Thank you for putting this video out! I wanted to try this in low doses for my 40 gallon tank to help treat a small outbreak of BBA and give the plants a boost. I have ADFs though and have read it can be harmful for them. Your frogs seem to be doing wonderfully though... any tips?
I never had any problem with low doses with ADFs present. However, do be very careful not to overdose since ADFs can absorb the chemicals through their skin.
Remove any plant matter that has BBA. Use a needle tipped syringe and spray it on the BBA when dosing the tank. Do a big water change after removing algae of any kind. Gets rid of the excess small algae particles that float around in the water after cleaning. Your filter will likely catch a lot of it anyway, but it's always a good idea.
Hey, I have heard that flourish excel will melt valesneria is it true? Coz some people are getting very good results with val and dosing them flourish excel.
I've heard it inhibits algae, moss, and fern growth, and affects some other plants negatively. Seems it reacts and cross links proteins, which can inhibit cell growth, but outright kills some cells. Seems there is still a lot of unknowns for the stuff outside of bacteria, where it's been well studied. I guess the biofilms our beneficial bacteria live in are somewhat protective, since it doesn't seem break a tanks cycle in the doses used. I'll be staying away though, cause I have a lot of Vallisneria and java ferns
@@frogtastichomeaquarium7940 I saw many reviews saying it killed their fish I wonder if its risky to use it i do have discus tank i bought this product already but kinda scared to use it
I would personally wouldn't use this in a shrimp tank. Some shrimp are extremely sensitive to their environment and even small changes may affect them in a negative way.
I'm not sponsored by anybody. Not enough views. I've used this in the past with shrimp and they were fine but I understand that some species are very sensitive to additives.
Very nice video, Thanks for the info. have a nice Xmas.
Do you also use fertilizer daily or weekly besides this product? Ty

Great tank. I bought a 3 pack of flourish, flourish excel and iron. Would you dose all 3?
Can u tell me the names of the 3 boddle
Great video
Thanks please review the Seachem flourish only , Also tell us about your light and substrate

In my experience, no. I have a whole bunch of vals and they do just fine with the correct dosage.
It kills algae, are there any problems with normal plants?
How often should I dose a 55 gallon
I stopped using excel and found my microswords grow even better. The algaecide effect has downsides I imagine
That's an interesting observation! I noticed that my micro swords grow extremely slowly when dosed with this. Other plants seem to love it though.

Will it work for plants like hydrocotyle tripartita mini and rotala
Absolutely. Excel doesn't provide a ton of CO2 but it should keep algae off the plants with the right dosage.
Are plecos okay with it?
Plecos are scaleless so you might want to dose every other day or use half dose.

@@thugstermlbb630 Discus can be pretty pricy so I wouldn't take the risk unless you low dose it in a planted established tank.
Do you dose with light on or off?
I usually dose with lights off for even better algae-killing effect.
Is it safe for shrimp

yes
@@frogtastichomeaquarium7940 it says on the bottle it’s safe for shrimp.
Sorry to say but I dont buy this info. Were you sponsored by Seachem? This stuff is bad news for shrimps.

It says it’s safe for shrimp on the bottle stop spreading crap information mr RATS
