All the time I spent throwing bikes and people through windows, and somehow I NEVER noticed that I can't do the same in Yoshinoya? Insane. Great video man - was cool to see the English dub differences with that Arakawa cutscene because it's not easy to spot on a single playthrough, but I imagine since you constantly swap between Japanese and English dubs, this would have been an interesting one to catch.

Yeah so far it’s their only game that’s done facial motion capture for the dub performers too. You’ll see them do English and Japanese facial animations in a lot of Square Enix games if you were wondering who else does that
Fun fact: You can speedrun the stealth in photograph side mission in Lost Judgment just by passing through literally the guy on your right without needing to look at, distract, and knockout the two other people on the left. Literally just go straight.

Another interesting gun replacement is at the end of 1/Kiwami. When Nishiki shoots the bomb in the original, it’s very noticeably a Glock but it’s changed to one of the non-descript ones in Kiwami.
Here's mine: 1. You HAVE to turn on the lights during the Cane man fight in Chapter 10 in Judgment or otherwise your controls will be unresponsive asf....like someone fighting in the dark irl. 2. Judgment doesn't emphasise it as much as Lost Judgment but you can still shift your character left and right. 3. The Empty Lot can be seen in Yakuza Kiwami's map in the very beginning where you explore Kamurocho with Shinji. 4. Based on Yakuza 5, Yagami's detective office used to be a saucy sex shop.
That "slowing down to accommodate George Takei" bit was fascinating. It shows how Sega and RGG went the extra mile for the English dub. Only other series I can think that does this is Kingdom Hearts, and they have Disney backing.
They basically had the same way of dubbing, which was changing the lip flaps, but I remember Kaji Tang saying that now there’s technology which matches the lip flaps to the recording.
There is a little known fact about how in Yakuza 1, specifically the English dub, Kiryu actually changes from the prologue in 1995 to the rest of the game in 2005. Nishki comments on this fact, look up "yakuza 10 years in the joint" if you want to hear his exact comment on it.
Everyone knows that the 4 in Yakuza stands for protagonist number. But did you know that there are at least 4 Suzuki's in the game? We have Fourth Chairman Suzuki and jailbroken inmate Suzuki. But then there's loan shark Suzuki and his long-lost/Korean twin/look-alike fake loan shark also named Suzuki?

Speaking of speedruns and dubs, the English dub of Like A Dragon has a few "thanks, take this" dialogue after fights missing the dialogue box making them unskippable, unlike the Japanese version. Of all the things, *that's* what made the English dub a no-go for LAD speedruns. Of course, speaking of LAD and speedruns, there's also the curious case of fights taking *slightly* longer to end if playing on M/KB for some reason...so forget about the leaderboard if you don't have a controller.

The Lost Judgement Dub isn't actually horrible, I played my first playthrough with it then my second in the sub. Its definitely the only game out of the series I'd recommend playing atleast once with the dub.
If someone really wants to be accurate with the pronunciation of "Makarov", the 'в' at the end ('v') actually sounds like 'ff'. It's always like that in Russian - ending consonants are unvoiced. That's why old English transliterations of Russian names almost always used 'ff' and not 'v', but that changed for some reason.
The only other instance when I can think of LAD's English Dub being slower is in the substory for the pawn shop. There's an additional text box in English.

The M1911 is like the AK-47 in sheer number of knockoff products, and as you might expect, most of those knockoffs wind up in the hands of less than law abiding citizens for their cheapness and ease of acquisition (through less than legal means). Quantity over quality is important when you consider most of these guns are expected to be disposed of after use, so having a really nice expensive and officially made gun isn't criminally efficient. Hey Snowiest! Can I ask about your PC specs? Cuz I'm before an upgrade and are overwhelmed by the amount of stuff that came out in the past years as to what to choose and yours look like can handle the DE games with ease.
My PC is definitely overkill for the games, although back when I had a 1080 and an 8700k all of the games ran fine besides Kiwami 2 because the port sucks. That being said though I currently have a Strix 3080, an AMD 5950X, and 32GB of Ram, and then some other stuff that I don't remember because my brother built my PC. I see a lot of videos on RUclips where it seems like someone is running the game on a literal Tupperware container with some wires hanging off of it, so you don't need anything like me. Definitely would recommend an SSD though, at least for the Dragon Engine games. The load times can sometimes be quite slow lol

Nah probably won’t ever make any Kingdom Hearts videos. I love them though. Don’t have a single Yakuza platinum trophy but I do have the Platinum trophies for all but one of the KH games on PS4 lol

You'll defs have struggle with yakuza 6, kiwami 2 and 7 without good specs but both judgment games surprisingly run well even on cheap pcs.
