    I am from Britain, Wales to be exact and I am a 25 year old man and I just wished I had a Maths teacher like Arthur Benjamin. He explains Maths in a way that it is like "wow I understand that" or "wow there is a little trick in there". The Maths teacher I had in school, well he wasn't a nice man to say the least and it made me hate Maths.

    This property is an application of the difference of two squares formula. So given a number 2n, for some positive integer n, n + n = 2n and n*n = n^2. (n-1) + (n+1) = 2n and (n-1)*(n+1) = (n^2) - 1. And (n-2)*(n+2) is (n^2)-4 so on and so forth. So these relatively boring formulas we learn in school are actually brought up as really cool patterns. Also his method where he does 13^2 as 16*10 is another extension of this. So 16 is 13 + 3 and 10 is 13 - 3 so (13 + 3)(13 - 3) is 13^2 - 9, or 160. Mr. Benjamin just reversed this sequence to get 13^2 easily, as 16*10 is easier to calculate.

    • @Corazonlatino1995
      @Corazonlatino1995 21 день назад

      You are wrong, because necessary 13² need to end with the digit 9 because 3*3=9, and so the right formula were 16*10+ 3²* = 160+9= *169*. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. Another way(little bit more long) were to do (13-8)(13+8)+8²=5*21+8²=105+64= *169* !! They are many ways to go to ROMA!! 💪🤙🤣

    • @paredeschris6209
      @paredeschris6209 5 лет назад +2

      It does work 72 you move 2 down and 2 up in that case you multiply 70 and 74 and you get 5180 and then add the square of 2 which is 4 then you get 5184

    • @nightfallchronicles121

    • @paredeschris6209
      @paredeschris6209 5 лет назад +2

      It's because of the 0 you can do it like this 74 times 7 you get 518 then you can just put 0 in the end so you get 5180

    I am better than him. I wrote him an email, and of course he ignored me! That does that make him a coward? Inspired by him, I squared my first 5-digit number on December 31, 2015. I am currently squaring 7-digit numbers, and look forward to trying 8-digit numbers soon. The trick he discovered at 13 years old, I figured out in 15 minutes at the age of 8!!

    You are not a mathemagiician!! You showed the tricks of mathematics which ancient INDIAN Sadhus( Sages), Gurus( teacher) and Indian mathematician used during and after the VEDIC PERIOD. And this maths later came to be known as VEDIC MATHS. Which you showed as magic maths. You can too search the web for the same
