Almost 50 years ago I worked at a glass factory that had its own cardboard manufacturing plant. One of my jobs was to palletize the stacked and folded boxes. Thank you for reminding me how this knot worked. We used a ring knife to make the cut.
Bravo I just retired after 50 years in the meat business and if I ever have to tie another knot like that lol The funny thing was the old butcher that showed me how to do it taught me to always have my boning knife in my hand while I was tying it so you didn't have to pick the knife up and there's one day I was tying a rib roast and I put the knife down and he caught me he came over picked up the knife and threw it in the garbage can he said if you're not gonna use it why keep it I was speechless but I learned how to hold the knife in the one hand and tie the knot with the other. The last butcher shop I worked in that Christmas I think I might have tied close to 150 whole filet mignons and at least 60 or 70 whole beef ribs I couldn't move my hands after that. I now have neuropathy in my hands and I can't tie knot or even pick up a knife good. I'm also 70 years old lol keep up the good work teaching people
I finally got it! I’ve been following you for years Scott, and been trying to get the knot. Every time I’d do it, it wouldn’t cinch down like that. I just kept doing it anyway since I was able to make it work. But it was that bit at 4:39 that did it: You’ve got to go through the loop from left to right. I’d been going right to left.
Hi Scott, another nice program about the knot I’ve just bought a butchers block and I would love you to show us how to look after the butchers block. I’m not sure myself be another program for you to show us how to look after our blocks. I’ll be very grateful because it cost a lot of money. many thanks. Keep up the good work
For those who may need a better visual, he is tying a knot called a figure 8, around the working end of the string, then tying a safety at the end. Google a picture of a figure 8 slip knot for further reference.
Nice work Scott. Now their are thousands of people all over the world tying up towels!
People I love this Butcher! I always find myself hungry after a post from Scott and I always go out and get something interesting to roast and enjoy!
thanks Scott, the close up at the end helped a lot.
Every time I need to tie a butcher's knot I have to learn it all over again! Thanks for a reference video I'll definitely use in the future!

The teatowls are quite easy to come across here in Canada, too.
A Teatowel " The most common owl in Britain " 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I almost choked on my coffee
Yes but how does it taste?
Fantastic❤..thx
So what would a sailor or a boy scout call this knot?
It's a slip knot with a hitch to secure it.
Thank you

The only knot I have now is in my brain ..
If you cook that would a Bordelaise sauce you will be a Michelin star chef😂😂
Nice, but more complicated than the butcher's knot I was taught.
Like that
I did not get it . Confusing. Not explained in proper detail.
Couldn't decide on a title? :D
