Mine doesn't look anything like that. There are no stems on my wandering jew, just stalks and really long lanky leaves. What do I have? It was gifted to me. The tops of the leaves are pale green and the underside is bright vibrant purple. Edit: I found out what species I have. It's a Tradescantia Spathacea not Zebrina

It’s because each stem has too many leaves. When propagating, each stem should only have 1-2 leaves, and the rest should be removed from the bottom up, otherwise the stem would focus most of its energy on maintaining those leaves instead of growing roots. This principle applies to propagating most plant cuttings. It nothing has to do with been October. I just propagated a few stems on this exact plant only 4 days ago and it already has full roots and it’s ready to be potted.
I've always started my cuttings in soil. This is interesting
Very nicely done good video

Why it took so long for your wondering Jew to grow roots that much? Mine start growing roots as long as that for only 2 days
because it was October then :) Usually it takes a few days
