It's based on if the one telling the objective truth knows they're lying. Escanor is so prideful he truly truthfully believes he's above all else. His walk towards Estarossa is another one where his "Pride" wins out.
When he announces he is “The Pinnacle of all races” it sounds like a self proclaimed label, and then you realize he said this in the presence of the Commandment of Truth… He would’ve turned to stone if he was telling a lie in Galand’s presence 💀💀💀
A lie is only a lie if you're aware you're not being truthful. As the sin of pride, Escanor truly believes it. Whether it's factually correct isn't relevant.

story isnt bad its just if the animation and any sense of trying was back it would be back to this vibe. just badass eye candy to gawk at with sick back n forth dialogue id be eating that up. story telling could use abit work actually..
