1729 was a taxi number of London in which Professor GH Hardy came to visit Ramanujan at a hospital in which Ramanujan was admitted because of hepatic amoebiasis. Entering Ramanujan's ward Professor Hardy told about his taxi number and added that the number was something dull. .to which Ramanujan think for a moment and told Hardy about the magic of the number. ..After around one month Ramanujan left England and went to his home in Madras where he died at 32 ..

1729 is a taxicab number, and is known as the Ramanujan-Hardy number, after an anecdote of the British mathematician G.H. Hardy when he visited Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan in hospital. He related their conversation: I remember once going to see him when he was ill at Putney. I had ridden in taxi cab number 1729 and remarked that the number seemed to me rather a dull one, and that I hoped it was not an unfavorable omen. "No," he replied, " it is a very interesting number; it is the smallest number expressible as the sum of two cubes in two different ways."
The two different ways are: 1729 = 1^3 + 12^3 = 9^3 + 10^3
Numbers that are the smallest number that can be expressed as the sum of two cubes in 'n' distinct ways have been dubbed "taxicab numbers". The number was also found in one of Ramanujan's notebooks dated years before the incident, and was noted by Frénicle de Bessy in 1657. A commemorative plaque now appears at the site of the Ramanujan-Hardy incident at 2 Colinette Road in Putney.

1729 is divisible by 7. I love the number 7, seriously don't know why. If we erase the number equivalent to the specific number or a bigger number. Let's say in 1729.. If we erase the number it will be 1022. 1022 is even number and if we divide that by 2, it will be 511. 7x7=49 x10=490, the remaining numbers will be 21 which is = 7x3.

He went to Trinity college Cambridge and the other mathematician was GH Hardy. The number is called Taxicab number after GH Hardy casually told Ramanujan that his taxi cab number is 1729 and Ramanujan at that moment pointed out the properties of that number. Its really a shame that even Indian mathematicians are so ignorant. GH Hardy make him a Fellow of Royal Society and even Hollywood made a film about him while we Indians are yet so ignorant.
