      CTE did not make Hernandez a murderer. But CTE does cause depression, impulsive behavior, memory loss, and cognitive impairment. He played 82 total games between college and the NFL - yet had advanced brain damage. It's a serious disease that the NFL sweeps under the rug so they can keep making money. I don't hold the NFL accountable for Hernandez, but you know the 32 billionaire owners will be the last ones to admit that their sport is harmful to its players. They just want to keep making their money.

    • @sgtslaughter21
      @sgtslaughter21 7 лет назад +8

      No he's 100% wrong he starts put by say saying he isn't diminishing the effects of CTE then proceeds to do just that ..he clearly doesn't know or doesn't care to understand how CTE can effect someone..then goes on to ask Max "hey u cover boxing have u ever heard of...who's committing murder"? Max Kellerman brother was brutally killed by a boxer....I can think of a few NFL players UFC fighters boxers and pro wrestlers that have all commited murder (including military veterans not from cte but still)...brain damage is real

      wreed18121 um the NFL does not pay espn. At least not directly. It's the exact opposite. ESPN pays the NFL for rights to broadcast MNF.
      Didn't you pay any attention to the new TV deal with the NBA? The salary cap went up due to a bigger TV deal in which the networks are paying the nba to broadcast their games.
      The networks are then free to make money off of those broadcasts via advertising and merchandising.
      ESPN makes money from doing business with the nfl but the nfl doesn't pay ESPN.

    3:27 "who's committing murder"? Stephen has officially crossed the line .Time and time this guy flaps his big mouths and spews nonsense that he knows NOTHING about .he literally does this every other day. Max kellermans brother,Sam Kellerman, was a great writer who out of the kindness of his heart lend a helping hand to a Boxer by the name of James Butler. Butler was famously known for sucker punching another Boxer after a match and as a result was kicked out of Boxing and arrested for assault .Following his imprisonment , Sam Kellerman helped by Butler by allowing him to stay at his house for some time so he could get back on his feet.After a couple months,Kellerman asked Butler to kindly start packing,and as a sign of thank-you what does Butler do? Well he decides to brutally MURDR Sam by pulverizing the poor man with a hammer.And to cover up his cowardly act, he decides to burn the house down along with Sam(The same house he was allowed to call his home because of the generosity of Sam).. So for Stephen A to sit there and berate Max and question whether he knows how it feels for him to know someone who's killed someone he knows.YES Stephen A he does. Respect to Max for being able to keep his composure while this idiot was rambling on about something he CLEARLY knows NOTHING about is a true testament to Max's character ,because lord knows I would've let Stephen A get a piece of my mind

    Stephen A I think you missed the point. The argument is that CTE was a factor in the aggravation of the issues within Hernandez. If I'm not mistaken, CTE has been shown to be linked to increased violent behavior in people. That's how I understood the lawsuit.

    • @stevenweech8888
      @stevenweech8888 7 лет назад

      Brian Glaze every case of violence with CTE was self inflicted. His would be the only case of violence towards other people.
      And the lawsuit was filled against the Patriots for not disclosing the issue (which they can't since he would have to be dead in order to know) it had nothing to do with the murder.
      SAS was right. The man's balls are very big to think he can win this lawsuit

      sr dargo it's not a false narrative. At least not yet. The narrative is still bring written.
      He was only in the NFL three seasons and had CTE worse than most players get after playing a full career. Which means he could've developed at a much younger age than normal if he was hiding concussion symptoms from his high school and college coaches.

Now I do agree just because you can play a sport at that level doesn't make you a good person. If you grew up a thug, you are still a thug just now you have money. So many people are completely missing the point. Yes Aaron Hernandez was guilty of murder but that doesn't mean his family doesn't have a right to sue the NFL over the head injuries he sustained while playing in the league. These things are just not mutually exclusive. It doesn't matter whether the family believes the CTE was the cause of the murder or not... they're not suing the NFL over head injuries being the cause of the murder, the suit is the exact same as most other CTE suits, that the NFL withheld facts and did not educate a former player over the dangers of common head injuries while playing football, which they are 100% guilty of doing. Personally I do not believe that the NFL deserves to be off the hook for essentially committing a crime against someone, just because that person happened to become a criminal himself later on down the line.

  • @keithbell9348

    Q: Was it CTE that drove Hernandez, an already troubled man with a screwed up past, to murder, and to commit suicide? How much of a factor did this disease play in his behavior?
    A: At present, with how little the medical community knows about this disease, we just don't know.
    And in this particular case, we may never know. So Stephen A. can rant, and the rest of us can speculate. But in the face of the unknown, it all means nothing.

      You're right.... that's why the lawsuit isn't over Hernandez's sentencing? The Hernandez family is suing the NFL over withholding information about CTE from a former player, which the NFL is 100% guilty of as we all know. ESPN is trying to turn this into his family trying to prove his innocence, but that's not what the suit was about.
