me It's alright
So many songs on Alternative never become popular. I'm tired of no other alternative artists being played on Pop stations other than Imagine Dragons (who isn't even alternative even though I love their music)
I was in love with this song a few years ago and was on repeat everyday but this is the first time hearing it since, brings a tear to my eye at how different life is and how good it really was then. I want that back so badly
I almost never hear music like this anymore nowadays! The group "Foster The People" is CLEARLY no joke! You all know how to get to get down! Thank you so much for this masterpiece 💯LIKES!!
I can literally find no bad song from Foster the People, I like most of their songs even when I was only 16. I'm in my 20s now and they're still really good at making feel good songs.
i had my coming of age and falling in love for the first time while listening to this song constantly. foster the people always brings be back to that time of great memories
Another song that has ‘eluded’ me over the years. Mostly heard it in department stores and supermarkets, usually in ‘bits and pieces’. Finally found it. Thank you for posting.
I fell upon this song by accident and i fell in love It only had 500k views. I thought the same thing. One day a work of art like this will be recognized
I was seriously thinking this wasn't the official video. I thought it was it's just a picture flashing. But they started moving around very slowly about a minute in.
Im 62 years old, and in my opinion, its one of the greatest " Feel Good ' songs ever written. Love and best wishes to all of you !
🤍
Wishing you many many blessings
❤❤
I am a 70 year old woman. I can’t get enough of this music. So full of life. Keep it coming. It’s got everything good music should have.
Keep running against the wind.
Keep on rocking!
You look 30. :-)
Staying hip grandma that's cool as hell
YOU GO GIRL YOU HAVE GREAT TASTE IT'S A GREAT SONG WITH JUST THE RIGHT VIBE!🎤🎸🥁🎹
This band is exactly like that one summer you had a great time. Meeting someone very special and the summer ends. You never see that person again but the longing is always there.
yeah i can see that
Spot on man. Her name is Grace.
🎵 But oh, those summer nights . . . 🎶
Am I right, fellows?

One of the only songs in existence I can actually listen to on repeat
Crawling on the Richmond Bridge. Bummed out. This song comes on. I'm bouncing around like a happy idiot. Maybe one time I turn it up and jump out and cheer everybody up.
You are soooooooo hot
Yeah, it's over, it's over
I'm circling these vultures
Got me prayin', man, this hunger
Feelin' somethin' rotten
Last time I saw you, said "What's up?"
And pushed right through
Then I tried to catch you
But we're always on the move
And now it's over, we're sober
Symptoms of the culture
And the night ain't gettin' younger
Last call's around the corner
Feelin' kinda tempted
And I'm pourin' out the truth
Just fadin' out these talkers
'Cause now all I want is you, I'm saying
Come over here and sit next to me
We can see where things go naturally
Just say the word and I'll part the sea
Just come over here and sit next to me, ooh, ooh, ooh
And I'll take you high
High (ooh, ooh, ooh)
Well, I ain't frontin' my intention
Got your man outlined in chalk
It's a midnight intervention
Got no plans to make it stop
Last time I saw you
Said you wanna keep it light
But I'm here to tell you
I'm not tryna change your mind
It's alright, ooh
It's alright, ooh
Yeah, come over here and sit next to me
We can see where things go naturally
Just say the word and I'll part the sea
Just come over here and sit next to me, ooh, ooh, ooh
And I'll take you high
High
High
High
It's alright
It's alright
Yeah, it's alright
Yeah, it's alright
So come over here and sit next to me
We can see where things go naturally
Just say the word and I'll part the sea, mm
Just come over here and sit next to me, ooh, ooh, ooh
It's alright
'Feelin kinda tilted and I'm pouring out the truth'
Bruh
Wtf🥵
@Mario Time No. Tilted and pouring - like a bottle of wine.

I took my son to see FTP live in 2014...10 years ago. They sounded every bit as good as the records. It was a standing room only venue and we hung in the back. My son is 23 now.
Their music has the most amazing fresh sound. All of their music.
mspixiedust100 so ture
The verve is also very refreshing
As cool as many of the greatest 80's song from the peak of the then new MTV era.
Smooth and chill
mspixiedust100 3
These lyrics are genius. I wish that chorus would go on forever.
You + MP3 of this song + Audacity = $$$
Mhmm churos
What a beautiful song from start to finish. You just want to hit replay over and over again which is what I've done.

Facts
I feel like Foster the People never got the recognition they deserve for their other songs. Yeah, Pumped Up Kicks is an awesome song, but they are so much more than just this one song that was played into the ground. I'm glad they're back at it, though!!

Wait, why do you hate that? Lol I'd love that it still slaps the same 5 years later
If this wasn't written for a film or TV show, it will be in a lot of them over the years
My husband and I met first in 2017 while this song was playing. Since then this is our song ❤ Thank you Foster the people for giving us this beautiful music.
Hell yeah foster the people are awesome
They took that riff from Donny Iris "Ah Leah". But they are both good songs.
I love this song I dedicated this song to my husband he passed away a month ago I miss him 😢
This has to be one of the most underrated songs out there
86 million for a 2 year old song is pretty dang good
This song is going to become a classic I can see it already
U a fortune teller?
When I have kids I’m gonna show em this and they’re gonna be like me when my dad shows me his old songs even tho they’re usually pretty good
It already is a classic
I'd be honored if some Foster the People fans who appreciate 80s/90s classics would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal cover performances of PURPLE RAIN by Prince and PRAYING FOR TIME by George Michael on my YT channel in tribute to 2 of the greatest vocalist-songwriters in music history. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and RESPECT to the legends.
20 years later, I will hear this song and think about all the things I am going thru right now.
the fact this song is criminally underrated is mind blowing
i love this song so much oh my god like it’s perfection ugh
109 mil :P
Disagree
In a way, sure, but I just remember hearing this song plastered all over the radio circa 2017-early 2018.
@@IowanMatthew683 I agree. We in these comments consider it a classic but at the same time it was a very successful and often played song
Great song! As a 40 year old rock/jazz man, it's really refreshing to hear something like this.
I wanna make stuff like this. Nice work Fosterers
Has 109 million views though

I feel like everyone wrote off Foster the People as a 'one-hit wonder' for their success with Pumped Up Kicks, but honestly these guys are nothing to be slept on. Some of the most chill indie-pop tunes you can find today and they are such a wholesome bunch. Love these guys

James Lee, YES!! I can totally hear it lol! I love it, this song is really catchy.
It kinda reminds me of a late 80's - early 90's smooth R&B song. I love it, it's kinda addicting
[Verse 1]
It's over, it's over
I'm circling these vultures
Got me praying and it's hunger
Feeling something rotten
Last time I saw you said "What's up?"
And pushed right through
Then I tried to catch you
But we're always on the move
And now it's over, we're sober
Symptoms of the culture
And the night ain't getting younger
Last call's around the corner
Feeling kinda tempted
And I'm pouring out the truth
'Cause baby now this talk is 'cause now
All I want is you
[Chorus]
Come over here sit next to me
We could see where things go naturally
Just say the word and I'll pop a seat
Just come over here, sit next to me
I'll take you high
[Verse 2]
Well I am from my attention
Got two men alive and chopped
It's a midnight intervention
Got no plans to make it stop
Last time I saw you said
"Do you wanna keep it light"
But I'm here to tell you
I'm not tryna to change your mind
It's alright, ooh, it's alright, ooh
[Chorus]
Yeah come over here, sit next to me
We could see where things go naturally
Just say the word and I'll pop the seat
Just come over here, sit next to me
I'll take you high
[Bridge]
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
[Chorus]
So come over here and sit next to me
We could see where things go naturally
Just say the word and I'll pop a seat
Just come over here, sit next to me

Just heard for the first time today, too. I REALLY like it, has great sound to it
Usually when musicians change their music it's received badly with people saying "I like the old [insert name of artist here] better" but in Foster the People's case, the fans like the new direction they're taking and I find that to be awesome.
so true! I find it that despite the change, the same magic is able to remain. They truly are such amazing diamonds, molding under the pressure to meet each others needs.
HockeyCrab that's because they're innovating.

Born in the 60's and listen to almost all classic rock still.......what a great tune. Has me looking for more of them. that's rare these days.
Honestly Foster the People deserves way more recognition than just "Pumped Up Kicks". The group has way more to offer and they're awesome
MassiveGat This will be a top 40 hit I assume when the Drake songs fall.
To be fair Id rather they didn’t get more recognition as they might be exploited by agencies who want to change there style so I honk they are perfect as they are now
🗣 this is the truth 🗣
Just a fresh sound.. Gonna make a point to see them live

Omg same I found this last summer
Too!
For me that song is "1979" by the smashing pumpkins, but I totally get you. :)
How does it feel to be an 80's kid? I was born in the 2000's and that nostalgic feeling of the 80's seems like an impossible feat...
This will be a good summer song

“Throwing shade” I listen to artists who make extremely amazing music, and struggle to break 10,000 views. That’s TRULY underrated, and then someone has the audacity to say a band who has much popularity is “underrated”
Sorry you can’t handle the truth. :)

One of my favorite songs.
You're absolutely right. Well said!
This song is a hidden gem. Reminds me of the times I’d hang with friends late into the night in Chinatown, before the pandemic ruined city nightlife and all my friends got married except me.

So many songs on Alternative never become popular. I'm tired of no other alternative artists being played on Pop stations other than Imagine Dragons (who isn't even alternative even though I love their music)
