Happy New Year Ryan! And thanks for the fast response to my request for a bearing race video! Looking forward to many more interesting videos in 2022. Thanks again!
I have been here 18 months and absolutely love it here. And yes they will break out fuel and other stuff especially if they are trying to get you to move the load! I would use your settlement card for everything and get rid of the fuel card. But you must call LS to get them to set up your settlement card for fuel before you can use it for fuel. There are many things over here that are beneficial that most other places don’t do. Good luck.
thank you so much for Sharing your experiences. I have a 2000 Freightliner class FLD is True some Insurance companies and companies not take older trucks, also is it possible to convert the standard braking system to disc brakes if so what’s a good brand
I had my brakes change and got parts marked up to 29.5%. Is that a fair mark up? Shop left part list and recipes in my truck. I paid an extra $1161.99. Just to have the pleasure of giving them business. I'm guessing it's my fault. Any advice.
Part of being an O/O is knowing how to do those sort of jobs yourself. The way I look at it is if the Truck is going to be in the shop and off the road. Then Rather than stand around and wait I will do it myself and the money saved pays for the time off. Off course I do understand that not everybody can do their own repairs. Thats when you give Ryan a call, and get it done correctly and not get ripped off.
I appreicate the kind words. Yes, I do know repair your own truck isn't for every owner operator. But knowing the basics of your truck is very benefitial for owner operators that you can avoid a lot rip-offs from the mechanics that don't know what they are doing. Finding a reliable mechanic that you can talk to is key in this situation.
29.5% mark up is a lot! I can understand a small percentage of mark up from the shop to cover their part research time, credit card fee and handling., etc... We charge a flat 5% to cover those charges. We don't make money off of parts, we make money off of service that we provide. I am sorry to hear your story. I just don't agree with some shops that charge heavy mark ups on parts.
when a dealership buys parts they mark them up 35 percent(min), and you dont times you divide so you get the almost extra 2 percent that way. if you dont mark parts up you will not stay in business, however not knowing what you had changed paying a extra 1162 dollars sounds like you had some major work done other than just brakes, just doing shoes and drums should be about 200 per wheel for parts,

Hello.. really like your info.. need a rebuild on Cummins Isx15… located in Tucson Az.. any references ??

I think ,likewise, you could have welded a round piece of 1/4 " plate to the race and pushed it out with your shop press.

@@anthony1636 thanks for the advice.
Where do you buy bearings, seals, Conmet kits, etc.?
Your local truck dealer Freightliner, Peterbilt etc.
Only other person I know that welds without gloves is Chuck Norris
Basically you gave your self a lip to hammer on
Torch that bad boy
That's what I thought heat the outside of the hub and it swell out and let the race fall out
