The thing I've noticed the most damage driving in the winter is all the impact nicks on the paint on the front from all the salt and debris dumped on the road from the salt trucks. My last 3 BMWs, even my current one has it. I can't get away from it. I should have done the Xpel wrap. Next time.
That’s a good point. My solution is to stay as far away from cars as possible and never tailgate. Sometimes it’s hard to resist but I try not to do it

I have always sold my M cars around 2 years or 3 years to i bought my F13 M6 :) 7 year's ownership now and I'm still in love with it :)

I know this is a super old video, but the initial look at that the front wheel well reveals MASSIVE rust on the underside of the shock tower, which you don't bother to mention (top edge of the frame at 2:08)

Nice working with the kids, I have granddaughter about same age only problem is my tools keep disappearing, lol but it is indeed a blessing..btw I think your exhaust clamp is made from poor grade steel, I’m in the auto parts business so I see these things all the time especially if it’s aftermarket stuff,..nice look without the roof racks..

I remember my niece and nephew it seems like yesterday they were cute little kids they grow up rocket fast, now they're grumpy teenagers that haven't got the time of day for any adult family members, be warned by the time you start on your next car your kid may be dating a mechanic.
Tommy you rotor hubs are furry and nasty. The alloy hubs are so nice as they don't rust or need painting. I just did mine after the winter, clean them up and put a film of ACF50 on them and they will match the bling of the 666M nicely !

Where are you located? Do they salt/brine the roads in winter? Do you wash the underside of your car regularly during the winter? That all affects the rust damage, especially 5+ years. Please post an update then!
NJ. Not much salt here but when I drive to Vermont they use salt.
I never wash the under side. I let the rain wash it when I drive through it. Won’t have the car for 20 years to find out :)

Your 80 looks so good, tommy. But why you dont wash and care the underground (fenders, suspensions, brakes, etc.) of the car after a long and hard winter?

For those who don’t want to be swapping wheels, has someone run a all season high performance tire on the M3 year round? Like the Michelin pilot sport A/S 3.
You could but you won’t get much traction in the winter and summer grip will be limited. It’s a bad compromise
I’m running the pilot sport A/S 3’s on mine now. I live in Northern CA (Santa Rosa) so we don’t get any snow. We had more rain than imaginable this winter though and it handles like a dream on a wet road. In the summer however with traction control off it’ll slide like crazy.

How’s it feel to be back on the 20s? I took mine off just after driving home from the dealership and put on the 513M wheels with Bridgestone LM001 tires. I am scared to put the 20s back on. :). The ride is already stiff with the 18s. I wonder how much worse it will be now that I’m somewhat used to the stiff ride.
I honestly do not mind of the ride with 20 inch wheels and I think they look a lot better. But every time I drive to Manhattan I pray that I don’t hit a big pothole
How often do you have to torque your spacers? I’ve never put them on a car but love the look and wide stance you’ve got.
You don’t torque them. Just torque the wheels as always

Never mind, I didn’t realize there are sets that come with extended lug nuts and the spacer is essentially a plate in between. I RUclipsd others that bolted to the hub and then the wheel bolted to it. Thanks

Yes. 255/45/18 square.

pl no. Oem size (10 rear and 9 front). But 255 tire fits well in the rear.
