The DREAM Studio - Building My EPIC Home Studio (UNDER $300)

- I'm actually blown away by the result! I can't believe this cost less than $300 USD haha!
I've always wanted to build a home music studio that made me feel inspired to write and produce more music, but I was also scared of the prospect of spending thousands of dollars endlessly upgrading my home studio equipment and getting custom built acoustic treatment installed only to find out that I needed more expensive acoustic panels and bass traps to get the right sound. So I started to do some research. I've seen many people build their own acoustic panels for their music studio and have seen how effective custom built bass traps can be, so how hard could it be to build my own acoustic treatment? Well actually, a little harder than I originally thought, BUT it's still not all that difficult and it's so much more affordable than I expected! The results actually blew me away and the process of building a music studio myself was really rewarding and made appreciate acoustics even more than I already did.

never put LEDs on fabrik. it's a fire hazard and insurance will step out if anything happens. Buy some aluminum rails, they are not that expensive anymore. you don't want to be responsible for other people burning down their houses pls!
This is a very good point! I never really thought about the possibility of the LED's malfunctioning or catching fire. Thanks for the tip - Aluminium rails sounds like a much better way to build the panels

I have an apartment with my partner and about 8000 worth of equipment all of which has been sitting in boxes for 12 months brand new, I'm finally on the cusp of my studio setup, no sound deadening as of yet but this gives me motivation to works towards something bigger

that idea to mount the cloud frame to the bass traps was genius! one of the best builds ive seen on here
Yeah this made the build so much easier without the need to drill any holes or modify the ceiling. Glad you liked it and thanks for the comment!

awesome content Mike, keep it up!
Thanks Harmor!
phenomenal job man I can spend hours even days in there
No joke I'm watching this video drinking my coffee with the same exact cup you have in blue lol. Love your video the acoustic panel look great better than buying it pre build.
Haha I love that! It's a great cup, it's been with me through so many music projects haha! Thanks for the comment, and yeah I'm very glad I went with this over a pre-built panel. It's really nice being able to choose the color of the fabric and setup the lighting however you want.
Why is this so hard bro keep it 🤝🏽💪🏽💪🏽🏆🏆
Very Dope!!
Congrats this looks amazing really beautiful, but just one question how do you handle temperature in the room when all the equipment is turned on?
Thanks! And good question, the temperature is fine for most of the year because it gets a bit cold where I live. Although, for about 3 months during summer it does get really hot. When it gets too hot, I take a short break, open the door and turn on the air-conditioning. It's good to take regular breaks when producing anyway to 'reset' your ears, so I just do it during these breaks
@@MikeBelloMusic amazing this is a sacred sanctuary to make good music GOD bless you and keep on doing good music.
@@gdnrecords Thanks again!
Now this is dedication.
Wow! 🔥🔥 Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
beautiful studio! mine has many indoor plants, another way to feel fresh in the environment. greetings from argentina
Thanks! I love the idea of indoor plants in the studio, it must be such a great vibe in there! I might get some for my own studio in the future too
hey mike, this was really inspiring!!! I was wondering if u can suggest what channels did you watch while doing research on building your own acoustic panels and how to place them. Im trying to make my room into a studio and was wondering where to even start
Hey Amir, most of my research came from reading some books about acoustics, a lot of research from websites, and the forums on Gearspace. I'd recommend searching the forums on gearspace to start with, There's a lot of great info on there from people who have already been through the process of making their own panels
This was awesome! Looks great!
Thanks Curtis!
I just wanna say one word wow 🤩
Dear Mike, I am quite surprised with the result. It looks amazing and you should be proud that you did every single part of it by yourself. You motivated me to do the same, even though I may not be able to create the frames and all other stuff by myself. I am also living in rent and I was searching to see if acoustic treatment is possible without any drills. Thanks for showing that.
And maybe a question, do you think it would work if I get the absorbers and use multiple command strips? There are commant strips which can carry up to 7kg and I believe I wouldn't have any problem if I use 4 of them. That is my idea to make it and hopefully I'll start in couple months, but I would like to get your thoughts on that since you made it very very good! Thanks
Thanks Ali, Glad you liked the video!
I actually used multiple command hooks on all of my panels, so yes it does work. My panels have 2 hooks per panel. The thing you need to be careful of if using 4 hooks is to make sure that they are perfectly aligned with whatever part of the panel they are hanging onto, so that they are all carrying the load evenly. If you are just using the command velcro strips then just try to space them as evenly as possible.
Good luck! Let me know how it goes!
Creativity rocks! 👍
Hey mate, nice work. Were you happy with the finished result soundwise and any idea what sort of noisefloor this is producing? Considering a similar build so Would be interested to hear some before and after samples if you have any. Thanks
Thanks Aaron! I haven't done any after tests yet, although I do have some room tests that i did before installing the acoustic treatment so I'll do some after tests sometime soon and put up a video with the graphs and results.
The biggest difference I've heard so far is a dramatic reduction in slap echo and room resonances. I also use Audeze LCD-X headphones which are incredibly flat and this acoustic treatment has got my speakers sound much closer to the flatness of the headphones. So by my ear, the difference has been huge and I've noticed already that my mixes are translating better to other speaker systems.
Sorry I couldn't give more specifics, but I'll do some tests and put up the results in the near future!
@@MikeBelloMusic Thanks Mike. Nice work. Look forward to seeing the results of this
wowowowow i wish i get the opportunity to visit your studio once
Congratulations Brother 👍💯
Very cool video, well done IMHO. I'm interested in the LED lighting kit, where it seemed like you were able to create your own custom lighting. What was the product you were using there. Thanks much!
Thanks and I'm glad you liked it! The lighting was all bought online from Amazon. If you search for 'LED light strip' you'll find many different options and different sizes. I bought one that came with the power supply and remote for changing the colors. You can then cut the strips at certain points, and I connected those gaps using 4-pin connectors and cable which were also bought from Amazon
This is incredible! Congratulations
Thank You!!!
is it possible to get the project scheme? looks amazing, wanna try at my apt, i also cant drill any holes, it will save me
love the song in the beginning
Yeah me too it's so chill!
Amazing video! Inspired to want to learn how to DIY
Thanks, it's great to hear that you got some inspiration from it!

hell yeah
Jheeeeeeez bro looks sick. Gave me a lot of ideas for soundproofing and the style I want so thanks
Thank you!!! And good luck with your build, let me know how it goes!
@Mike Bello I will do Mike and thanks for all the ideas and information 👍
fire bro
love the vibeeee
Thanks!
Hey Mike, very nice your HS. I love it! Very inspiraring. So, could you describe what equipment are you using on the table to control the faders, under the display? Is it a ipad? Thanks man.
Thanks Diego! So the faders under the display are just on an IPS monitor. IPS monitors can be seen clearly from wider angles which allows me to have it angled upwards like that and gives me more of a feeling of having a traditional mixing console in front of me.
And the equipment I'm controlling it with is the CC-121 controller on the left side of the table. It is specifically designed for Cubase and has some really cool features that make moving around the DAW very intuitive.
I've made a video that shows exactly how it works and how I use it here: ruclips.net/video/PQFWVB4qYjY/видео.html
That’s 🔥🔥🔥 Bro‼️
Thank you!!!
Awesome work man!
Thanks man glad you like it!
This amazed me until I realized anyone could do this if they have the patience and put forth the effort. Either way thank you for this idea and your set up looks great.
That's exactly right, the hard part is really just starting it. You can find all of the information online, and it's fairly easy to make some plans. I think this specific setup was a little bit more difficult due to the fact that none of the panels are crewed into the wall, but yes anyone can do it with a bit of effort
Absolutely amazing setup!! I have one question tho: how did you setup your bottom screen? Did you use some type of holder or bracket? Your help will be greatly appreciated my friend!
Thanks! Both monitors are mounted on a single dual monitor stand which can be adjusted to set the monitors at any position
Does it get super hot with everything in there? I know I have some acoustic panels on my walls and door and the room gets quite hot at times.
Your studio looks hella dope 🙌🏽🔥
Glad you like it!
Nice set up would love to get the information on your touch screen faders
Thanks! So the faders are not actually on a touchscreen, they are on a standard monitor, although it has an IPS display. IPS displays just have better viewing angles than other displays which allows me to have it angled upwards giving me the feeling of having a traditional mixing console in front of me.
For controlling the faders I actually use the CC-121 controller on the left side of the desk. I've made a video that shows how my setup works and how I use the CC-121 controller with the extra monitor here: ruclips.net/video/PQFWVB4qYjY/видео.html

Wow, good job bro!! 🔥
Thanks 🔥
I like the colour thing. I usually change the colour of my Cubase to fit the mood of whatever project im working on, so I totally get the idea behind it. I see you're using cubase as well so maybe that could be an idea for you 😁
Sounds like a great idea! I'll give it a try and see how it influences my workflow
Thanks a lot man
No problem!
