  • I had so many requests for coconut custard pie, how could I leave it off the list? So today we have coconut custard pie with my own twist! Triple coconut custard pie with flake coconut, coconut milk and Torani coconut syrup! This is super boosted coconut flavor that is sure to please any coconut lover at your holiday table or celebration!
    This recipe is old school custard pie! Baked in the oven until set then chilled before serving. It is creamy, thick and delicious. I also have a quick and easy coconut cream pie recipe on my channel that you can find here: bit.ly/2f6Nw6v
    The difference between the two is that the coconut cream pie has the filling usually made on top of the stove, in my case I used instant pudding and folded in whipped cream and top with more whipped cream and chill till set. The coconut custard pie filling is mixed up using raw eggs and poured into a blind baked pastry shell and baked until set. They both need to be refrigerated all the time until served. This is one of our family favorites.
    I started with a blind baked pastry shell using my cream cheese pie crust that you can find here: bit.ly/1y9m10O
    I like to bake my shell in a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes then remove it and turn the oven down to 325 to bake the pie.
    I mixed up all the ingredients to make this super simple custard. Eggs, sugar, flour, milk, coconut milk, Torani coconut syrup and vanilla. Easy! Pop in the oven for an hour to an hour and 15 minutes and you're good to go.
    You will want to allow this pie to come to room temperature before refrigerating so that the filling will not weep upon cooling. When you get ready to serve it, get some sweetened whipped cream and go to town! This pie is delicious and very easy to make! I think that some people may think that this is more difficult that this. It isn't! You are going to love this pie!
    I hope you give this triple coconut custard pie a try and I hope you love it!
    Happy Piesgiving!

    I was eating a homemade frozen coconut bar when this video popped up in my feed! Definitely making this, as the only coconut pie recipe I've ever made was given to me by an Amish gal and although it's super yummy, I need to shake it up a bit. thank you!

    Looks delicious!!!! But I HAVE to ask. When you say coconut milk are you using canned coconut milk, or the coconut milk you can buy that's sold by the almond milk in the dairy aisle?!
    THANKS!

    • @elizabethb2503

      capt.sandy Vagoo I wondered the same!

    • @capt.sandyvagoo6619
      @capt.sandyvagoo6619 8 лет назад

      At first I'd guess canned, but you can never be too sure. I'd rather ask and make sure since I wouldn't want to just assume and then ruin the final product. But I always wonder why people never make sure it's known when now a days there's so many "different" versions of things called by the same name!

    • @elizabethb2503
      @elizabethb2503 8 лет назад +1

      capt.sandy Vagoo Oh, she said "can" at the end during tasting!

    • @NoreensKitchenOfficial
      @NoreensKitchenOfficial  8 лет назад +1

      I used almost a whole can of Trader Joe's coconut cream. You can use regular canned coconut milk. I find the canned coconut milk has a much more pronounced coconut flavor than the refrigerated versions which are only a substitute for regular milk.

    • @capt.sandyvagoo6619
      @capt.sandyvagoo6619 8 лет назад +1

      Great, thanks! I know there's a difference, and I'd think the canned has a higher fat content, making for a better pie :)

    How much torani syrup did you use? and when you say instead of the syrup use sugar and extract is that additional to the 3/4 cup used before? Sorry for all the questions.. Would love to try and make this for my husband :) thanks for sharing :)

      @NoreensKitchenOfficial  8 лет назад

      I will have the recipe posted on my website some time tomorrow. I am sorry for the delay. We had a death in our church family. This was just not a priority. You need 1/4 cup of the syrup. Yes, you use the sugar as well. You only need the coconut extract if you don't have the syrup.

    • @NoreensKitchenOfficial
      @NoreensKitchenOfficial  8 лет назад

      No, I never do that for this pie. You really can't add coconut to a pastry crust. You can add it to a cookie or cracker crust. I don't really prefer those type of crusts.

    • @lylaschmooz
      @lylaschmooz 8 лет назад

      you could use coconut oil in the crust, that would make it a quadruple coconut pie.

    • @NoreensKitchenOfficial
      @NoreensKitchenOfficial  8 лет назад

      Lyla Schmooz no coconut oil is not something you should use in pie crust. This crust is a cream cheese pie crust. You really need a fat that is solid at room temp. Coconut oil is not.

      You should not use a raw pie dough because it will not cook properly. YOu really do need to blind bake it. Other recipes may show a raw crust, but I promise you that it will not be the same.
