I’m a fan of Reza and share most of his views on religion and religiosity; however, his blanket statement on aligning the fact that Christians were not called by the name of the new religion, Christians that is, and making the claim that Muslims also weren’t called Muslims during the becoming of Islam is false. Muslims knew themselves by the title of Muslims; in fact, the Quran itself called them that over 20 times. So although this was true with respect to Christians, it was not the case with Muslims. Also, the Quran went further and beyond that and called all "people of the book" Muslims.

Im also like you, have relativeley confused on this issue, and imortantly how reza the scholar who has a multiple books, had missing such obvious and simple thing
