Wale is a poet... And there are plenty of local poets, they hold slams at my university. But I'm saying we need a platform like this def jam one today.
John Doe.. how new? Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, Noname, Mick Jenkins, Isaiah Rashad, Vic Mensa, Joey Badass, Logic, Denzel Curry, J. Cole, Bas.. there's more but if youve bever heard these artists I think you might like them
Ms. Hill's words remain relevant no matter when one is viewing this video. Personally, I think what makes her poem powerful is that it contains truth and wisdom in every line!
Even though she doesn't hail from Philly, considered the mother of the so-called "Neo-Soul" movement, just as D'Angelo would technically be the father. This is one of those things in history that will never happen again--that era, that magic. Philly, NY, NJ, VA, that whole scene, all colliding to give us Lauryn, D'Angelo, Jill, Alicia, EVE, Erykah, The Roots, Musiq Soulchild, Bilal, Floetry, John Legend, etc. This is the beauty of musical blackness, quintessential.
@@sonyapeach Oh I don't know why I thout Andre 3-Stacks is from ATL. Also Raphael Saddiq, MAN! Those kind only come in small batches per generation, foreal--LOVE THAT DUDE.
When I saw(heard) Lauryn for the first tme as a kid in Sisters Act ...I knew right away that she is special....mostly for her soul and inteligence...peace...
*I LOVE LAURYN HILL!!!!!!!!* such a unique, inquisitive and articulately profound MC! Lauryn has always been real and is the modern-day black panther! She doesnt conform to eurocentric ideals, she has found her voice since turning her back on the hollywood 'sell out' music industry to keep her integrity as an artist intact. I love her! Fave female MC! #goddess! #GOAT
The best female artist to Touch a mic in hiphop history... much love queen.. we miss you but we understand the way you have chosen... f**k that devilish industry
"Global economy in it for self". That's real. A global economy is our reality, it's not going to go backwards but so many politicians and businesses are just that: in it for self. A global economy is powered by the common people of this earth, it should also benefit those same people. The fact that it doesn't is wrong. I think we all can agree on that.
definitely, as you know that global economy is owned by the minority. Meaning it could be that 1% of people own the world's wealth while the majority own nothing. So politicians are "in it for itself" ..It is sad
The best poem on this show deeeeeeeeeeereeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeep and every one needs an into if you don’t know what to say mos def just introduces her lol
When he died they were at peace with one another. He did a tiny cameo in her video "The Sweetest Thing" and she did the female part of his song "Me and My Girlfriend".
"This tainted priesthood has got real saints misundastood"!!! Please speak that Lauryn! Too many people truly misunderstand who we children of GOD are because of liars, false priests, deceivers, and hypocrites... its sad that many are missing out on the love of Christ because of lies and misunderstandings...
@bankaisaint She talking about the thoughts of people of this society we live in, and where they are confused. She talks about the black people how they brought down, and how they are brought down through the media, schooling. Majority of the people no longer depend on God but on themselves and other people. But she is not just addressing the black community...
I used to want to be a part of the music industry but because of all the recent exposure of their wickedness, I no longer have the joy to want to indulge in such a lifestyle...I want to follow in the footsteps of the greats like Miss Lauryn Hill and present the message in a more positive light...SCREW THE MUSIC INDUSTRY!! Music died on 6/25/09 anyway....shit just aint the same....
