Unohana’s Shikai and Bankai have the same name (she’s the only one who’s zanpaktou is like that) but the way the name is spelled in Kanji means different things. Translators have said her Shikai (Minazuki) means “Flesh-Drop’s Gorge” while her Bankai (Minazuki) means “All Things End”.
I love word plays like that :)

It's not that she chose not to heal herself but her shikai only heals others that's why she mastered kido to heal herself
I think it’s more like he didn’t give her enough space or time to heal and he finally gave her a fatal strike which she couldn’t heal.

No it’s the fact the once she released Zaraki from his shackles his next strike would be one there is coming back from she accomplished realizing the demon she subconsciously made him seal away so long ago .. once he was returned to his true self the last strike he never dealt her as kid would kill her as an adult .

Unohana's zampakto is literally a life and death thing. Her shikai is essentially tailor made to help with recovery, whilst her bankai is designed to bring about horrible death.
I wouldn't be suprised if she can choose whether her Shikai's stomach acid heals or kills.

The only reason I am glad I was born Japanese is that I can watch anime in my mother language. In case you are wondering, Minna-zuki (皆尽)in Japanese means "everyone runs out. Originally, Minazuki (水無月)means June, the month in which water runs out. If my English is messed up, I am sorry haha🙄

Crazy how so many people interpreted the activation of her bankai was her cutting her hand on the blade, when the blade literally gets encased in blood as she slides her hand through it..
People speculate since her bankai really was one of the only ones that were never explained. To me i see it as a blood sacrifice she has to do to activate her bankai. It adds depth to her blood thirsty nature really.
It’s the same as people misunderstanding the skeleton part as her bankai being acid blood. It was just a metaphor. Him saying “im melting” is basically his old self melting away, with his true power making him new again.

Her Bankai is essentially both offensive and defensive.
Offence- blood slashes like getsuga tenshou+ blood heats up so hot that it melts skin off like acid.
Defence- blood shield+ instant regenerative healing ability (heals any wound at molecular level)
Im pretty sure them turning into skeletons was a metaphorical thing like them stripping down to just their primal battle instinct type beat also because they like instantly turn back to normal but in the manga it wasnt so clear thats why people thought it was acid at first
@@The_Hunted Definitely not metaphorical as Bleach barely does that and if it was then I’m 100% sure EVERYONE of the audience would know that. Just like how the audience knows In Demon Slayer the breathing techniques are fighting styles and not actual elemental abilities.

Kenpachi has finally hear his sword's voice for the first time ever and for this long he hasn't used shiki or bankai due to only seeing his sword as a weapon and not as a companion.
But soon enough y'all are going to love it when he releases both.

and, 卍解(Bankai) 皆尽（Minazuki) This ability is unknown and there are various theories, but I think it also has a healing ability.
For your information, Unohana's Bankai Minazuki (皆尽) This kanji means, 皆(all) 尽(die) .

Irs not just bankai that zaraki never "had", the 1st level shikai too, he never even used his zanpakutou as zanpakutou till now, he just used it like simple sword, for sure he knows the importance of it for shinigami thats why he never discarded it but, he never used it properly till now, and will still not use lol, cause even achieving shikai and bankai, he don't know proper zanjutsu, so he still have a lot of room for growth even after the tybw arc, this guy is fucking OP.

Zaraki dont need too much zanjutsu for his shikai and bankai. U dont want to use a cleaver as a sword.
She didn't give him her sword she gave him the title of kenpachi which basically means zaraki is the 2nd kenpachi
I don't watch Bleach, only the fights really and I know a bit about the characters and that's it. Still, I can appreciate when a fight is done well and how it tells the story between two characters.
This was my favorite fight in the series to date, absolutely brutal watching Zaraki get killed thousands of times only to be brought back to keep fighting

let me explain why zaraki melts into a living skeleton... that is actually a metaphor.. where one feels pleasure, contentment to the bone that is not sprinkled with Unohana's Bankai blood. This is because, what you all are watching, is bankai Unohana's is of the kido type where the bankai can heal himself or those around him or the user of this bankai can use it to split the enemy from afar... what is shown where the two of them become a living skeleton, that shows Zaraki's extreme feelings in reaching bones.. in other words.. "Satisfaction and Enjoyment" until the end of the bones.

Everyone keeps saying the blood is melting them, which is something I didn't even consider. I saw this as them feeling everything. They are bare, their essence is on display. This fight is the core of what they desire in life and they are enraptured in this moment. So we see them as skeletons and nerves. There is nothing to feel or see but the battle.

My theory is that her bankai covers the area in her own blood and then it eliminates her oponents like her sistem eliminates viruses
Unohana could have killed most of the quinces without using her Bankai. Still so upset that they have to kill her for Zaraki's plot.

Okay just for some people that don’t know! Unohanas bankai is a bit different, basically her blood is acidic, and if you touch it it burns away everything that got touched by it, but it also heals if she wants it to, during this entire fight she was killing zaraki and bringing him back over and over again so he could get stronger!
I don’t think so, especially considering the timing of the skeleton moment, i think it was a metaphor or a display of him “waking up” as he puts it, especially considering Unohana becomes a skeleton too and without eyes as well while kenpachi has eyes
@@legendaryseph9406 if you look at the timing of the skeleton, it’s when he cuts her shoulder, the blood is flying out and touches both kenpachi and unohana, also there is a pool of it under him as well, it makes for great animation but yes it’s part of her bankai as well.
@@leviuzumaki3903 except then it wouldn’t burn her entire body it would be in the cut he used, also the sound and visual effect of the healing didn’t play there when they were suddenly whole again, and even with the power of her healing if she had no eyes and was literally just a skeleton even she’d be dead
@@legendaryseph9406 not necessarily, the blood is literally gushing from a sword wound, little drops would be all over both of their body’s, it would’ve turned them both to bones then she would heal them again. If you notice in the last scene the only reason she died was because she literally wanted to after her life’s goal was accomplished, if she wanted to live she could’ve. But she let go and let herself die.
@@leviuzumaki3903 then the timing of the acidic property would be off as well if it really was the blood melting them, before Zaraki even truly started his counter attack he was covered in blood, it was only when his monologue started that he saw himself become a skeleton and that was after quite a few exchanges, however if the attack for Zaraki’s sword really cause Unohana to melt why did it happen right away when it took a while for it to affect Zaraki, and why did it start at the hand for Zaraki and work it’s way to his face when they were all hit at the same time. It just doesn’t make sense that they actually melted and it wasn’t some third eye thing that Zaraki was seeing. And also they were both drenched in blood from basically the start of the fight as a result of being thrown around and Unohana’s own attacks, so the fact that it only happened at that one moment and with inconsistent timing just doesn’t make sense.
