Close Call 01

- This "close call" was really a non-issue in the genre of close calls. Thanks to mental preparation and riding tools from fellow RUclipsrs like DanDanTheFireman ( / stubbs928 ) teaching riders to recognize road hazards and how avoid them, I expected this motorist to pull out in front of me before they committed to their turn. It's important to note that this video is not meant to put other motorists down or make anyone feel bad, I'm sure the other motorist didn't see me from the the sun and did not do this intentionally. We all make mistakes and sometimes they are unavoidable. Rather, this is intended to be a tool for recognizing road hazards and making a split-second decision to avoid them.
This video was recorded at around 4PM (the beginning of the evening rush hour), and I was around 5-10 minutes into my ride. At the beginning, you can see the sun blinding me in my mirrors, making it hard to see other motorists behind me. Realizing this, I deduced that oncoming motorists may also have a hard time seeing me with the sun in their eyes. When I got to the construction signs and sawhorses, I became aware that oncoming traffic waiting to turn left at the intersection may have an even harder time seeing me. Because of this, I maintained my speed and prepared to use the brakes just in case. Thank goodness, because the motorist committed to making a left hand turn into my path of travel.

Can be a little tricky with all the new construction through there, always covering my brake when approaching that intersection.
