kantoi was a final year project short film done by mmu faculty of cinematic arts students back in 2018. during the period of 2 years while it was shelved, kantoi was nominated for several film festivals in malaysia such as top 3 best short film for MIFFEST 2019, best short film for freedom film festival 2018, and numerous public screenings for girls camp, schools, and art shows.

Just found this channel..and seriously,diorang cakap in different language but the accent is so good..and real betul lakonan diorang..the story is so relatable too..a little touch up make this story more fun to watch..like they let that girl wore baju kurung instead of the skirt things..let us Malaysians hope drama melayu akan jadi macam ni suatu hari nanti..bukan sekadar cinta tiga segi

Their actings are really good i must say, applause! Doesn't look awkward at all. And their english pronunciation is way way better for such young age. They have matured voice too. And what i really like is that, dia punya gedik and sass tu memang gedik betullah😂😭😭

1.cerita nie nk cakap yg jangan sebarkan berita even 'gossip' tu bukan pasal kau tak perlu nk sebarkan sbb kita tak tahu apa effect yg akan jadi pada dia (mangsa).
2.jangan sesekali salahkan org lain atas perbuatan kita ibaratnya macam jangan tuding jari ah...kalau salah tu mengaku je..
3.sejahat-jahat mana pun seseorang tu pasti ada secebis kebaikan ada dalam diri dia..so kita jangan kuat judge sangat..
4. Cerita nie nak cakap yg perempuan yg dh terlanjur nie perlukan sokongan..kita tak tahu apa yg dia lalui so kita sebagai org luar nie kene dgr masalah dia,penerangan dia supaya kita sama sama bantu dia selesaikan masalah...terutama pelajar sekolah...
Cerita nie sgt memberi iktibar dan banyak isi tersirat sebenarnya yg kita banyak tak tau..tapi saya hanya sampaikan dari sudut pandang saya saja..

I searched Zee Avi's song Kantoi... Out of curiosity, I clicked on this instead. One of the best decisions I've ever made. This is the most fun I've had watching a short in a while. My regards to the filmmakers.
I come here from tiktok and each of the cast acting is waayyyyy too good????? this is totally malaysian vibes with the high school setting, KoKo uniform, baju kurung uniform, different races in school, MangLish accent from the students i mean everything! im totally down for this one and let us have the second season too!
So here is my review of a great story directed by Adam Zainal and what indeed they did was magnificent!
1. The characters are indeed unique, however starts to become annoying at times, though it becomes the main drive of the story, as all young people are ignorant and stupid, they start to do what they know best, gossip because that's what everyone does. They don't feel boring to watch, they had something that made the audience properly recognize every single one of them. Like for example, Nazatul, a hijab student whose faith is so high that it made her despise other Malaysian students who aren't like her. Which would explain why she is a rude yet faithful follower. Though I found myself to be lost to find comparison between Sabrina and Raihan because they act like the same, just different circumstances.
2. The scenarios they made were one of the most outstanding moments I've seen even in a global scale! The dialogues they gave were really clever and always signify something that may happen in the next few minutes. Especially the last scene, it was properly well done and show the consequences of the climax that happened.
3. The way they set up the scenes with using a few techniques, echoing voices to indicate people gossiping, they all sound so unclear but you know what they were talking about because they gossiped about the main plotline, a school girl who is pregnant is hiding the truth. They used fast motion with cameras to increase the pace and to make sure the audience does not get bored to every single second of it.
Overall, I would give it a 9/10, could easily be a 10 if they actually knew what to do with Raihan in the early stages but nvm, still indeed a great short film done by the wonderful minds of Malaysians!
hello azmin! adam here. thank you so muh for watching and for this review!!! thank you very much. i would also like to point out about u saying sabrina and raihan act the same. well, technically, they are. but they sorta hated each other and also sabrina is gedik while raihan is... more of an asshole. both are outspoken but sabrina always talks about herself but raihan never talk about herself but more of about others. though i understand how its unclear maybe it was my direction that was lost in translation.
as for the dialogues, oh, we had fun writing the dialogues. it was mainly inspired by just listening to these talents talk. i wrote the dialogues based on how they would talk in real life so it would be much more natural and fun to hear. thank you so much for your review and thank you for enjoying the film :)

I do see some differences in your characters but I feel like it wasn't properly established for people to tell the difference. I sense nuance but in a very weak way.
@@azminalibsp4800 me and my scriptwriter got so inspired how yasmin ahmad tackles the ways to write her dialogues in films. it felt very humanly, although this was an attempt but it was a good approach and i have been following it whenever i write my scripts :) it really does set the tone of the film

how am i just seeing this now. the filming, acting and script was on point! this is really amazing compared with the shows they aired on national tv. i really hope malaysia's filming production could level up their standard and care about the little details like the logic of the film. this is one of the best short film this deserves more recognition!

This is actually a gem in the Malaysian Film Industry, finally there were people who indeed had the courage to make something so daring and show us clear issues. For all I know, this is some high-quality film that is so rare to find in these modern days.

This is the best teen pregnancy-themed short film that I've ever watched! Alia, Raihan, Sabrina, Nazatul, and all the characters played their roles very well. Their nosiness to find out the pregnant girl is really entertaining yet thrilling.
