Shadow has started to do the exact same thing(we even have an almost identical box, except hers is dark gray and doesn’t have a cover, so she naps IN the toy box).

Sleeping guard over her toys just as humans stash cash under the mattress. However, during the unguarded waking hours nobody ever thinks to booby trap these otherwise easily opened vaults against theft.
