The Mountain was something like a Zombie, or a Frankenstein created by that ex master, he could serve Cersei foi a while, but he still was concious, and one thing was more important than killing or being loyal, kill his own brother who he hated most.
Why did a few scenes looking up at The Mountain make me think of Thanos? Weird. Bloody best part of this whole season though, and a damn good closure for these two.

Hug0Pro Well yeah, except he's clinically dead. Why do you think the skin and muscle around his face is all bloated and decayed? His vocal chords at this point are dust, so it makes sense the most he could do is just grunt.
This feud did deserve a fight like this. It fits way better with a personal feud to fight face to face. I think that the ideal end for the Night King would have been a decisive battle or perhaps an intelligent way to defeat him. Maybe in similar fashion to the Witch King in LOTR. Otherwise I think that he could meet his end in a way similar to Sauron.
Just saw this now, but in the books, well before this point, the queensguard was a mockery of what it used to be, with Cersei filling the seven available slots with younger, good looking men she could take advantage of when she wanted to- not filling the seven spaces with men who can actually fight. Sandor/the hound was one of the best swordsmen in the realms, stands to reason he could dispatch a couple of green boys easily.
Also even if we dont take into consideration the weakness of the queens guard the hound is still a fucking monster, skilled with a sword with unnatural size and strength to back it up
