Subbed! Excellent work, there's real joy in watching old footage like this, especially in color because it makes it look less of a distant point in time. Also it's fun when you speak Dutch and you understand all those signs :)
@@007bogossemre007 Happy to hear that and thank you for your support. 🙂
Saw Cohen's and thought about it being a Jewish surname in pre-WWII footage. Fell down a rabbit hole and learned about the history of Nathan Cohen, confectioner who's address was the same as the cart at 03:44 and then saw he died in Auschwitz. Just makes this archive more haunting and poignant.
thanks for publishing in ai colour...my father and his parents lived in Amsterdam in 1932/33 so tis video from 1931 gave me a glimpse into the city back then. i love Amsterdam and hope to revisit for the 4th time after the pandemic gets under control
Glad to hear that. Thank you for your comment.
My grandmother told me how when she was a kid she and her school friends would "explore Amsterdam" on their bikes. She was around 12 or 13 then and just went around Amsterdam without knowing were she was without adult supervision. How the times have changed
My 13 year old cousin does this all the time in Amsterdam. Lots of things have changed here but luckily that hasn’t. Although he does do it on an electric bike 😂
4:53 lady coming from a shop with a mobile phone......
Just like in the movie "The Circus" with Charlie Chaplin.
I saw that too!!
nicely done thank you .... this is a valuable historical document .
25jaar later geboren, maar herken dit in mijn jeugd.

1:40 namen op de stoeprand. Nooit eerder gezien. Markering voor een marktkraam of parkeerplek o.i.d.?
the good old days
It will get much better after the 7year Tribulation when our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST comes back to rule the whole earth from Jerusalem! Listen to Dr. Ron Rhodes on end times chronology or read the NT!
Natuurlijk , toen was d'r geen honger en mensen hadden geen luizen. Nee ze hadden nog geen luis om dood te slaan. De rijkdom zat en zit onder de azkenazie zionisten.
Very interesting those rare very historical memories are fantastic
The first car looks like a 1927 Hudson to me. The 2nd car a 1928/1929 Ford model A Tudor.
*ASPERGER'S ALERT*
its all around the albert cuijp market ... ferdinand bolstraat and the other end the ceintuurbaan
so many things i see still were around in the 60ies and 70ies... now i dont know...
Everything very recognizable still
That horse carriage with beer still travels Today every other day 😅
Why 99% of people wore hats in the past? Including children
Nice
Thank You.. Glad to hear that.
mijn stad mijn hart❤
Nicely done, wrong music. Its a cliche.
Waarom in het Engels??
www = world wide web
😍
It's nice to see the real indigenous Dutch people.
A lot of these shopkeepers were Jewish, a lot of them 'secular', so not orthodox religious. In the 30s a lot of Jewish people fled to Holland/Amsterdam from the nazi's in Germany, but were nevertheless deported and murdered in 40-45. Films like these are in fact heartbreaking.
Civilization
minute 1:00 bicyclist versus motorcyclist, crash ...avoided 😂😂😂
Zo zie je eigenlijk hoe in 100 jaar tijd de cultuur compleet is verloederd.
Who wouldve thought that WW2 will lead to a qua-lingual chinaman in time. KEKW
