Recently got a loop recorder after developing Long QT Syndrome and a run of Torsades de Pointes. Fortunately it was self limiting but my QT interval has been consistently in the 500's, and I've had brief NSVT episodes. I'm on medications that help, but I'm still symptomatic almost daily. We'll see what the loop catches and then decide if I need an ICD.
It's all really scary. Sending positive and healing vibes to all who read this ❤️

Ty so much for sharing. I've told docs for yrs about my heart doing 'somersaults'...they'd sometimes do a short ekg and would find nothing...then dismiss me. Then 3 months ago, I had a stroke. Im still recovering, and FINALLY they're going to put a loop recorder in. I've been on a waiting list...I'm currently in a very rural area. I'm excited to get it but I'm also very anxious about the procedure...the med staff here are very rude and predominantly incompetent. I have no family here, so, just having you share, makes me feel a little less alone. Thank you so, so much ❤

Mine hurt like hell, it was not a pinch, and the pressure was like shoving a bat inside of me.
Plus the drape over my face caused me to hyperventilate. All I can say is don't do this in the Dr. Office. Plus get pain meds or anxiety medicine if you think you need them. I had to advocate for myself. No one can tell you how you feel. So, the bull shit 5min is not true in my case!!!!!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m in the process of scheduling to have a Medtronic loop recorder implanted due to family history of significant cardiac events, personal symptoms, and a KCNJ2 genetic mutation that can potentially cause long QT. I’ve been using my Apple Watch + Qaly app to record EKG’s when I experience symptoms. Looking forward to having the loop recorder to help in identifying any issues and cardiac management.

@@ijustrealllylikecats Thank you so much! Insurance denied the implant unfortunately, but it may be a blessing in disguise. I learned recently that a recent episode I had recently that was thought to be long QT may have been a different type of arrythmia/ectopy. I’ve managed to capture SVT’s a couple of times but my cardiologist said he’s not too concerned since they haven’t been sustained. I’m making rounds with my doctors to determine whether I want to appeal the insurance denial and I’m actually looking into hemachromotosis now with my doctors. This bod is quite a puzzle. 😅
I hope you’re managing ok with your long QT! I know that one can be scary and difficult to manage especially with all the medications to avoid and constantly needing to communicate it to doctors.

Just to comment from experience. I got my first loop almost 4 years ago. The previous Medtronics were about 3 years. My battery lasted 3.5 years. I wanted it replaced as my Dad had AFib and that is what they are watching for. So, new one last Oct. I have to say I am surprised to hear of the person with a painful time with it. The first one I got was easy, peasy. Really was all of 15 minutes. Removing the old one was a bit different as your body puts scar tissue around that device and it took some pushing and pulling to break it free. I joked with the Dr. " I have delivered my babies easier than this. "Still some soreness afterwards and longer healing of incision but really nothing to be afraid of and I am a VERY ANXIOUS person my whole life. Believe me (and I belong to a group and know many who have had it done)99% of the time it really is a piece of cake. It is worth the peace of mind!!😊

My experince was really bad. Just like you had no pain at all having it done. The problem came the very next day when I started feeling very very week , I could not stand without headache , without feeling sick, I had to take days off from work , I end up at the emergency room . I really think my body rejected this device and thinking to go back to remove it. It was just awfull after having it installed in me.

@@raymondpaduanijr7410 They destroyed my life literally. I only went in there to have this loop recoder installed. Because I was bleeding quite a bit they were whipping me with water from the sink tap giving me a very bad infection. Went after two days to emergency rooms asking for antibiotics to kill that infection. They did but taking the antibiotics made this worse. The antibiotics kills bad infections but also kills good bacteria in the gut. By killing good bacteria in the gut I end up having C.Difficile. A very bad infection of the gut that is very hard to cure . Cutting the story short I am in and out emergency rooms for the last 2 months and no one seems to know what to do. Worse ever decision to have loop recoder done.

Thank you! I watched 2 Gen. Z female videos and they went on about how much it hurt before and especially the first 48 hours and I get this experience any pain besides that little bee sting when they numb you-that & 1 nurse who told me how painful it is to take out-I tried to leave the hospital they wouldn’t let me, no joke I kept reaching for my pants to put them on and leave-48 hrs had my 1st shower, I got the bandage, a little damp, dried it off and put on it the same kind of Band-Aid that they send with you, but not one that will peel off anything, I wish I would’ve seen your video first Friday lol
