Indeed. Recorded in Kansas City circa 99-00, I've never found out who it is. TuF was my 1st exposure to Danielle. I put a few of their cuts on a CD I burned for him, and he recognized her voice! So, of course, I copied it and uploaded the 3 Jewels, (IMO) off of it.... Long live the Blues!

This was in the late 90's before Danielle and her 2 Brothers formed Trampled under Foot, (Named after the Led Zep song). The CD was recorded at the Westport Sound Studios in Kansas City, on the Missouri side of the Line. They toured around the 4 state area quite a bit, and sold CD's at gigs and the classic, out of the trunk of the car! TuF made some great recordings both in studio, and live. No - this is Danielle Nicole Schnebelen (Danielle Nicole Band, Trampled under Foot, The Nortons) - both are great singers but Danielle is usually playing the bass guitar at the same time. (PS - Danielle is a white woman - Shemekia is black)

You need to listen more closely....While there are similarities, this is Danielle Nicole, I've seen her perform this song live as part of a set with her own band. The Norton's were a Chicago based based band and had a few line up changes.....they are harder to find on the web (the bluegrass band w/the same name comes up more often)

Every body is entitled to one.... Love some of Beth's recordings, and some are way too screamy for my taste... Her Vibrato is at times overdone as well.... Fred Pettis I agree with you. IMO, Beth Hart sings too hard. I like nuance and restraint just as much as growling and belting. I wish she would refine her style, even if just a little. Her lightning fast vibrato is just too much; it's overkill. Danielle sings this song perfectly. I like this cover every bit as much as Shemekia Copeland's original.

I speculate that when she belts out the emotion, as any dedicated singer is wont to do, the Vibrato just comes on, and I suspect it can't be controlled at that point, with full pressure through the vocal chords... I've no idea if you are familiar with this next singer, but if you enjoy subtlety and vocal control, she fits the bill to a T! Guarenteed shivers every time I listen to most of her work ... her story is quite the tale, if you're like me, and want to know the background.... enjoy. Fred Pettis I know Eva Cassidy's story, and her music, very well. Heartbreaking, and her talent was sublime. I love her version of Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.
