Arguably the most useful student video as of late 🙏🙏🙏 not even counting exploit potential - just nice to know how a mechanic works - it will apply to almost any campaign. Glorious finding. You can even make up your head cannon that your soldiers actually learn new ways of fighting will serve in other armies. So it is not even that silly.
Honestly this makes lore sense as well. Historically expeditionary armies were sent to participate in wars partially to observe and gain experience for use back home.
Amazing video. I think what I need now is a checklist of TheSudent's Tips and Tricks that a country can make use of. So that before starting a campaign I rewatch and apply all of these amazing strats.
Still waiting on the Golden Succession series. If FlorryWorry is too busy, maybe you could just finish with Zlewikk and you trading back and forth between the two of you?
I feel like the trick with black-flaged condotieri should get more credit, I always wanted to send condotieri for role-play purposes. Great video as always
The problem (and maybe the draw) with this game is that there are literally so many mechanics that you can’t realistically use all of them unless you’re purposefully stunting yourself for long enough to make time to implement them into your game. I find that once I hit 1500 hours I’m basically in a perpetual war rotating between different cultures and religions to avoid a coalition.
today i found an odd glitch while playing as Milan. France was at war with Brittney when the surrender of Maine suddenly happened. England decided to give the Provence to France. and yet the land is still owned by England, I'm using the current newest update
It is not a Glitch it was just the event option where France backed down and didn't want to go to war even though England would have wanted to... that happens if France is already at war typicall,
that's crazy, I used to think AT is shared proportionally with casualties and participating troops but apparently not. There's no way paradox would let this remain in the game, it's too strong
Very nice and useful video! Can you, maybe, do guide for Centralize state and Concentrate development (in province state tab). I never use them, but i feel i should.
Well you can also became Armenia, take special mission that gives you unique mil gov reform, which grants you AT just by hiring generals and bonus gives you +1 siege pip. It was more broken in 1,36 patch cus it was giving 2 siege pips. So by spending 500 mil points you could go 100 arm tradition 100 arm professionalism in a one go, also you would always have 5-6-5-6 or 6-5-6-5 generals, somethimes even 6666.
When I participate with a 1k condottiery army in a battle, I am getting only a fraction of the army tradition shown in the post-battle summary. About 1/4 or 1/5 of the value. Still useful, but not as glorious as in the video. :) Has this been nerfed or am I missing something?

out of curiosity. how can you avoid a war with the hre emperor if both you and the target are an ally of the emperor. the shadow kingdom hasn't fired yet (both you and the target are in Italy and in the hre), and the target has no other ally (if it helps. the target has only 2 provinces, and the target isn't an impotent nation like the papal states but will dislike you for several years do to a disaster/events that can't be avoided without a lot of luck)
@@thestudentYT any recommendations on what to do? or should i just hope/wait for Austria to not be emperor? (i have France. the papal states. and Florence as allies. in addition to the emperor, but i don't have enough favors to brake an alliance and i preferably would have Austria help against Venice so before the war i wouldn't have to quickly ally then promise land to Hungry with no intention of keeping the promise)
I'm testing the formula right now in my current late-game Armenia campaign, and it seems that I sometimes get massively inflated AT from battles. I often receive 30+ AT even when only 5-10k of my troops die, while having a FL of 1.8k. Possibly there is an overflow issue somewhere and the game interprets my FL to be extremely low for this purpose.
The formula explained in the video seems to imply that losing a lot of soldiers is a good way to increase army tradition. Question: does this mean that having high Military Tactics and Discipline is bad for army tradition because they reduce incoming damage?
Yes it is... Morale and Quantity modifiers would be better for that but honestly there are enough ways to gain Army Tradition so especially the Decay modifiers make it very easy for f.e. Prussia to keep at 100 even with losing only very few troops
in my current playthrough as Milan I'm in a diplomatic puzzle of sorts. i can't go to war with Venice without going to war with burgundy. i need either France or Austria to help in the war (they are both my ally but i need something done about Burgundy). i can't go to war with Ferrara without going to war with Austria and Florence (both of which are my ally). savoy is somehow an ally of castle and Aragon. and all who i currently can go to war with is bologna who is an ally of Siena (who in turn is an ally of genoa) and genoa who i have a truce with and is allied to Switzerland, any suggestions on what to do? (also just to clarify, when I said i can't go to war with a nation without going to war with another nation it's because they are allies and don't have rulers who are cruel or malevolent or anything similar)
As I already said: Break the Alliance with Austria (and Florence) and defeat them with France ... Also Genoa should be your Goal before Ferrara because that is your Trade node
@@thestudentYT it's a different playthrough (I'm still using ironman, i moved to the new update so i wouldn't have to deal with as many glitches and i didn't want to risk issues with if i would still be able to get achievements). also Lucca still exists (i didn't mention them because i don't have a cb for them, that and they are an ally of savoy and Naples). in this playthrough Florence and Ferrara are also allies (in this situation i kind of need to be ready to brake that alliance with Florence so i can do that war. but if i remember correctly they might also be an ally of Naples and or savoy, I can do something about it later but it's an annoyance for the time being). the easiest path i can think of is war with Bologna and Siena to make them my subjects (they are both opm's who don't own any land specifically required for forming Italy, i just don't want genoa to join the war because i want to make use of the remaining years they can't go to war with me and i don't want more ae then i can deal with). my only other options are a nearly unwinnable war with savoy (unless i declare on Lucca which makes it still not that easy), or a war that if i wait long enough before doing will become very easy but currently is to much of a risk
That's nice to know when I get that before other nations. But the problem is that the renaissance only recently fired (it spawned in ferrara) and the shadow kingdom has not fired yet either (it has around 9 ish years before it happens), I'm close to spawning it in Milan and I have tech 4 across the board (I even was able to invest in some buildings to improve the economy. which means any money I get from wars can now be used to improve my own money generation, it was probably because I did an early show strength war with Switzerland at the start of the game) I just need the renaissance and I can start a golden age to (also. Surprisingly enough. The starting ruler of Milan and Florence are both still alive. I even got a decent heir from an event, his stats are 5 admin and 3 in both mil and diplo and the starting ruler only needs to live around 5 to 8 years more before they can be ruler)
And even if the heir can't be ruler because of the Ambrosian republic disaster, I could still do well enough to get sortition which would guarantee rulers around as good as them will exist at some point
I always got army tradition by marching troops through uncolonized provinces, but it is a pain to keep them moving back and forth all the time. This is much easier. Thanks.
