Learn some chords, learn some scales, feel some ways to transit them and you can "invent" things from "scratch", which basically means rereading and recombining stuff while creating a tiny bit of actual new amidst. I was there! Showed up right when Harry Mack was doing his thing. The thing that I think get's lost in translation through the internet is Marc's ability to not only create these super awesome complex songs, but also have the ability to conduct the audience. There were so many people crowding around him wanting his attention and he was able to gracefully create his music, tune out all the distractions around him, and still make people feel special and seen. Truly remarkable to see his ability to work the crowd. My Marc fandom grew three sizes that day!
