Very excited for our 2024-2025 season. Appreciate the detailed explanation about why it does not make financial sense to extend Alperen Şengün or Jalen Green; the biggest one being that we want to make sure we have enough cap space / move able contracts and available cash to counter any offers from other teams once Alperen Şengün hits free agency. My feeling is that a lot of teams will express serious interest, and his value will continue to increase through this season in his year 4. I am very good with resigning Aaron Holiday. We have a great team and a deep bench. All of our needs have been addressed. We have two new shooters: one proven in AJ Griffin, if he can bounce back from whatever happened last year AND Reed Sheppard, whether his development be slow or fast.
It will be wonderful to get a healthy Tari Eason back and to see what leaps Cam Whitmore and Amen Thompson take in his 2nd year. So much to look forward to!
Rafael and Ime are smart and intelligent. They’re building team chemistry and bond. They don’t wanna distort the system they are building by diving into trade and unnecessary free agency
FVV has 130M and brook has 86M contract. We still have Boban, tate, landale. Bring random dude from street and place to Stone’s position, he would manage the same. He is the One that needs to show improvement not players!

Good pod Jackson. the Rockets have done even better than what I was hoping for at the begining of the off season. this young team needed another year to improve before making decisions about how to alter it. we have so many players primed for a breakout that it would be premature to change before we know fully what we have. we know what the pieces look like, but this will be our first look at the full team. I'm expecting competition for playing time to be a battle. because we were inexperenced and injuried most of the year I don't think many outside of Houston understand how good we are. there is a storm on the horizan. it's name is the Rockets and it looks poise to do much damage

If HR doesn't take any step to show the trust in them, then don`t expect much loyalty next year -esp for Alpy considering what he gets against what he gives to HR. This is business at the end but don`t treat them as commodities that badly. This is a big gamble, don`t lose or demotivate Alpy.

For Sengun I believe he deserves to get the max but I’m sure he understands why the rockets are waiting until next summer to give him a extension. If he continues to ball out and play at the level he was and even beyond that and be like a top 40 player he going to get a massive pay day once he hit restricted free agency
As for Jalen Green his situation is different he been so bad and inconsistent the rockets have no reason to extend him. For him it’s crucial for him to be consistent to show the rockets he deserves to be a key piece for us going forward and why he deserves to be a max level player.
This year is important for Jalen and Sengun especially Jalen to show that they are key pieces to our core moving forward if they don’t they will be traded for a star level player
So hopefully they ball out if they do the trade rumors regarding them will die down

Detroit and Toronto are in rebuilds they have to pay Scottie or Cade or else they are going to loose them for nothing
When it comes to money we can basically do what the Sixers did to Maxey this year and that’s hold off Sengun and Jalen extension so that we can keep the cap open for a max level player.
If we sign Jalen and Sengun now we loose that flexibility in getting or trading for guys like Booker.
So it’s smart for the rockets to wait until next summer to extend Sengun or Jalen

Good post. I just find it interesting how the Rockets fan base constantly biiished & moaned about Harden’s lack of defense, even though Harden put the team on his back and carried them to the playoffs, arguably when the conference was tougher.
When it comes to Sengun being a negative on defense…the fan base has no concern about it. How common is it for teams to make a run at the championship with a center who’s a negative on defense…???
I think the Rockets are in a very tough situation…because they are on the verge of giving two players big money contracts that are not foundational pieces to a championship contender.
Rockets should also stop overpaying. Why extending Landale (3rd center) for 8 million, also neither Dillon is 22 million player nor FVV is a 45 million player.
Landale's contract is like literally just tradable salary, none of the contract is guaranteed. FVV's contract is expiring. We have a fuck ton of money to work with

Jalen Green was the first player to ever be drafted from the g league. I do think he will be nice though.
What ever happens, we will see what will happen on next year and hope he wants hims trade due to this respect situlation. Everyone knows the truth and Rockets are taking that gamble and they are holding Alpi's end season contract with one way too but they are not considering if that RESPECT problems continue, what if Sengun wants to leave? Risk vs return . Who are the potential FA targets for 2025-2026 season.? Hope that the players can understand the situation! Hope is not enough. What is the front office doing? Only insider writers? Are they explaining this strategy to the players.? There is risk that the players think that they are undervalued. You loose their heartt.Once they start to look other possibilitis, they may find a better fit for them. Tough situation for the Rockets. They are on the verge of giving big contracts to two guys who aren’t star players and or foundational pieces for a championship contender.
How many teams have made a run for the championship with a center who’s a negative on defense. At least James Harden was able to put the team on his back and carry them to the playoffs. Maybe Sengun and JG can…we shall see, but I won’t hold my breath.

Cade Cunningham and Scottie Barnes are already a corner stone for the franchise and earned the paycheck. Sengun and Jalen are great players but they did not achieve that status yet, I would say even Paolo is ahead of both considering solidifying their name as true upcoming star in the league aside from financial status of team issue
Jalen lit it up when Sengun went down with the season ending injury. The Rockets looked like a whole new team. To say that Jalen doesn't deserve an extension is completely ignorant he played all 82 games!! We dont know how Sengun is going to bounce back from that awkward injury that he had. If I'm going to keep one. I'm going with Jalen Green to me he has the highest ceiling.
