I just upgraded my Sony editing software to Movie Studio Platinum 14 (I think Sony sold the company). For the price, it is good for creating RUclips videos. I've been using it so long that there would probably be a steep learning curve if I changed now.
yeah it was bought by a company called magix they make a video and music program similar to the sony versions ,but to me not as good, so I am hoing they don't screw up vegas and acid.
+Brandon Kirkwood My MacBook died and I never repaired it. I went with a Dell laptop with some decent specs. I did learn on iMovie but the Sony software I'm using is way more powerful. 👍✌
Brian, I follow alot of different van campers, & yours are by far the most informative, this one included. It's really amazing that you put out such good quality videos with just those few pieces of equipment. It just proves that it's not how expensive your equipment is, it's how well you present your story, and in my humble opinion, you do a great job. Keep up the good work.
That was totally fun and interesting - thank you. I love that you have some simple equipment and provide the viewers with such great vistas! Thank you for sharing this. 👍
Great video Brian. Looks pretty simple but also complicated for me as I am not much on photography. But I am glad all of you tubers are. This is how I spend a big part of my evening watching all of my friends on you tube. Thanks so much.
never even thought about all that goes into your videos. thanks for sharing as I now have a new appreciation for how much time and effort goes into entertaining and informing while on the road. it would be great to see how you edit and upload on RUclips and see all that goes into making the final product too! thanks brian.
After being that guy that had to buy the latest gadgets as soon as they were released..I buy tech that is a little older and use it and it works for me. I just bought a Gopro 3+ Black on eBay with case and all kinds of accessory's for under $200. I applaud you for making things work that you acquired. Your Videos are top notch in my book!
I always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing this with us, and for all the work you do to produce such great quality videos. Really love your intro too, the logo and music are perfect.
Right on! Thanks for the advice k. the passenger seat, the bolts connecting to the base were square, so it was a great fit, really opens up the space. a little slope down to it, but not bad, and an easy fix if/when I decide to adjust that. thanks for the videos!
Brian thanks for sharing this video as I did ask how you do the filming... this is brilliant. I love seeing your life on the road and I watch you a lot.. I been catching up with your back videos and just love them. I love seeing where you go and what you do... I am happy to watch what ever you post ... love the dash cams videos as you travel... love watching your hikes and camp site shots... but I do love love love the drone vids ... did I say LOVE LOVE ??? you and Nomadic Fanatic do the very best.. here in the UK that machine is well pricey but looks worth every cent..
Thanks Brian! Great tips and I really appreciate that you took the time to share not just the equipment but how you use and mount each component. I was considering a DSLR but they are out of my budget. It's great to see that there are other, low cost, quality options and accessories out there.
Brian, I appreciate your work as a nomad very much. I've been a professional/habitual musician the entirety of my adult life. Working as a solo, duo, trio, group performer playing guitar, harmonica, and singing. I also have worked as a bass player in various musical configurations. I greatly enjoy the videos of your guitar playing . I admit, I asked you to show your drown and cameras for selfish reasons. In the very near future I plan to leave my home in Myrtle Beach, SC and head south. I will be living out of my Chrysler, Town & Country and playing music for the folks in Sarasota, Florida and surrounding areas seasonally. as a nomadic musician, I think having the ability to document my travels and work places would be of interest to a considerable number of people. Having a drown to set on the "follow me" mode would definitely enhance the experience also. If you ever decide to head to the deep south I would consider it a privileged for you to visit us in Myrtle Beach and along with me on the road. I'm leaving home the first of April with no set plans or jobs. My hope is to scope out the area which is reportedly the home of the largest numbers of Baby Boomers for seasonal travels.. We "Boomers" are of the 'Love Generation" and appreciate live music, dancing, and enjoying people. So I think the chances are good for my success on the road. I'd like to see you there and would welcome you as an honorary Boomer. Thank you! Michael
+Michael James Awesome, sounds like an exciting adventure. Document it for sure! There was a 'Boomers' group in Quartzsite this January...fun group! 😁👍✌
Thanks for the equipment run down Brian! Retailers are getting stupid money for a Hero 5 so it's good to hear that a Hero 3 is what you use! It's about content not the camera.
Looks like you had good camera equipment from the start without having to spend a lot of money. The drone is well worth whatever you paid for it. Love your drone videos.
Great video! I've worked in broadcast TV for 30+ years and I enjoyed this. The GoPro is a great camera. We actually used them for live morning drive hits at our station. When we first started the morning drive segments, I was the one who drove the vehicle with the GoPro attached to the mirror. We then used a device called a TVU that fed the live video back to the control room for broadcast. They eventually hired a part time person to do this. I guess they realized it was not a good use of resources to use someone with 30+ years engineering experience to drive around aimlessly for 2.5 hours. LOL. There were several times I wished the GoPro had a zoom function though. But other than that they make great video. Also love your drone shots! I have no experience with those. Keep Living the Dream! I hope to someday to do the same.
another helpful & interesting video - thanks - i reckon what you spent on the drone is many times what you spent on the rest of your camera gear - i love the shots you get with it
Hey Brian, another great video, of how you use your video equipment. I love your frugal attitude. You don't keep upgrading to the newest and latest equipment on the market. As you say "keeping it simple" Kudos........
If those bananas start to go bad try mixing one banana with one egg, makes a great pancake, look forward to seeing you at adventureland again this summer.
That is so cool Brian......You do a great job with your video. And I am totally inspired with your frugal attitude. You don't have to have the very latest upgrades, Keep on Rollin, Rollin, Rollin .......
You have some awesome gear. I bet it takes a lot of work to edit all of that together in one video. My favorite footage is the drone but the clip mount is really cool. You have a great channel. Safe travels my friend.
What timing! I was just about to buy a Gimbal and I'm looking at the Feiyu Tech's. Really appreciate seeing what you use. There's a lot of expense to getting started as you well know and I don't want to buy something that won't stand up to the test of time or is of lesser quality. Thanks so much!
Very informative...and well done, of course! Maybe in a future video you could talk about editing. I'd be interested to know what software you use. I particularly like how you sometimes make the video "jump" to the beat of the sound track. And how do you do the split screen? Is it difficult to sync the two cameras?
I'm in the market for a new/used vlogging camera, so thanks for showing what you're using. I've been managing with my iPhone, but storage is very limited. Time to upgrade. :)
Your level of video production has always been amazing. Your degree is coming in to good use, I'd say. The fact that you have, as you say, simple equipment, makes it all the more remarkable. Have you thought about freelancing?
Brian, Loved this video. Learned so much. As another stream of income have you ever considered tutoring people online with the video teaching aspect of what you are very good at...I think you possibly have potential clients in your existing subscription base...just a thought. Hate to see you Camp hosting when you have so much skill to share already. Monetize it!. We love you dude! Some of us would pay to learn...just saying:)
Great video, it explains how your videos turn out so good! Very nice work on all your videos, thanks for sharing, congradulations on your RUclips success, wishing you much more success :)
Thanks for sharing Brian. I've wondered how it's all done. Looks like there is the fun part of recording and shooting videos but then there is a lot of production work that we don't see. Maybe you could touch on that too. I won't be shooting videos but I am interested in all of the work that you do to bring us your channel.
This was a fantastic video. I will be hitting the road in about 3 weeks and I plan to do a few things like you and other youtubers do video wise. I have the same drone. I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab E as a screen. I had problems with it connecting so I did a hard reset and that cured my tablet ills. Glare is still the biggest issue with a phone or tablet I am tackeling that issue next. I hope to run in the you some day on the road. I missed you at this years RTR.
Brian, Thank you for the insight into your equipment and how it is used. I have a Canon video camera with the screen you can turn around and I am looking for a Go Pro to enhance my videos. Again I thank you as this was a comprehensive look at video. Peace my friend!
Wow! Brian, those who arw interested in filming You are 1 informative awesome "helper. ". As always. Dad had a great fix for dash mount.. I for 1 is very grateful to get such amazing video just click and can see areas of USA Brian films. Thank you Brian. I want to buy 1 of Brians carvings. Brian is such a talented, gifted soul. ♥Jp.Ok
I use Sony Vegas for my editing software. I you have any other requests for video topics, please leave it in the comments 😁👍✌
I just upgraded my Sony editing software to Movie Studio Platinum 14 (I think Sony sold the company). For the price, it is good for creating RUclips videos. I've been using it so long that there would probably be a steep learning curve if I changed now.
Thanks I will take a look at it
yeah it was bought by a company called magix they make a video and music program similar to the sony versions ,but to me not as good, so I am hoing they don't screw up vegas and acid.
I thought you were an apple guy? I remember your first vids way back you got your old macbook repaired. Figures you were using iMovie like me lol
+Brandon Kirkwood My MacBook died and I never repaired it. I went with a Dell laptop with some decent specs. I did learn on iMovie but the Sony software I'm using is way more powerful. 👍✌
Thank you for the equipment tour. Now it would be great if you took us through a step by step edit and post production process. Great work !!!

Thank you for taking the mystery out of how your videos are made...awesome job with all your videos.
Brian, you are one of my favorite RUclipsrs. Thanks for all the work you put into your channel.
That tripod clamp thing is genius!
Very interesting, thank you for taking the time!

I had no idea the equipment required to make these videos was this complex. Great insight!
I love that drone backpack! That was very neat to see the 'behind the scenes' production equipment. You presented it very well. Thank you!
Thanks for putting this together and pointing out some features to consider for different uses. Very helpful!
Most excellent video! i bet a lot of people wanted this video made.Cheers
👍👍👍👍👍living vicariously through you👊👊👊👊
Always nice to see others camera setups. Keep up the great job.

Great Info! Been following for awhile. Really like your honesty and down to earth personality! Good job! My first comment.
Amazing, you are doing better vids with cheap old Walmark devices than some professionals.
Behind the Scenes. ..thx for sharing!!!
Very informative as usual. 👍

I see you are using the new table chair set up. good use.
you could fix that cord with a little packet of Sugru. It is like play dough when wet, but dries to a firm waterproof rubber
Loved your video, very informative about your tech items.
This was great info. Can you do one on how you edit, especially from two different cameras. Happy Trails.
I'd be interested in seeing your guitar and recording rig.
Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas 🎄
